This is a full length feature film, Due to the time and teamwork required to make it, it is very unlikely to be repeated. It tells the complete story of the Cave's early discovery, then subsequent explorations and then takes you on a full amazing journey through the 20km miles of passages to the very furthest enormous passages of the Far North. In all this is a spectacular epic.
The film is in sections so you can watch parts that interest you most in any order you like, but the best way is to free up 1 hour and enjoy the complete Dan yr Ogof experience. After that, make sure you pay a visit to the National Showcase's of Wales , and experience the first km. or so of the three caves there, arguably the best show cave complex in the UK.
If you like this much try caving schemes are available through clubs based in the caving regions in Wales, England and Scotland.

That's a stunning film, so well produced. Gorgeous views and a great soundtrack. One of these days I should go on a serious diet, break out the yellow caving suit, find my SRT kit, and return to caving - a mere 23 years and 6 months after my last caving trip.

I congratulate you on a superlative production. As a many time visitor to the Far North and other less spectacular bits of this incredible cave (and epic trips to the Far North and back)- (Andy might remember me struggling in a certain squeeze in the RHS in 1970 something...). I have left my DNA in lots of parts of this place (breath, skin, sweat, some blood). After a long time living a very long way away and so much time that has passed it was great to watch this. However, many may not know, but my mother, her brother and sister and their father farmed Dan yr Ogof during WWII, They were helped many times by George Tyler on the farm at that time. George further worked at Dan yr Ogof for several years when I worked there as a guide (and general dogsbody as we all were) in the 1970's (in fact we were repairing a fence together outside Tunnel Cave (aka Cathedral Cave) when a Dr. Who episode was filmed there and we met Tom Baker. My aunt told of a time during the WWII years she went on a trip inside what is the cave just after (or just as) it was opened as a Show Cave. I remember at 16 or so I joined the SWCC, much against the many Committee member's wishes (the way things were then), but with Paddy O'Reilly, a few other Swansea University people and Bruce Foster, Eileen Davies (Inson) and Alan Coase's encouragement. I met a very elderly Gerard Platten when he made a slow (walking stick assisted) visit to Dan Yr Ogof with Alan Coase. I also met the Rev, C.H.D. Cullingford one day with Alan Coase, and Trevor Ford. (Ford and Cullingford edited the The Science of Speleology, Acdemic Press). I love the rest of your videos too... Now, before I forget, I would just like to add that I still give free lessons on how to correctly pronounce Welsh names - keep working on it Andy, ....just say this 10 times every morning: Gi-edd, Gi-edd, Gi-edd (two syllables).... Cheers, Gareth J. Davies.

Thank you Gareth! Absolutely fascinating comments that show the cave has adopted so many of us over a century

Superb video of a cracking cave. There’s just so much here that I really want to break out the SRT gear and head on in (I won’t I’m not that daft).

awesome stuff mate, dan yr ogof has played a big part in my childhood, with both me, my mother, my grandmother and younger brother all going into the public sections of the caves, but one day i'd like to venture deep into the cave just like you have, that eerie decent in the steps off of the public area of the cave has always been an interest of mine since i was young. awesome footage mate!
