PART 2 - • DANA 30 WJ Knuckle & A...
In this video I Install the WJ Knuckles and Brakes on my Jeep Cherokee XJ while setting up OTK high steer and a wheel alignment.
I have wanted to do a WJ steering knuckle and brake swap for the last two years and I finally have all the parts to do the build. My Jeep is a RHD so It took some time to locate part 5012517AB which I found in Russia and was kindly sent over.
In this video I do the knuckle and brake swap, set up a one ton high steer setup, a wheel alignment and build some high steer sway bar brackets. Its a complete install from start and almost to finish. I'm waiting on some inner axle sleeves, outer seals and inner seals to complete the build and that will be in the next video.

Just an add on to why you use the xj hub over the wj, the xj has a 4.5x5 bolt pattern and the wj has a 5x5 bolt pattern. So it requires you to either run a spacer/adapter or different wheels.
@dzlfreek

if you use the 99-01 unit bearing, you don't have to use spacers for the caliper brackets. 25:10 I did that...made a helluva racket!

The wj uses a cv joint that has a different center of pivot than a u joint, that is the real reason for the spacer, without it the u joint will bind and destroy itself along with the hub bearing.

Thanks Bear Grylls, great video. I didn't know the deflection was less with wj knuckles. You can use wj unit bearings but it requires shaving down the axle nut to fit the cotter pin in the hole, but it's not worth it unless you're ok with having different wheel patterns on the axles front and rear. I think you need 4 inches of back spacing on the wheels for 15s. Or you could get 16s from a rubicon tj or liberty. Or 17s from a 5x115 car like a challenger or charger, but it's a stock stance and look. The hardest thing about this swap is over the knuckle steering and track bar placement and length. I found it easier to just keep it under the knuckle, keep the stock trackbar location and use shortened wj drag link, tie rod, and tie rod ends. A guy on RU-vid did a great video on otk wj swap and trackbar set up named martinbuilts I think.

Why would I be kidding, you get a free part and just cover shipping so I'm not out of pocket... I was trying to do you a favour but forget it then.

I thought you could not run a 15 inch wheel with the WJ calipers.That is why the WJ came from the factory with 16 inch wheels.🤔🤔

You can but you need 3.75" backspacing or as someone kindly pointed out to me above 99 - 00 XJ unit bearings. Thanks for watching.

With a 99-01 unit bearing and taking back the caliper there should be a lot more room. I will see when i fit it all next week. I also suppose it depends on the type of offloading you do. If your in mud and rocks all day then it might be a problem.
