Part of a weekly series about modernizing a 1952 Dodge M37 with a 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel pickup truck.
I'm installing a 4.10 gearset from 3.55 to accompany the larger 37 inch tires on the truck. Also, I'll rebuild the "Powr-lok" Posi Limited slip inside the carrier, which was pretty straightforward.
I didn't mention this in the video, but the setup bearings are interchangeable from a Dana 60 to Dana 70 axle, so you will only have to make them once on a 2nd gen Ram 4WD.

I never did a restomod on a M37. We did a complete over haul. Looks good

Nice job. I hate doing axle and pinions and crowns. I’m glad you wanted to. I’m also glad that I can’t smell through RU-vid as used gear oil smells putrid

Los diferenciales M37 originales tienen una relación de 5,83:1. El eje trasero más largo es débil y no es adecuado para caballos de fuerza elevados, porque se romperá.

Another great video! I’m using the original axle and diff. Only replacing the old oil and pinion seal. Any tips on how to remove the old pinion seal? It is stuck in there.

Sometimes they are very much awful to remove! I had a lot of trouble pulling the front seal back in Episode 10. My method is to increasingly use more force. Start with a seal puller, and if that doesn't work, screwing a couple screws through the seal to push against the side of the bearing to act as a puller on the seal. Ultimately if that doesn't work, you can usually fold the seal out with a small cold chisel- but be careful not to hit the housing! Also, make sure to check that your axle vents aren't plugged, sometimes they'll make a new seal leak too. Good luck!

In this case I bought 2 new full sets of bearings to regear the differential- I sacrificed one set to slip on easily by hand to get the right amount of shims needed (this saves a lot of time), and then pressed on the other new set of bearings for final assembly and checks.
