The scene of Major Briggs sharing his vision with his son in Season 2: Episode 1 is my favourite from the series. Here is Dana Ashbrook recalling memories of filming it with Don S Davis at the Twin Peaks UK Festival 2018
The scene felt so out of nowhere but was so moving and genuine. Lynch’s dark and deeply abstract vision with Marks straight forward and often wholesome approach created such a masterpiece
Wow, one of my favourite scenes of Twin Peaks. I always cry watching it. Such an amazing thing to hear the information about how they shot it and what happened.. wow.
Granted it's more through his time as General Hammond than as the Major, but Don could absolutely make me cry and change my whole life talking to me like that.
Twin Peaks had a sincerity that is so sorely lacking in modern media. Everything now is buried under layers of cynicism and irony because everything needs to have an edge. Twin Peaks had an edge, but also allowed its characters to be vulnerable and real. Bobby's teenage cynicism was only superficial, and when modern media only has cynicism it can only ever be superficial.
