i first heard this poem a couple of months after leaving my ex... and when she started listing the men she dated... i started laughing... cause the truth every woman has had at least a few of the men she described... but this was like my anthem in that time period. she did that shit. :)
Some men see it, and prey on it, other's see it and run from it, then there are those who want to try and fix it like they're God, and then they get hurt too, and that's how the cycle continues. And this scenario she's talking about, is not about lacking discretion, but about exposing the situation, the emotions behind it, and sharing it as a form of release therapy, and to help hip another person in the same situation to shine a light on themselves
Well that's good to know, but trust me eventually we know, after you go through it a couple times, there are always signs, it's about being honest with yourself, and making the right decision from the mind, not the heart, that's how it gets bruised and turns hard it's those various insecurities that relate one person to another....
how many have you had; i get the joke but it's not a laughing matter, some poems need to be used as a mirror to help us look at ourselves so we can heal. emotionally unhealthy women attract these type of men we're not alone we need this, we need to talk to each other without out fear of being judged by people like you.
@trple5 You either didn't really mean this, or you, sadly, missed the point. How can I be sure that you missed the point? The words you chose demonstrate your truth. And your insecurity. Insecurity is not a bad thing, but can be dangerous in the wrong hands. A real man is never dangerous to/for a woman. Not in words or actions. Your words are a violent act against women. A man who respects women would never consciously choose these words. Please not that Ms. Dana took responsibility...Will you?
To trpl5: I am so sorry. Had I realized you were just a boy, I would not have been commenting on your responses. Of course you couldn't really understand where Dana might be coming from, you are only 16 years old. The fact that you are also African American is very, very, sad, but still, you are only 16, and we adults should not be responding to your comments as though YOU are an adult. WORD OF WARNING TO OTHERS: in most states, trpl5 is considered under the legal age. If ur an adult b careful!
