It is not rebelling. It is understanding that in this life you have options and who you are is your choice. You will not pay any consequences for embracing yourself and who you want to be.
Female bodies were not made to be soft, a female body is meant to be whatever that woman wants it to be. Women are not supposed to be anything other than what she wants to be. A woman can be strong, a woman can be aggressive, a woman can speak up, a woman can keep quiet if that is what she chooses to do, but not because others are telling her that is what she needs to do or be.

3) The poem has to do with the relationships between women and the rest of the society she lives in and the expectations it imposes on her. 4) love should not make you have to become something society tells you that you should be in order to be loved 5) her hatred is towards these sets of rules and standards that society tell women they should be
MAAAAN MAAAAN MAAAAN MET THIS WOMAN WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN AT TUCKER HIGH SCHOOL RUNNING TRACK... WENT UP TO OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY THAT SCHOOL LOOKS CREEPY AS FUCK MIGHT I ADD LOL... BUT IT WAS OPEN MIC NIGHT SO ME AND MY OLDER SISTER DECIDED TO SWERVE UP ON EM... ME AND MY SISTER BOTH SANG TWO SEPARATE SONGS... I SAW SISTA QUEEN IN THE BATHROOM I GUESS PREPARING FOR WHAT I DID NOT KNOW WAS GOING TO COME OUTTA HER SHE SEEMED SO QUIET IN THE BATHROOM SHE PROLLY THOUGHT THE SAME ABOUT ME... WHO KNEW THEN THAT WE'D BOTH ACCOMPLISH ALL THAT WE HAVE NOW :) I WOULD LOVE IT IF SOMEONE TOLD ME HER WHEREABOUTS LATELY... IVE BEEN IN ATLANTA NEARLY ALL MY LIFE AND IM STILL HERE.. I WANNA RUN INTO HER
If a woman wants to be tough and aggressive than by all means she can be wether physically or intellectually, that does not mean she is going to think or act like a man, because strength, toughness and aggressiveness are not exclusively male traits, they are human traits anyone can posses.
A woman should be able to be who and what she wants to be, and instead of trying to enforce ideals of what a woman should be, we should teach men and women to accept and respect ALL types of women and stop shaming the types of women we don't think should act they way they want to.
A woman can be strong no matter what gender she identifies with. Being strong does not mean you are a man, it simply means that you are strong. A woman is not supposed to be who she was "created to be" because we decide who we are and what we do in this life, we don't let other people control us and our lives. If a woman feel the need to stand up for herself and be aggressive that she can do just that, she can fight for herself if she wants to or needs to.
im reading quite a few comments about how this is/might be about or based on her being lesbian... in my opinion its just about how even now, after all of the 'progress' we still are expected to be a certain way and she's just tired of hiding her rebellion to that expectation
I loves it yeah I'm a lady I know that but that y'all what comes with it at first I was like she want be so hard but went back to it again now I feels it. Can't be a lady these days.
Not every female wants to be a mother just like not every male wants to be a father. So you see, reproduction is not required just like gender roles are not required. A person has the option to be and do what it is that they would like in this life.
Speaking as a guy I don't understand why a guy would want any other sort of girl. I have no interest in girls that don't stand up for themselves or don't chase their dreams. A girl that gives in to her parents wishes against her own wishes for example is a huge turn of for me. I want a girl that dares to tell me to fuck off, I want a girl that tells it as it is, makes decisions and does her own thing. I want to love a person. Not a creature society wants her to be.
what you were build for my brother determines who you ARE. you were build to speak,..that is why you have a MOUTH. you were build to breath, that is why you have a NOSE. you were build to walk, that is why you have a FEET everything we touch was build for a purpose..that is why we use it. they cannot be "who they want to be" they can only be who they were BUILD to BE. a man cannot fly like a BIRD, bcus he was not build like BIRD. he can only be a man, bcus he was build to be a MAN
Being a lady, respect yourself and others, hold yourself in a way that makes you feel good and not ashamed. Know that you are sexy without flashing your ladybits, no matter how thin or fat you are. Be strong and independent in a way where what all you really need is TRUE LOVE. Don't be afraid to show weakness and shed a tear at the right times. Be happy with you and what you are every morning you wake up. Be a lady.
@scorepyo while I won't say I disagree with you, I won't say that I agree with you either. I don't see her aggressiveness as hatred, I see it as anger and frustration with society and it's antiquated rules about women's roles in society and relationships. @stoleethatsme plummeting deathrate is not a compliment. and to whoever made the statement, I would rather live in a childless society than in one in which babies are aborted, or delivered and abandoned.
I've watched this video at least 7 time trying to get a understanding but all I see is a young woman who never had a grip I know women who act like men but you don't company and I wont down talk them but everybody strong and it's sad their who agree I love all sister off all races and all colors
that's what I said ! its was just all screaming ! Being a lady is about maturity , growth , wisdom , healing , knowing better & doing better! its not about wear pink nail polish and talking in a squeaky voice and just looking pretty. A true woman knows its power in silence and you don't have to act "Manly & be vulgar" to be seem as a strong woman. But she's only 19 she'll understand oneday I'm 20 BTW lol(: life experiences age you faster than a birthday
But the thing is that most people when they say act like a lady they mean pink nails, squeaky voice and fragility and being silent no matter what. So while I understand where you are coming from I also understand where she is coming from
@bkempress718 There are different ways to express the same thing. She seems to just rant cliche after cliche. I don't disagree with her substance, just her form.
@stoleethatsme 1. "America's plummeting birthrate" isn't a compliment unless you hate the country and/or its people. 2. "Rules of servitude" LOL Men already know women instinctively have rules of attraction, and if you don't follow them, you'll be seen as a weakling in the "friend category." The rules of attraction for guys exist as well, and it's not to oppress women. It's just what gets us interested in investing energy & time in a family.
"you decide who you are" ? you don't decide who you are my brother, it is the CREATOR who decides what the created will BE. can a BUILDING knows better than it BUILDER? can the CREATED know better than it CREATOR? NO, bcus the creator was his maker, so he decides which path the CREATED SHOULD GO. but the created can chose to REBEL. against his creator..n go on his OWN path. but in the end, he will PAY the CONSEQUENCES.
3. The poem DOES have to do with relationships because it's relevant to the relationship between Man and Woman (which she decides to bash unless it follows her own unexplained ideals) 4. Rules, no matter how stringent or flexible, exist in everyone (even the idea of not abiding to any rules is a rule in itself) In men and women, however, love should outweigh rules, not sociopolitical propaganda. 5. "Intimidated and defensive for absolutely no reason" XD, I'm sorry! I misunderstood her hatred.
"Female bodies are made to be tough" NO,female bodies are made to be SOFT the image of our body is a reflection of who we are suppose to be..as people know the difference between STRENGTH and AGGRESSION..my dear strength is the ability to control ur innerself,n not hurt others.. what makes u TOUGH is being able to control ur ACTIONS. a person who can't control himself is aggressive,as a result, he's always on an attack. being aggressive don't make you STRONG, it makes you WEAK
