I was born 1964. My parents were very young. We didn't have any furniture in our living room but an old easy chair from my mom's mother and an old rocking chair from my Dad's mother. There was also a record player and a tiny black and white TV. One of my earliest memories is dancing the Twist with my parents to an appearance on some rock show.

Every time I hear Marvelous Marvin two memories come back. My late Auntie M who would have been 78 this year - she introduced me to his music in about 1967. Second one of those moments where you are when something tragic happens like, Kennedy, Princess Diana, and 9/11. For me sitting in Oklahoma City airport on my way to Dallas - I immediately bought his greatest hits cassette for my journey - I would drive back to Denver from Dallas with it playing continuously... Thanks Marvin for all the memories...too smooth by half.

Thanks Toni for the memories! While I was a kid in the 60‘s (12 in 69) I had 2 older sisters who were in high school when these dances were popular. So they would always be trying them out at home with me watching. Result- I was one of the only guys in high school who knew how to dance…at least a little. I was very popular on the dance floor. Even more so when disco hit the scene in the late 70‘s! What fun we had! Cheers and thanks again! I‘ve always enjoyed your movies and congrats on finally getting your recognition for „Mickie“.

Listening to the music transports me back to a time when I believe it was more fun to be young, even though we did not have all the mobile phones and gadgets that the kids have today.I grew up in a small city and there were dances on most nights of the week, the "pubs" were always full with people enjoying themselves and everyone seemed happier then.

When do you see young people enjoying themselves today? They're too busy character assassinating each other on social media.

I truly miss the days of social and regional dances. They always made parties super lit, especially when everyone did the dance with their own variations. I remember going to visit relatives in other cities, back in the day. The key things we had to find out were the best radio stations and the type of dances they were doing at the time. This was definitely the case in the mid-'80s as street dances became more technical and edgy. Great times!!! Thanks for sharing!!

That is what we use to do. The Boogaloo and the Jerk were my favorite. I don't remember seeing them do the "Pony". I went on Miami, FL Rick Shaw show dancing. I loved it, wanted to be a dancer, then got hit by a car... My parents didn't mind it too much. Good exercise for sure. The neighborhood kids would get together and dance everywhere we could.
