@@elephantricity DBM1 was arguably Jon's worst vocals. They're his softest, shoutiest vocals even more so than Deathstar. If you want good skrams era Mess vocals, listen to Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean. At least he emotes on that album.
Kurt was the best dgd era , self titled and happiness are so diverse and crazy , incredible melodies mixed with the power of the screams, great crafted songs
Kurt is my favorite singer but man I wish I could have traveled back in time to this set to give this dude a bottle of water since his throat dried up like a desert
People bust on Kurt and Will here, but the two albums with Kurt are my favorite, the whole jazz and funk feel of the records made them really unique in my opinion
I hate how everyone disses on Kurt. He has always been my favorite singer in DGD and I think he's superb live. Sure, he sounds like he's struggling a bit, but he pulls through.
He’s just so much better in the studio, he’s way too off of the actual song half the time it bugs me personally but the song is just a tab faster than it should be and it throws the whole thing off for me

Will swan is a god! Playing that guitar on Lemon Meringue Tie, screaming, and unlike Jon mess he screams every single line with no break! Not dissing mess he's sweet, but will is the king pin!
I will never dispute Will's god status. However, his screams just aren't very good live. They sound sick as hell on the album, but not live. He doesn't miss anything on guitar when he screams which is just ridiculous. But he is too short of breathe to say the words especially in 'Carl Barker', and it just doesn't sound good. Oh. And Jon Mess is an amazing screamer. He gets better with every album and Acceptance Speech is his best for quality of his screams. Wheveras most screamers vocals get worse every album, his get better. Holy fuck this band gets better with ever album.

For all those saying they love Kurt, check out the band he went to right after DGD named A lot Like Birds. The album conversation piece is my top album by far.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. DGD's guitarists are amazing, because it's like they're both lead and rhythm guitarists at the same time. They're so magical and perfect.
I usually don't like newer post hardcore bands but I love this sound, it doesn't seem very derivative and you can tell they were trying new things, makes me kinda mad at myself for dismissing them back in the day.
i love seeing this old video of My favorite dance gavin dance lineup except without jon mess....Kurt kills it live soo much more now with A Lot LIke Birds...but this is definitely his best work...I listen to the self titled album the most out of all the albums because it had kurt and jon mess..LEGENDARY BAND..and no one gives enough credit to Matt Mingus...that guys a genius
Will Swan is one of the rare guitarists that can scream AND play lead guitar at the same time! it must have been a big responsibility to take over the screaming after Jon Mess left

It was a fantastic show!...im in there somewhere. lol. DGD Rocks! Kut did have a rough night on his high notes but oh well, but couldn't notice when I was there. ha, but ya. Great stuff!
Kurt is really struggling here :/ and Jon mess is amazing, and will is a boss but he is totally taking breaks. Jon would go a long time without taking a breath and then break. will takes a breath every 3 seconds but doesn't breakstrain.
No. Will is awesome. He does what he has to to keep it sounding amazing. I get what he does and the difficulty of bit, being a musician myself. Props to Jon and Will. Also I'm a WOman :)
Although it wasn't his best show, Kurt Travis does not get the recognition he deserves. He is a fucking genius. Hopefully everyone knows about his band after DGD called A Lot Like Birds
its funny people talk about how bad jonny is when he was high but at least the lyrics that he could remember sounded good. kurt seamed like he was really struggling here.

Yes, a ton. I've been filming a ton lately and haven't been home to edit them, plus I'll be out of town this week, so as soon as I get back a whole bunch will be going up. All the bands we have interviews with are listed on the left side of my channel. =]
Kurt sounded m Horrible in Carl barker he wasn't carrying out the notes he was cutting them short making it sound like he was yelling more than singing
21wyndan I mean, live shows take a fuck ton of energy compared to studio recording . that was 50 mins worth of singing, it was probably hurting at that point
These guys are sweet. I love them cuz they are so different and so far from mainstream. I like seeing modern bands do their own thing for once. When I saw them last year they were WAY better, but I'm sure they are just having an off night. I love Kurts voice. And I wanna give the drummer mad props not only for his drumming but also for his kick-ass set! I want his drum set!!!!

People, think about this way. During a tour, you get between 20-50 different venues. Depending on which day this took place, during the beginning or the end makes a HUGE difference. Remember, these guys are SCREAMING. No matter how well you take care of your voice, it's going to get fucked up eventually, so give these dudes some credit. Yes, Jonny has his problems, but he does sound pretty good live. Will and Kurt did their best. Give them credit.
