Quick question- just been looking into the group- they are coming back with a new album but with only 2 members? From what I’ve read one member left in 2017 due to health reasons? So it’ll just be a 2 girl group?
@steffenjachnow8176

They already were only a two-girl group when they released their third studio album in 2019. But for their live shows, they have an additional dancer ever since to keep the symmetry.

The added dancers have always been from Sakura Gakuin (as were Suzuka, Moa and Yui) so the girls were already familiar with each other. (more about SG at another time)

Yui left in 2018 due to ill health and had being told by her Doctors not to perform at Legend S performance ( Su's 20th Birthday show ) in December 2017 . The girls you see in Yui's place are the Avengers ( no not them Avengers) 3 girls who take it in turns filling Yui's spot . Su said in interview no one could take Yui's place she will always be a part of the group . BabyMetal are back with a concept album and 2 shows 28th and 29th of January 2023 plus many other things . Now is the time to hope i can purchase a ticket ( tickets are achieved by a lottery system) arrange flights from UK to Japan and hotel rooms in Toyko Japan . Will i succeed OTFGK. 😁🤘🦊🤘

Nice reaction. Folks use to joke that Su did the recordings on a treadmill. I do think she has found a way to sing with the cadence of the dance routine in mind. She knows just when to breath to get the most out of the line she is about to sing. On their birthdays Yui and Moa have taken the lead during the song Headbanger. While they do really well with it. Su still hasn't told them the secret of when to breath yet. For Moa's 20th birthday she got a second shot at it. The crowd cheering for her made her smile and she misses her breath spot. She almost makes it through it, but you can hear her breathing. Yes, they sing live. Su is an incredible singer and dancer. As for dance routines they do. Like their music which is a blend of genres. The dance routines they do are a blend of styles as well. The puppet style may have been on purpose after all. They did a lot of styles during shows. It's cool that you can pick them out. For some of their more dance routine type stuff. Look for songs like Uki Uki Midnight. Or for their more mature kawaii style check out Kagarou. Their dance routines run the gamut of simple but effective to stop nobody should be able to do that while singing. But as Su has said All things are possible through Babymetal. I tend to follow her other words of wisdom. "Don't Think. Feel". Yes, she paraphrased Bruce Lee. It still applies though. I keep waiting for them to say, "Are You Not Entertained?". They work a crowd into frenzies. Check out some of their festival appearances. When Su calls for a big circle. She gets a big circle. Also look for their little stage antics while they perform amongst each other. Moa and the drummer making faces at each other. Su and Moa trying to make each other laugh. And Moa being Moa. Which means she's playing to the audience. In one performance she was interacting so long she almost missed the formation in the middle of the stage. But she ran over and in one swift move stepped right into formation and into the routine as if she was there the whole time. They do a lot of practicing. And it shows. Their work ethic has won them a lot of fans in the business. Lastly but not least.respect

The choreography is cleverly designed so that the most energetic parts of the dance don't happen when singing is required, or when Su-metal (lead vocalist) is singing she does a modified version of the movements to allow her the stability to sing properly while Yuimetal and Moametal do the bulk of the dancing. That said, given that they do live shows that run well over an hour of full choreographed dance routines while singing live as well, its safe to say that they are incredibly aerobically fit.

From everything I have seen they sing their lines live. Many of the videos are compilations of two separate concerts, but have little post production. They were deliberately selected for Babymetal for their talent, and it shows in each performance.

The musicians in the 'back' are known as the 'Kami Band' (God band) and is composed of master-class artists. Hideki Aoyama (drummer) is an absolute machine...on a fairly regular basis he needs to helped off the stage because his legs are pretty much dead when they have some of their longer shows. This is one of their earlier shows, you should look into some of their more current ones to see how they've evolved....they're always working hard and smiling up there, regardless :)

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 In BABYMETAL concerts, performers need a lot of energy and they require it to the audience. Last year, my smart watch indicated more than 600Kcal consumption after a 90-minute almost non-stop show at Budokan, the same legendary arena in this video (even without mosh pit in the all-seater arena). BM works well as workout 😄. Now, 8 years after this video, the girls have grown up into beautiful ladies yet choreo is energetic as ever and singing is getting better. Please try newer ones after they stepped into international music scene right after this concert in 2014.

Yava! has my favorite choreo. It's not super sophisticated, but it's *so* fun. The songs off their newest album will probably have the most complex/mature choreography, but it never reaches the level of most typical idol groups. Still, it's perfectly suited to them. Headbanger and Road of Resistance's choreo makes me tired just watching it. Awadama Fever's choreo is extra fun and cutesy. But Karate is the song I have to mirror the choreo every time I see it. (As much as I can manage from my chair, as I'm disabled, but it's fun nonetheless.) 🤘🦊🤘

_Maada da yo!_ 🦊🤘🔥 Nice you're back with full BabyMetal song and following our suggestions and just right on time with some great news about BM returns with new single coming this month and live performance along with new album next year so keep enjoying your ride until you reach this new era is getting everyone hype. This song is among many BM fans one of the most representative of their kawaii metal sound, is heavy but is cute or kawaii at the same time with so much energy and crazy circle pits and mosh from the crowd, not on this performance but you'll see that in another. Didn't know about that mosh condition at Slipknot live, crazy, but i guess there's a lot of time when fans do this type of mosh very aggressively and risking health from other fans, that's not like that usually in BM mosh pit, in fact is called "mosh'sh pit" and is a safer version, if something happens to you everyone will stop to help you out. This was live at Budokan Arena 2014 reaching a huge milestone with only 14 and 16 yo, after this they started their World Tour. Before this, when they started this project didn't have a real band when performing live, instead you'll see on stage a band wearing skeleton costumes and air playing instruments, is called "baby-bones". Later they implemented this set of real musicians at live concerts called Kami Band, "kami" means god or spirit, and they're the band of god, the Fox God, none of them are official members and they wearing burial white robes and face paint to imitate those spirit entities, later on, after 2019 you'll see wearing mask and black robes. The Kami Band are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males. They are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away in 2018) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. This crazy beautiful song is about hide & seek tag game, but isn't just any other regular child play, they're playing with an Oni, a mythological japanese creature human flesh eater 👹👀 This is heavy af. You can also noticed the punk section, many people reminds it the sound of some of the US rock punk like The Offspring or Green Day, and the heavy part apparently got some Slipknot vibes. Kami Band intro are rare and only on certain songs but throughout different live performance you'll hear slightly different changes because like i said, not always were the same members and even the same members sometimes change their solo a little bit. If you want another melting faces intro you should go for: - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at this same venue you just saw, is a SuMetal solo and I'm pretty sure you're gonna love it, "Kawaii Metal" got the clip. The choreography on some of this early era aren't so hard maybe like you said but none of them lacks of energy and precise synchronicity, probably because of the rotating stage and some changes on the camera angles you won't see this perfectly, that's why for dancers maybe is better to watch fancams focusing on the girls, but just in case i only recommend you to do this after watching the original live performance clip. This song got some others japanese culture reference and some of these moves might be related, although the meaning is widely about hide and seek game they're having a dangerous game with a risky figure, and you can see at the end, and that's just my interpretation, that they didn't finish well after playing with this Oni, or evil creature, after all they're just innocent little girls. And btw yes, they're singing live but being a Bluray release there are little post production touch here and there just to fix some minor details, but they used backing tracks like those growlings you hear, no one special is credited for that, and sometimes you'll hear even the girls with the chorus are backing track, this make sense on certain live concerts due to many reasons, but mainly because you know they're sweating and giving it all on the stage while dancing so there might be sometimes when they need a little breath and that's when the backing track comes in to help a little bit. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘❤️

Great reaction, thanks! And yeah, that should be way more than okay to us. 😁 Great song and performance choice. Videos from this concert (Budokan Black night - Legend Doomsday) and from Legend 1997 are relatively safe to react. Don't know if you realized it by the lyrics but they are playing hide and seek or tag... but with an "oni", a sort of Japanese ogre. "CMIYC" is instrumentally on their heavier side but it has one of their cutest choreos and the infamous "Moa slide" is my favorite part (hilariously at 4:44 mark on your video). They had some issues with that once Moa grew up too much for that movement. 🤣 Yep, they sing live while dancing and that's one of their most appreciated features. Specially for Su-metal's (the lead singer) vocals. Until next time!

Great reaction and good to see a different take focusing on the choreo. The choreo is relatively simple because it isn't dance as we might normally know it. Their choreo is very much related to the song and interpreting the meaning, but most importantly it is designed to involve the audience, to get them joining in, leading them and showing them when to jump, pump their fist, shout and so on. 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre 👹 popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... and the idea of that probably amuses me a lot more than it really should 🤭), very little gets any more metal than that. 🤘 Where you said what they were doing reminded you of puppetry they were actually mimicking the Oni with their hands out like claws. The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀👹 The Kami Band are their backing band for all live performances since this one. Up until this they had played just the encores in some shows and supported BABYMETAL at a couple of festivals. In order of solos that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH on 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. This was their second night (Red Night and Black Night) at the Budokan in Tokyo in March 2014. The Budokan is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics and now also one of the most prestigious venues for concerts in Japan (think Carnegie hall or Madison Square Garden). It is where all Japanese artists aspire to play - not so many ever get to do that. BABYMETAL became the youngest ever female band to headline there (Su was just 16, Yui and Moa still only 14) and they sold it out 2 nights running as their first album was being or was about to be released. They returned in 2021 to play 10 more concerts as part of their 10th anniversary celebration.

Great reaction. It was interesting that you associated this performance with puppetry. I am reminded of Japanese underground theater of the 1970s. This is a form of theater that, roughly speaking, combines the indigenous Japanese sense of misery with surrealism. Japan was one of the earliest countries to show the deepest understanding of surrealism, which was proposed in France in 1920. The cultural background in this piece is wonderfully explained by cutty sark.

Legend doomsday was the name of the concert back then in 2014. Now it is known as Budokan Black Night. You want harder choreography? Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival is a good suggestion. Being focused on Dance, two songs you may want to check out from Babymetal are Yava and something more recent, Kagerou. Two songs consistently rated as favorite choreography among the fanbase. As a choreography and dancer, your opinion of Tales of The Destiny would be very much appreciated in the Babymetal community. Tales of the Destiny is an extremely complex progressive metal song with a gazillion time changes. They've only performed it one time, in front of 55,000 people at Tokyo Dome. I'm sure they were performing with a click track in their IEMs, about the only way you could for that song I would think. However, Su (lead singer) performed the first part of it with her IEM on the fritz. To answer your question, Yui left the group in 2018. They toured that year with Su and Moa (other two girls) and two hired dancers. In 2019, they utilized something they refered to as the "Avengers", which was a rotation of 3 girls filling that 3rd slot. Something else you may want to check out would be the dance troop formed by their choreographer Mikiko called Elevenplay, where they mix dance with technology.

I, uh, really want to know what another choreographer (besides MIKIKOMETAL) thinks of the choreo for Tales of the Destinies, which has only been performed once. That's linked in the reactor-friendly video spreadsheet shared here by KillingMachine, and I just checked that both the logo and non-logo videos work. :D

Good reaction, don't worry, just enjoy the ride 🙂 Babymetal does shows up to 1 hour mostly packed of fast songs, pretty much no delays between songs. Maybe a little fun with the audience. Their bigger shows can be up to 1.5 hours, but then they have more pauses between songs and intro videos, etc. And yes, the singing is live. Especially Su-metal, the 'oldest' in the middle. The other 2 at times for certain shows decide to take a bit of a breather. And choose to not sing certain parts of some songs.

The concert was at Budokan in 2014 and the stage setup is very complicated, IMO a bit too complicated as both Yui and Moa had falls in the concert series. The musicians are Babymetal's backing band called The Kami Band - Babymetal are the three girls. "Catch Me if You Can" is superficially about a playground game where the tagger is called the Oni (a Japanese ogre). The Oni-san growls if Yui and Moa are ready and they reply "No not yet". BM's dance mimes running away and hiding. Oni are also used by parents to scare children into good behaviour and also appear in some regional Spring festivals. They are one of the thousands of kamis or supernatural beings that the Japanese honor. Then the lyrics mention that its "dangerous to go out in red shoes" which is a line from a children's poem, that all Japanese know, about a young girl wearing red shoes who is stolen away by foreigners. So we have lyrics about childhood fears and boogie men; this really is playing on child hood fears of losing their parents and being taken away. Of course it's also a great heavy jam with the Kamis shinning again and Su, Moa and Yui performing their hearts out. If you want to check out some excellent choreography take a look at Atarashii Gakko. They are an Japanese anti-idol group who do all their own choreography and even do it for other groups. They have a dance practice of the song Candy up which shows some interesting dance, just search on "atarashii gakko candy practice"

@@xiaouiris I suggest that you use the links below From the Babymetal Reactor Resource ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q40VmTHSh4c.html Going forward, if reactors want to keep reacting to the videos, I've come up with a solution that will make it possible to continue using the videos with logos that have already been tested against blocks. I've made a spreadsheet - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZYdthVAHYaOAYL6AuhVOHotQinMoPPFEuspqDMIIGD4/edit#gid=0 with links to both the logo and the non-logo videos, hosting them on a Russian social media site that won't remove them, and is out of the reach of the copyright trolls. There are a bit over 30 videos on there now, but I'll keep uploading more every day until they're all backup. I'll also be adding new videos that I'll test on an alt RU-vid account before adding to the spreadsheet. If you can't access the spreadsheet for whatever reason, here are direct links to both the non-logo videos and the videos with logos: No logos - ok.ru/video/c6630874 With logos - ok.ru/video/c7184602 For reactors that want to put their logo over the videos, here is a link to the logos I use that are already made transparent - drive.google.com/file/d/1JUVfJGp36xR2n1FHl7PzRIxXhA5P4VyW/viewor you can use whatever logo you'd like. You can download the videos, which I recommend since the site can be a bit laggy sometimes, from this free website - okvid.download Although there are other videos on my channel there, only use the ones on the spreadsheet because some of the other non-logo videos aren't RU-vid-safe. The dance style of BABYMETAL is more akin to what people call "interpretative dancing" where the dancing really tries to convey often in the simplest of manners what the song and the lyrics are about. For example, they're simply mimicking running away in this song because they're trying to hide from a Japanese oni (ogre/demon). All of that sparkled with cutesy gestures and movements and smiles.

Sugoi! Every BABYMETAL song contains choreography. The 3 girls started in BABYMETAL when they were 11 & 12 years old. Their backing group is the KAMI Band (KAMI means god, spirit, deity) who early in their career often dressed as viewed here, in traditional Japanese burial robes & corpse paint/makeup. The name BABYMETAL isn't an indication of the girl's age, but represents the birth of a new genre they invented - "kawaii" metal, a fusion of J-pop aesthetics & heavy metal. BABYMETAL is best during LIVE performances, with the exceptions of the Official MV's of "Karate" & "Megitsune", although LIVE versions are good too. Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult #kawaiimetal #funmetal

Great reaction. Yes it is LIVE. If you continue to explore the music catalog of these young ladies and their world class backing band The Kami Band I believe that you will be amazed at the stamina, voice control and range, stage presence, discipline and sheer talent. Suzuka Nakamoto (lead vocalist) was only 16 years of age here while her backup singers (friends and former Sakura Gakuin classmates) Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno were only 15. React to LIVE performances when possible as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE song/performances and every one is different. They are fearless exploring different music genres. I recommend Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. The choreography (the karate dance moves and singing are amazing). Also Shanti Shanti Shanti LIVE (BabyMetal goes Bollywood) Syncopation LIVE Night Night Burn LIVE (BabyMetal does Latin) Sooo many others out there as well. Suggest you stay away from any LIVE performances from Glastonbury though as the BBC ruined the sound production eith mic not turned in and sound at the wrong volumes etc. Hope to see you again.

what a bad translation of the lyrics why did they put tiger if the lyrics in japanese say oni which means demon or devil, out of that if you add the lyrics with the choreography it shows that at the end the devil or demon finds them and disembowels them, of course depending on how you want to see it.
