dreamcatcher choreographer Hwang Soo Yeon was inspired by the movie "US" for this choreography.... Sooyeon nim "said that it'll be fun for us to search for the hidden doppelganger, human chain, mirror, rabbit, scissors and the hanja character in the choreo..."

Looks to me like some of the members were staff of a cursed hotel/amusement park, and the rest were naive guests who became part of the doll collection maybe... That's all I got

Two theories: - Jiu runs a carnival and circus resort hotel. She is a mystical puppeteer and controls a group of five dolls to do her bidding around the resort. My guess is that she is after Gahyeon who is still human and not a doll yet. Then at the end, Jiu captures her and makes her a doll like the others. - The other theory is mostly the same, with the exception that Gayheon and Jiu swap roles. I can see the ending where Jiu becomes a doll for Gahyeon instead since Gahyeon is on the throne and Jiu isn't. It's important to note that Gahyeon is very front and center in this video and the main character of the story, followed by Jiu. Gahyeon is also the only one to really make distinct facial expression changes, perhaps signifying her intent to do evil or signifying that she's the only one still human amongst the dolls. It could also be her swapping personalities from human to doll in order to trick or control Jiu. The story they have could go anywhere and I'm here for it. It has been said that the theme and story is heavily inspired by Jordan Peele's "Us" so perhaps the theme of doppelgangers has something to do with it too.

Officially the song that unravels a story of an obsession and longing for love. The capitalise BE in the title is supposed to sound likea Korean word meaning sadness, and the title BEcause could be loosely translate as the cause of sadness, and paired with the line BEcause I like you or BEcause I love you, the sadness is caused by liking or loving someone. Also, the MV plot theme has another layer that is said to borrow quite a bit of plot elements from the horror movie "US" where doppelgangers who were forced to live underground depraved of the "finer" things and are trying to are trying to take over their "privileged" above ground counterparts...won't go into much details as it would be better if you watch the movie yourself if you haven't). There are a lot of details in the MV that point to this such as the movie "US" has a hall of mirror, someone being captured and replaced, mirrored choreography etc., along with easter eggs that shows such as the MV is 3:13 minute long (coincidence? I think not) , and that the opening scene and ending scene has the members in completely different outfits, as well as the completely drain symmetrical hourglass at the end indicating that at some point, the doppelgangers replaced their original counterpart. Also, musicality, it plays into the theme of opposite doppelgangers where there is a two part chorus (whimsical and cute, and a more rock follow up) and two part bridge (slow singing and followed up by a low rap with atmospherically vocals behind) trying to show this mirror duality. There also another layer to the plot involving Gahyeon which I still trying to figure out (which I suspect is tied to the twist in the US movie).

For anyone who is not understanding what’s going on I’ll explain. If any of you have seen the “US” movie the video is in reference to that except in Dreamcatcher’s version and their doppelgängers actually won and were able to trap the real members inside and he circus(why they are wearing different clothes, Jiu smiles at the end and you hear Gahyeon laughing) Remember the movie Lupita trapped her real self in the circus when she was young and the doppelgänger was living a normal life while the real on suffered and it made her crazy. In the video Gahyeon the puke be Lupita except the Gahyeon at the start of the video was the doppelgänger that had been living a normal life the real Gahyeon(who is evil) is wearing the white dress she and the other doppelgängers come up with a plan to trap the other girl’s(real members and Gahyeon’s doppelgänger) and break free which they ultimately did in the end. This is just my take on it but since the video is inspired by the movie and we had to guess it who was the doppelgänger amount the members in the beginning I’m guessing it’s Gahyeon unless it’s a trick and it’s SuA she’s been suspicious too but that’s what I got from the video.

The mv is inspired by Us! But they are dolls instead of doppelgangers and I think the real humans are maybe collecting them? At the outro I thought Jiu might be a doll but all of the others are the human versions so it wouldn't make sense. I think the Jiu and Gahyeon dolls are perfected so human Jiu is happy. Also, the others might not know about it or are forced to stay with her and being corrupted so that's why they're running.

Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a Korean written character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that. The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here. She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "You turn blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. If you want to find a connection to the Dystopia trilogy, you could say that this might be a criticism of overly obsessive fans, who turn to malicious comments and other bad things, but I am not sure about that. In any case, Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

i just thought of this theory watching your reaction lol but i think the decoration on the sides of the members' faces links with the masks in sua's second prechorus - each mask is unique and has a different design which includes decoration on the faces. so that (and it being linked with the movie 'US') might mean that the members we see in the concierge area are the doppelgangers (or themselves) wearing the faces of the 'real' members we see in the amusement park ... but that's just my take hehe thank you for your reactions as always!!
