First time the game gave me a genuine taste of the despair that the characters are feeling. Edit: Also, the "Thank you for making me remember what is most important to me"... I've always looked at it as her acting as a protector in doing what she did, but maybe this conversation (if we're considering it happened in the timeline played) made it the opposite. She may have strictly followed orders and not stepped in if it weren't for that realization. Her last act of protection was hypocritically her first act of selfishness and independence- something Fuyu didn't want, but that she wanted to do to help him. A shift from protection out of nature to protection out of will, protection out of love. Falling into stone rather than confessing her feelings was another form of protection since she knew she would die. It's a shame she didn't realize that he was in that place long before her.

Sakuya first appeared in Touhou 6, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, which was released in 2002. This game was released in 2012z Sakuya throws knives as her spellcard attacks, and Peko uses a sword to fight as well. A knife and a sword are quite similar in some ways. Sakuya and Peko both have silver hair, and have 2 braids. They both serve a master (Sakuya serves Remilia, and Peko serves Fuyuhiko.) Therefore...Peko was based off Sakuya?!
