This is more irony than foreshadowing but during the SDR2 trail 6 investigation when Hajime learns about Hopes Peak giving Izuru multiple talents he says something like “I wish they’d given one of those extra talents to me”
another foreshadowing: remember in the first class trial where Tsumigi said she is going to the bathroom? and then monokuma said: hmm interesting, Tenko thought that he was being a pervert but he was actualy kind of hinting that Tsumigi went to kill.
Also, the fact the Monokubs steered away the conversation from that detail to make a juvenile joke. I always thought they did that deliberately, but in hindsight, they probably misinterpreted Monokuma as well, forgetting
only if they found the goddamn hidden room then it would have turned out far better….now rantaro is just a flat unknown character at this point, killed too early :(
Also, in the first game when you meet Chihiro he asks if they’ve met before, hinting to how they all knew each other before the killing game. I find it strange how no one brings it up
@@mikefrog6830 I feel like if it is deja vu moment, it could hint that maybe they both the met the same way in the prologue, as they did in their normal days at the academy. Since deja vu is a feeling of familiarity.
@@stacieh799 ouuu. You right. It's probably the feeling of familiarity... It's funny when I saw it I just thought ntn of it but looking back that was some deep foreshadowing
I’m really surprised no one is talking about this anywhere but if you speak to Chiaki in chapter 5 at the hotel arcade room (I can’t remember exactly when but I think it’s after the bomb goes off) she’ll tell Hajime about a nightmare she had where she was playing an impossible game of Tetris.
A lot of Chiaki's free time events are forshadowing too. I remember the one were she told Hajime her ''father'' was a programmer (Chihiro/Alter Ego), that she'd never been able to touch an animal before, and little stuff like that that hint of her real identity.
After Kirumi's trial, Kokichi says 'Running away to live might not be so bad', which foreshadows him utilizing the truth of the outside world to stop the killings.
@Malaska it's true though. After Chapter 2 Kokichi starts acting different. he stops reacting to corpses, saying they should be used to them by now (except gonta's execution) starts writing the "this world is mine" message. starts gathering clues from murder scenes in his room aand starts lying about enjoying this killing game, meaning he put his mastermind plan into motion.
In one of the Monokuma Theaters from Danganronpa THH, Monokuma says "Whenever I see a cute girl, I cant stop the urge to stare with intensity, the other day I rode my bike to the trainstation, i was in the bathroom JUST LOOKING AT MYSELF IN THE MIRROR", which can be take as a hint for his true identity... A cute girl 👀
@@wlaffleaffle4705 i don't know if you've seen the animes yet (specifically hope arc & despair arc) so i don't wanna spoil stuff for you, but there's no way that woman is anything other than straight😭
YES IM SO GLAD YOU MENTIONED WHEN HIRO PREDICTED THERE WOULD BE NO MURDERS!!!!! I’m replaying it with my sister and I just picked up on that yesterday when we were at this part!!!! I thought it was the coolest thing that Hiros predictions actually come true so often!!!!
It’s also interesting that the ‘mother of my children and your children is the same woman’ prediction has a 1/3 chance of coming true if you just randomly select an option at the question that can cause the bad ending. A 1/3 chance… about 30%. Which of course, is Hiro’s famed accuracy of predictions.
I remember that in the true ending of Salmon mode in V3, Monokuma says "This outcome doesn't mean i lost" and that he has plans for the future, i think that could be foreshadowing a new game. But who knows
The translators made a crucial oversight though. Monokuma doesn't say "everyone forced to play the killing game will die" in the dub, he says "every student participating in this killing game will die" in the dub. The only time Monokuma says "everyone forced to play the killing game will die" is in Shuichi's flashback.
@@jeffeverywhere Then... what should have happened is... that the murder was just going to be dismissed as a punish for not killing anyone, right? They didn't do this because it would spoil the game, but ONLY if you know the plot twist, and they wanted to kill the main character, just because... am I missing something? That's cheating!
@@revolvingworld2676 🤔I'm not sure i get your point... (I don't intend to be rude) But if you want an answer, I would say yes, she would survive because she entered by herself, and didn't get punished because she killed Rantaro "with the mastermind's motive", not as a student who wanted to get out
@@carlosfigueroa8322 technically, Tsumugi never stated that she voluntarily joined the killing game, plus, in Rantaro's video message, he states to himself "you wanted this killing game", so the threat that Monokuma made was most likely to get Tsumugi to commit murder because her life was on the line. Because if her life was not on the line, she could have just let Rantaro die, and the game would continue from there.
There's also one in Danganronpa 2 Chapter 5 which happened after the warehouse caught on fire. When everyone is outside and willing to go in the warehouse again to find Nagito, Hajime says something like this "I feel like something is about to stab me...stab me through my whole body" and then minutes after you see Nagito's body with a bunch of stab wounds in it.
When Angie was forming her cult in chapter 3, she said that they can live in harmony in the academy in the outside world and smashed the flashback light proclaiming “we don’t need our memories” we then find out that the outside world is an apocalyptic wasteland and then find out it’s not real and the flashback light only provided false memories.
@@Markzyan247 I think the reason for that is because Angie doesn't seem to Logic it out. She is like Kaito in the that way, except she displaces the the conviction in which she says things onto Atua. So when she accuses Himiko in Chapter 2's trail, instead of just accepting she was wrong, she says "Atua went to bed angry because you doubted him." If we assume Atua is a creation of Team Danganronpa, what is she really saying is "You doubted me, so I am going to ignore you" I like Angie, but you can see, to some people, it sounds like Angie is condensing to people with no proof.
@@Fragmentsinfractals488 thats not a good enough reason to foam at the mouth in anger whenever she spoke and wish for her death so badly and party when she died. No matter her displacement of responsibility onto her god, she was still right. She was trying to end the killing game. She had the ovaries to stand up to the monokubs and smash the flashback light. That takes BALLS. But ppl didnt see that and just hated on her cuz she "robbed them" of exposition lmao. Ppl who hate on her because of her beliefs are just disrespectful toward other people's religions and Ppl who still hate on her after finishing the game, after realizing she was always right about the mastermind and about the killing game are, as I said earlier, bitches. Lol Gonta did NOTHING and Himiko was yapping about her magic and shit but everybody LOVES them! That's fishy to me 👁💅✒🗒
Angie too or more specifically Atua, angie brke the flashlights because she said atua said that fhe flashlights are a waste of time and is problematic. Also angie/Ayua. Predicted something in class 2 in guessing a murder i think? Idk
@Caitlin Santasa She made a bunch of random guesses that ended up being true. Off the top of my head, there was the part in the Chapter 2 investigation where she said that a ninja could've scaled the bathroom wall.
In the first Game, in the Monokuma theater, before Chihiro was killed, Monokuma mention that there's a Big difference between doing things accidental and doing things on purpose, like saying oops I killed him, and thats right I killed him. He even said that try to read between lines, and coincidently Chihiro's Murder was an accident, I don't know if this count as foreshadowing
I was once watching the execution video of the characters and someone in the comments pointed out that during kaede's excecution, she was only dancing on the white key titles of the piano and not the black ones which was a hint that she wasn't really the blackened of that chapter
I also want to add that the song she played REQUIRED black keys to sound well. The ultimate pianist was so innocent the last some she played was ruined.
@@starfly7479 It is if you get a certain item from the Mono machine. Tsumugi takes Kaede to do her nails, but Rantaro jumps in the middle of it. After Rantaro finishs, Tsumugi says Rantaro should ""go backflip on a landmine." RIP.
I noticed something about the scene where Naegi is on the garbage place or something, on the right side you can see a rocket. It is probably the same rocket on Jin Kirigiri's execution on the beginning of the game.
Honestly, I absolutely adore the moment in DR2 (chapter one i think?) where Hajime looks up to the sky while standing next to the pool and says “Is someone watching me?” because the future foundation WAS watching him
I'm not sure if this is significant or not, but in danganronpa 2, when everyone boards the elevator, all the characters that would make it to the sixth trial are standing very close together. You can see this very clearly before the first class trial.
The biggest big brain foreshadowing I saw in a comment section was people saying that in V3 Case 1, Angie said Atua said to her that the killer came from the room behind the bookcase. Well, that's actually how the killer actually killed Rantaro.
can we talk about just before Chihiro's death in the anime, we see "her" room and we see a tool kit. not a sewing kit. tis is foreshadowing to the fact that "she" is actually a he. and if you think about it, that's some masterful foreshadowing right there
Remind me, do they mention that only the guys have toolkits? Or is Chihiro's seen in one of those cut together sections to make you think it isn't his?
@@Marigold11037 only the boys have tool kits and the girls all have sewing kits and yes it is stated in the anime twice, once during the start of chapter 1 and the other ro prove leon was sayakas killer
@@Marigold11037 Yes, it's stated that boys get tool kits and the girls get sewing kits. Chihiro's toolkit is seen on the table in his room, with his face clearly shown so it's obvious it's his toolkit. However if you where watching the anime for the first time, you'd probably not notice it as it's never outright pointed out and you'd be too caught up in the story.
The Twist that the first Games where all fictional in V3 has been foreshadowed in the very first Chapter.., Kaede finds a Poster promoting "Ultra Despair Girls 2" and says it looks like a Game
@@pausedog910 it is foreshadowing because why would kaede say it looks like a game if theyre both real people? its a hint for the everything is fiction thing
There's Monokuma in Trigger Happy Havoc mentioning his 3 sizes. For those who don't know, 3 sizes means body measurements for females. The three include bust, waist, and hips which foreshadowed that the mastermind is actually female.
It's not that commonly talked about but in chapter 3 of trigger happy havoc, Asahina says the world is ending because they have no protein powder. In chapter 6, you find out the world is actually ending.
Interesting note: in Danganronpa v3, when you first come across the flashback lights, in chapter 2, Tsumugi comments, "Well, there are those flashy things. Like those neurlyzers from Men In Black". Foreshadowing the fact that flashback lights work the exact same way as MIB neurlyzers, they don't uncover lost memories, they create fake ones,
When Monokuma said everyone forced to participate will die I thought it meant he would kill everyone **except** Rantaro since he did unintentionally volunteer to be in the 53 game But this one is brig brain
I've noticed all of them when I replayed the games, but one thing I've noticed the most is how Tsumugi makes a _lot_ of references. For example, in chapter 3, she says someone could have used glowing paint under the floorboards to stab Tenko, which is a clear hint of her knowing about the previous killing games
Man sometimes I love reddit. How did they even notice that the others weren't forced... But then again there's the theory the Tsumugi was cosplaying the others in the audition tape bc it's an awkward angle and looks like her research lab. Plus, in the beginning Shuichi and Kaede clearly knew their names and were kidnapped.
Maybe getting kidnapped was their way of letting them know they got accepted into the game without outright telling them. I don't know why they couldn't have just told them in an email, but that's likely their invitation. Also, I personally believe that She *does* have Cospox; If she's faking it, surely she'd be able to cosplay as the participants without the rash as a way to toy with them.
Here are the stuff I believe was foreshadowing Monomi hanging behind Mikan is a hint that Mikan kills Ibuki Hiyoko saying that Hajime doesn't stand out in chapter 3 was a hint he had no talent Mukuro saying "This wasn't supposed to" Was foreshadowing
@@pausedog910 that's literally what happened though, Mukuro trusted her sister and that line only makes sense when you figure that out. Foreshadowing doesn't have to be super obvious.
@@pausedog910 foreshadowing is anything that indicates a future plot point. mukuro’s entire time as junko is full of foreshadowing, and that line is the cherry on top.
OK SO I scrolled through all the comments and NOBODY SAID THIS so anyways in danganronpa v3 chapter 3 (I think) before Angie gets killed, in the cafeteria (I think) Tsumugi says something about I QUOTE “A handsome god with long, black hair and red eyes.” this description perfectly fits the second ultimate despair, Izuru Kamukura, especially with him being one of the ultimate despairs, being worshiped by the remnants, as a god. Just putting this out there, don’t harass me for any inaccuracies, or if it’s stated in the video.
I I noticed too! Actually, before I played V3 I was spoiled that Izuru appeared in the game, and I tought that Tsumugi's reference to himas Atua was that. Oh I wrong was I. At least the spoiler didn't actually spoil me lol
Someone may have already said this but I’m still gonna say it anyway So in Kade’s execution there are things on the piano mantle the foreshadow to all the other executions. There is a thorny vine inside the lid of the piano, there is this big bug on the mantle, and the big price in the middle looks like a spaceship. Also I can’t remember what the one for Koryekiyo’s execution but it’s there somewhere. Lastly in Kaede’s execution the song used De Flowerez is mainly played with black keys but she only plays the white keys, foreshadowing that Kaede wasn’t actually the blackened.
In a special event with Kaede, Rantaro and Tsumugi, Tsumugi is painting Kaede's nails and then Rantaro comes over and does a better job of Kaede's nails. Tsumugi glares at Rantaro and her voice over says "Rest in peace" Then she straight up kills him in the first chapter.
My personal favourites are for v3-5: Kaito saying upon meeting him that he committed identity fraud/falsified his papers for his astronaut exam, how the door leading to his lab was checkered & black and white (making people things how it could be Kokichi’s lab) and how the design on his shirt is from kabuki theatre (a sign that he knows how to act, and maybe a greater sign for the end of v3 in general). Also if it counts for anything, his character art/student profile has him smoking and then his lung disease shows up. :p
I think Daganronpa 1 and 2 did foreshadowing better then V3 then again I think the first two game had both better writing and plot exaction then V3. But is no one talking about how well Ultra Despair girls did too. Right off the bat we know Monaca is sus and it's hinted at that the kids suffered through severe trauma. Plus it's even hinted at that Nagito is helping Toko and Komaru by giving them new truth bullets and the fact that Toko seemed to hint at a different motive for helping Komaru I swear this series is genius.
But that wont really make sense though? Why would Nagito just say that randomly to Hajime if its just a nod to the light novel? It makes more sense hes implying that Hajime is the mastermind
Also another foreshadowing is that if you do all of Chihiro’s free time events you go to his room and his bed is blue all of the guys got blue beds and the girls got pink ones so this foreshadows him actually being male
also in the anime, if you've seen it, just before his death the camera shows you his room, he has a tool kit, not a sewing kit, and i thought that was genius
The one that always gets me is the discussion around Alter Ego in THH about what it means to be human vs an AI, and can an AI really be your friend. Because then the next game cranks that idea up to 100 with Chiaki
Fuyuhiko:you better not say we're fictional characters Tsumugi:Wow,you're clever, guess what?YOU ARE FICTIONAL,YOU ARE ALL FICTIONAL,THE KILLING GAMES ARE FICTIONAL,EVEN THE HOPES PEAK KILLKNG GAME,even if you are not in this program,as long as you are part of Danganronpa, you are fictional
v3: I always think abt the third trial when miu mentions that only the peabrains have died so far. And then. And then the next chapter happens ☹️. Also during the third chapter when kokichi mentioned he knew lock picking, i remember maki saying that that kind of thing was better suited for Petty Thieves and 🥁🥁🥁🥁 DICE...
SPOILER: In Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, Touko Fukawa and Komaru Naegi found a note that said something like, the true despair is the one at the top of Future Foundation. This should have been a big hint as to the identity of the real mastermind of the final killing game in Danganronpa 3 - Future Arc later.
Spoiler alert The theme song of the anime of the video game also have foreshadowing (Never Say Never) about Danganronpa V3. "Reality slips far away, Fiction comes alive, We start to play it." Later the lyrics say, "So I listen to the world and know right from wrong
SPOILER: In Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, Genocider Shou slashed Nagito Komaeda’s legs with her scissors. This was why later in Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Destroyer, Hajime Hinata had to help Nagito stand up by holding his hand twice after Nagito was woken up from the Neo World Program. Also later in Danganronpa 3 - Hope Arc, because of his injured legs, Nagito could only walk very slowly, so he could only lightly kick that tiny pebble off the cliff. And later Akane Owari and Nekomaru Nidai had to carry him on their shoulders as they were.
This isn't a foreshadow but If Kaede and Shuichi didn't talk to Tenko and Kaito, but just straight-up ran to the library, they would've seen Tsumugi bonking Rantaro. Because when we enter the library the secret door had just finished closing. So basically THANKS KAITO AND TENKO Edit: Just a little revelation I had while watching Jay, Though I don't know if anyone else knew this already (Someone probably already thought about this)
SPOILER: Before Chisa Yukizome died in Danganronpa 3 - Future Arc, Kyousuke Munakata had never called her by her first name, even when she always called him by his first name. This was likely because deep down he had known all along that she was tainted with despair. After all, when all the Class 77-B students were supposed to have perished in their classroom, Chisa was still alive in there by herself when Kyousuke arrived.
THERES ANOTHER!! Gonta says he watches the movie about bug to get bug power And tsumigi says "Your gonna get enough bug streanth and have bug swords for arms?"
The one that always stuck out to me in the first game is the Monokuma Theater in Chapter 2 talking about how anyone can commit a crime in a fit of emotion, but it takes a lot more to pre-mediate a murder. At first, it appears to be foreshadowing that the crime was pre-meditated, either by Genocide Jack or Byakuya, but then it's turned on its head in the actual Trial itself, where it turns out to have been a crime of passion by Mondo, who you were ideally warming up to in that Chapter. It really ties in nicely to the overall theme of the Chapter: That it's foolish to judge others by your own values.
DerpyHiro, I kind of disagree, at what you said {3:28}, where Nagito was referencing Hajime being the mastermind or Kaede being a murderer. Kaede and Hajime were not serial killers, though I can see how Izuru or Hajime could fit because of the Ultimate Despair; but then that also wouldn't make sense with how it was told from the perspective of a high school girl. It actually ends up making even less sense because in chapter six, we find out Kaede wasn't even the killer, and we can't really go off what we know of their pregame personalities; because that's unreliable, and while Trumugi does reference the POSSIBILITY of her being related to the Kuzuryuu clan, even if she was, she still wasn't a serial killer (to our knowledge). In chapter six of the second game, Alter Ego Junko even says, and I quote; "You know those murder mysteries where the culprit is really the detective who's investigating the murder...? Well I'm soooooo over predictable crap like that! Just what did you expect at this stage of the game!?" I actually think it was a reference to Danganronpa Zero because of how Ryouko Otonashi was revealed to be Junko Enoshima near the end of the second novel,, which is also foreshadowed throughout the books.
I think I have a theory of how Usami got her name. In Japanese, “usagi”is the word for “rabbit”. Usami is just an avatar created and used by Miaya Gekkougahara. So, “usagi” merged with “Miaya” could become “UsaMi”.
There's more to Hiro's prediction. He says he has 30% accuracy, and in trial 5, there are 3 options. If each player picked at random, he indeed would have predicted correctly about 30% of the time.
There is one in THH Chapter 2 when Aoi asks Celeste and Chihro if they want to go in the Girls locker room to swim both say no and Chihro only says no because he is a guy and wants to hide is secret foreshadowing
Chihiro's free time events foreshadow the garden in Chapter 5. I don't remember the exact details, but he mentions finding a mosquito or an ant (can't remember which one) and says that he wonders if there was an outdoor area it came from.
He says a mosquito got into his room and he couldnt give himself the strength to kill it or move it because he felt bad that it needed his blood to survive!
In Dangaronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Monokuma at one point insulted Monomi by calling her “bakadebusu” in Japanese, which is a combo of “baka” and “debu” and “busu” (all of which are insult words). This is the exact same insult that Junko Enoshima hurled at Mukuro Ikusaba in Danganronpa 3 - Despair Arc.
During Danganronpa 2, Junko goes on a exposition where she says this, " Well, what if you think about it like this? It turns out you guys being Ultimate Despair was just part of the game world. And in truth, those guys from the Future Foundation might be part of the game world, too.. They're simply side characters of the game world whose goal is to offer hopeless hope to you guys.. Well, after saying all that.. I don't even know what's real and whats a game anymore" Tsumugi/Togami "Hope's Peak, the Future Foundation, and the Remnants of Despair do not exist."
Oh Oh I noticed one in V3 recently! When you start the first chapter, talk for the first time to Tsumugi. Kaede never tells her her name, yet Tsumugi calls her Kaede at some point in their conversation, hinting that she is the mastermind, or at least that she knows more than she may show. Edit: Nvm, Shuichi says Kaede's name before, so Tsumugi might have known it from then
I was waiting for someone to bring up Hagakure's prediciton about one of the 3 possible endings for D1 and thank you for starting out with this. His 30 percent accuracy on a good day.
SPOILER: In Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, it was revealed that Monaka Touwa was a genius at creating robots and AIs. In Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, there was a factory in the Neo World Program where a humanoid AI was being assembled. In Danganronpa 3 - Future Arc, Monaka Touwa killed Miaya Gekkougahara (who had helped create and oversee the Neo World Program in Danganronpa 2) and replaced her with a humanoid AI very similar to the one shown in the factory in Danganronpa 2.
SDR2's ridiculous islands, executions, and the fact that one student dies and is somehow transplanted into a robot is a nice way of giving you an *"ohhhhhh"* moment when you realize that they're basically in the Matrix, like, THAT'S why this feels so much sillier and out of place than the first game
another foreshadowing bit is during thh monokuma has said the word “junk” like how mukuro said it when she was alive “*insert dialogue that i dont remember here* and junk” both mukuro dressed as junko, and monokuma have said that
SPOILER: In Dangaronpa IF, Kyouko Kirigiri wondered something about being given false memories. In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, that’s what happens with the flashback lights.
I mean, i didnt think she was lying when she said her name was celestia ludenberg, i just thought she had a japanese mother and an american father- or vice versa, a american mother and japanese father
Dunno if this is on the list, but it's foreshadowing that Kokichi got a body discovery earlier in the game, when later his REAL discovery is suspected to be Kaito.
In DR 2 Sonia speculates that The island that they were on was an artificial one meant to look like Jabberwock island in chapter 2 in the library. Which it was.
Ok let me put more foreshadowing moments. 1. Danganronpav3 chapter 1. After we see rantaro's death, kaede's chat box is bloody. Did ya notice it? 2. During kaede's execution she the monokubs make her step on only the white piano keys hinting that she is not the actual blackened.
BRO are we not gonna talk about how in v3 chapter 3, tsumugi suggests that maybe someone put glowing paint on tenko and stabbed her through the floorboards? and then monokuma said it sounded familiar?
One of my favourite hints of foreshadowing is of the imposter not actually being Togami. He's an inch shorter than the real Togami, which isn't somethinging a lot of people would pick up on. Always thought that was cool.
Does chapter 3 in v3 count as foreshadowing? (click read more to see what I mean since it spoils the game) So as you know in the chapter 3 investigation, Shuichi, Kokichi, Himiko, Tenko and Korekiyo perform the “caged child seance” to “summon” the spirit of Angie. Tenko chooses to be the one that Angie’s spirit goes into. Anyway, before they start, Kokichi says “we wouldn’t want another body discovery announcement, would we?” Or something like that, and then after the “seance” fails, Tenko ends up dead. I kinda thought Kokichi foreshadowed Tenko’s death, but then again, Korekiyo does say “the seance works better on a girl” or something similar to that.
I think my favourite foreshadowing moment took place during the sdra2 animation (if its called that) . Whilst the first danganronpa cast bolts up the windows of the school, Junko proceeds to throw a wrench at makoto, which he then slipped and managed to doge the wrench. Murkuro asks junko 'are you going to kill him (makoto)?' and junko says she'll pass. She also says that no way he can mess up her plan. He ends up messing up her plan.
I don't know if this counts but v3's chapter 3 title tells you that Angie is going to die since the title was "Transfer student from beyond the grave". It also kinda mentions the weird summoning thingy in the beyond the grave
