She still did attempt to murder Leon. Not saying that I don’t understand why she would do it, but the intent of ending a life was there. It’s hard to justify.
That's true, it was something I considered at the beginning of the game, what if someone chooses to kill one person so they could get help from the outside world for everyone else as soon as possible. Like the "would you kill 1 person to save 15 people" question. But then you discover the rest of the rules, and sadly, the twist story ending, etc.

Plus she stated before that she grew up w/out a mother and had worked really hard + put herself in uncomfortable situations just to make her career, only to then see that career and the people she had achieved it with supposedly dead on tape. Ofc she attempted to frame someone for murder but I think she had one of the most justifiable reasons to do so in all of the games
Sayaka is interesting because, despite being the first person to break, you never get to see how she would react to her facade being exposed, its pretty hard to imagine that she is anything other than cold and calculating though, given that even Monokuma couldn't have predicted anyone would murder so quickly
I don’t think it was that, I think she really just cracked when she saw her group members like that. Plus she didn’t know the rules about the class trial, all she knew was if she killed she could escape. She didn’t know the others would die if they guessed wrong
I don't quite agree with your interpretation. I think Sayaka is a genuinely sweet and compassionate person. But the situation she was put in caused her to break mentally and become desperate to escape. She was simply a realistic character, and I really liked her. I felt sad that she left so quickly, because I could relate to her feelings and her motive.
Even after everything that happened in chapter 1, I could never bring myself to hate Sayaka. The interactions between her and Makoto were so sweet and adorable and she was so unfailingly nice to him. Also her design is just really cute. However, 12:14 hurt me more than it needed to, good god.

I think the crane story (around 6:00) references a very popular Japanese tale. In this tale, a man saves a crane who had been hurt by hunters. One night, a beautiful woman comes at his door and claims to be his wife. She helps him become wealthy by creating stunning and silky pieces of clothing and he would sell them on the market every week. However, the woman always warns him not to interrupt her in her room while she is sewing clothes, and makes him promise not to come inside until she is finished. But one day curiosity takes over the man and he peeks into the room while she is working. He sees a crane tearing away its feathers, and realizes the woman is actually the crane he saved earlier. The bird catches him, her true identity revealed, and she flies away to never come back. In the context of Makoto and Sayaka's relationship, that makes it both sweeter and more sad.
Everytime I listen to any pop music, my heart cracks even more... This hurts, really hurts. She obviously had feelings for Makoto who shot himself down as a nobody, but Sakaya didn’t see him that way, and her being a popular person, wants to take the hand of a “nobody” and carry them into a world of hope. Maizono, you were an amazing character, and just like Chiaki... **Your death will never be in vain. Rest in peace...**
@@miami2881 Sorry, but if you believe she was manipulating him, and didn't truly care about him. That brings up two issues. 1. Her dying message. Remember Kyoko's words attesting to that? "She probably was thinking of you in her dying moments and wrote that message to protect you." And 2. It's obvious she was interested in him before the killing game even begun. One of her freetime events proves this. She states she witnessed Makoto rescue a helpless crane that was trapped in a pond. And ever since she was very perceptive of his presence and awaited a proper opportunity to speak to him, but no such luck. Even before Monakuma even explains what's about to happen, she is still kind and caring towards him. So, your basis of manipulation certainly doesn't stick. And yes, you could counter argue that her manipulation is when she convinced Makoto to swap rooms by lying to him. But remember she only did this because she thought she would just kill, pin the crime on Makoto to keep her image clean, and waltz on out, because Monakuma being the dickhead he is didn't mention the class trial rule. So, are you still convinced that she manipulated him for no reason other than to make her personal interest be framed for a murder she could've committed, or... Do you now understand that what she did was out of sheer panic, stress, and fear? I'd say anyone would murder one individual to save their loved ones. 1 life for multiple is a big change. Besides, the world has ended in the game anyway, so really. It wouldn't make a difference.
can you put the “chiaki” out of the comment please. sayaka was the first to die so beginners that watch this know she die but don’t know anyone else dies. Chiaki is the last ones to die next game so it’s a big spoiler for a guys death when people get to it.

She thought of this plan from the beginning as soon as she cried on him after the motives. when she “snapped” I’d say. She tried to get as close to him so she can switch rooms and betray him. why would she do that? because makoto is the perfect prey. no self defense, very open with his feelings, and fall in love easily if a girl is kind to him. She took advantage of that. @@adamyusuf1805 She did it to save the others, at the time she didn't know it would kill everyone. She wanted to get out and free everyone else, she went through trauma in there. Everything she had worked for had just disappeared. And respect others opinions..
I remember when Sayaka was my first Danganronpa waifu... _until that time.._ Either way, I still like her, even if she tried to kill Leon and framed Makoto for it, it wasn’t her fault that she acted like that tho.
Although it was a messed up plan Sayaka even said it herself that her feelings were not fake at all she really did like Makoto and now thinking back on when she wrote her dying message about Leon she was probably thinking in her mind that Makoto deserve better. Sayaka you may have took the L but you definitely cared

She even has an official song (monochrome answer) where her VA confirmed she really liked Naegi, there's also school mode, Ultimate development plan and danganronpa IF, in all of them, you can see Maizono really liked Naegi, and with that, it's obvious she tried to kill to save her childhood friends, she's not evil, never has been.

Ever since Chapter 1, I was never really interested in Sayaka and the game forced me to spend time with her when I didn’t want to, which made me dislike her. She also didn’t stick out to me very much and was bland imo. However, during the class trial, when I heard about her betrayal, it made me dislike her a little less and helped add more to her character. I still dislike her, but she gets way too much hate, especially when she had valid reasons for doing what she did, even though it doesn’t justify them.
Neither her nor Leon were the Bad guy, the one to Blame is Junko for putting them in this situation to psychologically abuse and pressure them into killing eachother.

Who said she was faking it? Given that she was an emotional mess at the time and had plenty of reasons to be worried sick, I wouldn't say she faked being pale. She probably faked her REASONS for being pale, but not the paleness itself.
@@nuraortoma1820 In their defense, I'd also check out the FTE of a character I hated just to give them a fair chance/see if I'd change my mind. I used to hate her TBH, but I realized she's an okay character and what I really hated was her VA.
Underrated character. I wish she had more screen time... I know what happened was important to make the first ''BOOM'' of the game, but I still can't stop thinking about it, I wish it was someone else.

I love Sayaka. A character who is SO MISUNDERSTOOD and got unfairly killed off. I wish she was a survivor of the 1st game.
I can't help but feel skeptical of Sayaka. Her words, her actions, I can't help but feel that there is something more behind her intentions. She's grateful that we're here, but what exactly is she grateful for? There was no kind of interaction between them, Makoto was aware that Sayaka was at school, but never showed any real interest in talking to her. He didn't even turn to look at her, but Sayaka did notice him because of the duck, it wasn't an act of kindness, Makoto was obliged, he was the one in charge of taking care of the animals after all. And that's why I can't help but think that every word that came out of Sayaka's mouth was perfectly planned with a purpose. Makoto even sounded like a cult follower in their last interaction, he didn't sound like a friend, he sounded like a servant, a follower. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Sayaka is a bad person directly, but I'm not saying she's a good person either. It's just that those conversations felt kind of empty, almost fake. but hey, that's just my opinion

@@PsychoRecords147 no, actually, they both had their memories before they met in the academy, they both had feelings for each other since middle school, they only lost their memories inside the academy, but sayaka's feelings for Makoto were even totally honest before that, that's the point of the canon love song, to tell everyone she wasn't a snake, just a scared teenager who wanted to save her friends and family from the claws of monokuma.

They even stated in their conversations and introductions that they didnt even looked at each other, Makoto was only interesting to Sayaka because she saw him help a duck when it was his obligation to do it. Anyways, exactly, they didn't talk to each other in middle school, but they did like each other since then, Makoto and Komaru are confirmed sayakers (which means even when they did not talk to each other there, Makoto already liked sayaka so much) and sayaka, fell in love with Makoto since she saw him saving the crane that got lost, this is proving the point even more because sayaka talked to Makoto even before the killing game annoucement, meaning she really wanted to get to know Makoto better because she truly liked him since long time ago.
Here's what I think Sayaka only did what she planned because she loved Makoto so much that she took herself out this way so he could live on. Going back to the video she watched her dreams were shattered and idol friends were killed but Makoto was her only hope she had left leaving her to make a very risky and heartbreaking decision which cost her life.
You know Sayaka is a bit of the Yandere type Ok well not an actual Yandere but she had the sadistic cunning of a Yandere And maybe if she had an actual crush on Naegi then maybe she could had killed for him and then she is a the Yandere type

I have to admit, I kinda fell for Sayaka when I first interacted with her, she looked and acted undeniably sweet. It’s too bad that the motive broke her internally, we never saw much of her.
Based off the information provided later on during the game it’s pretty safe to say that Sayaka was just playing Makoto this entire time. To get him to be loyal for her etc. she’s a pop sensation what reason does she have to be with Makoto.

But if she doesn't get out of here, she would probably couldn't even reunited with or visitng her friend's graves (presumed that Monokuma/Junko or Mukuro killed them).
