It's kinda tragic really. All of Toko's anger from her various traumas got so large that it actually created a separate identity. After all, G.J. has only ever killed boys that she's been attracted to. She basically has the mentality of "If I can't have them, then no one will."
That's how DID kinda works. Mot entirely but kinda. When someone experiences extreme continuous trauma from the ages of around 4 to 7, their personality cannot fully form so the personalities become their own identities as the brains way of trying to cope, understand or/and block out the trauma. If toko didn't have genocide jill, shen wouldnt be able to cope with her trauma
Actually, Genocide Jack's first victim was a boy Toko liked, but humiliated her by posting a poem she wrote for him on the school's bulletin board. I think the type is not only cute, but also snubbed Toko.
Minor spoiler below: Interesting, seeing her in the first game again, she says at 9:14 that she's going to get pretty someday and prove everyone wrong, but in ultra despair girls, Toko actually talks about being proud about being ugly and that she hates girls who try hard to be pretty. Character development? I mean, I don't think she's ugly at all, but I'm glad she accepted herself.
@@kawosdhdos I said in my previous comment that I don't think that. I just think it's neat that she has learned to accept herself as she is. She shouldn't feel like she has to change herself to please other people.
Imagine slapping Mikan and Toko in the same room. *"I-Is it because you think I'm ugly?!"* *"No!! I-I-I-I'm sorry"* *"D-Don't even bother lying to me, y-you're staring at me like I'm some filthy creature"* *"Please forgive me!!!"*
When you think about it, Genocide Jill is actually hella smart. The things she says during free time events, are actually pretty deep (but not all, she still says alot of nonsense).
Yes. When she said that the human brain is his split personality itself and that's why we think about murdering or cruel things I thought she was talking about how everyone has a dark side.
She basically says “I am what happens when the intrusive thoughts are a person. In fact, they’re not intrusive at all! The real intrusion are these damn laws dampening our natural animalistic instincts! If you only take one side of a seesaw, it’ll flip in that direction! Same with this curated image of the idealised civilian! We’ve tamed it to a sinfully excessive point! Release your instincts! Be free! Murder! Act out whatever cinematic filth you can get a hold of! This world is too bland as it is without it! Or is that too much for domesticated house cats such as yourself?!” I apologise, I got way too much into writing this.
A quick reminder that it's heavily implied by the creators that she doesn't shower because she's irrationally afraid of it due to psychological trauma most likely caused by her moms 🙃
@@rereluvs420 thank you!! everyone always makes fun of her for not showering, but it's hard for her (also I heard that genocide jill cuts toko's body so she has scars everywhere and she doesnt shower because it hurts)
Lmao. If that poem is her usual style of poetry then she should really consider being the songwriter for some goth or metal band. She’d be rolling in the dough and the fans!
@@667nine it sort of is and it sort of isn’t. Like I was kind of joking about her writing style, but there is a part of me that wishes Toko could use her talents to connect to other people. But she always just pushes them away because she’s afraid of getting hurt. I know she’s difficult but I honestly just want her to be happy. And you know...not kill people.
I might be misunderstanding, but I'm thinking of Persona 4 shadows. Which also makes me think of how cool it would be if we had a crossover for the Danganronpa and well known Persona games. Example: Persona 3 = Trigger Happy Havoc Persona 4 = Goodbye Despair Persona 5 = V3
I don't care what anyone says Toko's one of the best characters in the DR series. Maybe not in DR1 alone, but combined in the other titles and media, her character development solidified her as one of my fav's...plus, as a hopeless romantic myself, I have sort of a thing for shy girls in glasses. :)
Honestly maybe right up there with mikan I think toko has the most traumatic and sad backstory it’s hard to pick between her and mikan because there both effected badly by there trauma but just because you get to know all the stuff that happened to toko and that she had to create a whole new person to cope with what she was going threw
@@bucketsareunderrated7258 how did you edit the comment but not see your spelling mistake 💀💀 your grammar is almost as terrible as your addition to this conversation
nobody talks about her. she was a male antag everyone would talk about her but everyone just... ignores her? she's more than just "shy girl with DID". i wish we talked about her as much as nagito. even ibuki? she needs more attention
Most characters from HTH go unnoticed, it lacks compared to GD. In GD you actually form bonds with other characters outside of free time events, HTHs cast are a bit of a dick, somehow everyone just comes off as mean.
@@victorsardaneta8727 people ignore a lot of great characters from hth and people always place mikan as the one with the worst backstory sure she has a bad backstory but honestly tokos was worse and she said herself exactly her backstory
I just love how shy Toko is, mostly cuz of how relatable it is, I was beginning to like her until they revealed Genocide Jack... Jack is a big no, but Toko is a y e s EDIT: nah, I love both now
True, but people are goona love people with negative traits anyway. Toko is an example of that with her social issues, and Byakuya with his attitude. I think those kind of traits really make the characters interesting.
@@soup2215 Oh, of course, I completely understand that! It's just the constant glorifying of shyness and asocial tendencies nowadays grinds my gears. Things like that prevent people from getting help because they think it's just a trait when their lives could be improved so much more.
Like, Toko could easily monopolize both crime and romance fiction by just telling G-Jack to write down notes whenever they switch for every K/D/A update. As just a random comment, i'd totally take advantage of it to come out with ideas (moar shitpost than anything else, but still stonks)
Dangaronpa sure it's magic, to think i'll rather spend the time a genocide rather than a writter. But gosh, who wouldn't love "i'm feeling like woah" that's quite the mood
So as odd as it sounds i think jack only kills in response to toko feeling hurt or betray. Think about it jack never hurt anyone in the school even when she has more than enough alone time do do so
