Good point on how violent the next conflict will be if shit pops off. I’m in now (Regular Army) and guys are always saying they are hoping a war goes down so they can deploy but it’s definitely a double edged sword of being careful what you wish for.
@SchrodingersSadboi

yeah I think it's important to go in looking for training more than combat

I don’t think the next conflict would get any more “dangerous” for combat roles .. combat is combat already. It would get more violent for civilians

Not a subject matter expert, but just gonna put in my $.02: Graduated from AIT at Ft Gordon for Signal and about to head to Airborne and then get a RASP volunteer packet at Benning. We have 2 Rangers here that host a RASP PT for people wanting to volunteer for an Op40 and for those with it contracted. They are both 25 series, and say that Regiment is hurting bad for signal, so it's a little bit easier to get an Op40 as a 25 series, and are trying to push HARD to get more signaleers to head to Pre-RASP. They also mention that due to how few people coming from Fort Gordon to RASP graduate and go to Regiment, a large portion of 25 series in Regiment are 11bs,13Fs, etc. who couldn't keep their MOS standards on the line and had to reclass.
@kfreedom470
@kfreedom470 Год назад
What's signal, does that field have to do with IT Networks
@zachthedangerranger
@zachthedangerranger Год назад
Yeah Regiment always needs legitimate 25 series.
@darkm4tter792
@darkm4tter792 Год назад
@@kfreedom470 Signal refers to anything 25 series. 25N that deal with nodal network comms, 25U that deals with maintaining and operating radios, 25B that are help desk IT, etc. 25 series often cross-train into eachother, since most of the big army sees any signal guy and thinks they know how to solve anything tech related, so it's a necessary cross-train.

Advice I've heard is if you have to ask then it's not worth it, if it's for you it doesn't matter what other people think.

Do one enlistment in a career field that’s in demand as a civilian ie. cybersecurity. Get your benefits and get out. Use the military to better your life. That’s my opinion on the matter

What about going in as 11x with an option 4 airborne? This guarantees airborne school and is a paratrooper assignment. I hear at airborne school they hand out op 40 a lot. This is my plan as I’m trying to go in as airborne Atleast to get a better chance at ranger regiment if they aren’t handing out option 40
@zachthedangerranger
@zachthedangerranger Год назад
Still a gamble. If you're fine with going to a regular airborne unit, then that's fine. But if your goal is regiment, screw an option 4.

Don't you think the Military has an effect on global freedom though? There's no need to defend the United States territorially, that I agree with. But the Navy upholding freedom of the seas(which made the world as affluent as it's ever been for the most amount of people). Contributions to Nato (the reason the Baltics won't ever be next for the Russians). Troop Presence in South Korea( I lived in Seoul for 5 years, the South Korean story is pretty incredible, and would have been impossible without US Military involvement). Those are just a few examples. I hear what you're saying but I think it's a bit extreme to say that service doesn't matter in terms of maintaining freedom. Our forces are a deterrent if nothing else, which matters. Would love to hear your thoughts on this in another video!

Unfortunately SF history isn't hammered into the skulls of students in our training. I really wish it was. I only know it because I learned the history of the Regiment "pre-me" back to the OSS because I thought it was important. As far as joining the military now, I would advise someone considering enlisting in a job I used to make fun of in order to have the flexibility to get some experience then get out and get a job, and not necessarily in the army for all the reasons you mentioned. That said, SOF is the place to be if you are built for it and plan on staying for a LONG time. The problem is knowing what your future is going to look like or even what you want it to look like is a hard/impossible call to make when you are still a teenager. Looking back now, if I hadn't made it in what I was trying to do, I probably would have tried to get into the air force and re-started in something easy.
@zachthedangerranger
@zachthedangerranger Год назад
It's a solid foundation, I would also implement weight training 2-3 times a week as well, focusing on compound movements and explosiveness.

I would say hard no right now. Other branches (we’ll exclude the marine corps here) have far better quality of life. Plus plenty of opportunities, more so than the army in my opinion.

I have a question. I’m currently trying to enlist in the Army as an 11B but I’m also considering doing an option 40 contract, how long after OSUT would it be before you get sent out for ranger school?
@zachthedangerranger
@zachthedangerranger Год назад
You have to pass RASP and make it to your battalion to get a Ranger School slot. You attend RASP after OSUT

@SoCrisp007 I'm literally doing the same thing. Getting a degree, putting on mass, and reenlisting. I really had a tough time deciding whether to go to RASP or SFAS but after considering everything carefully and critically thinking about it... ultimately I decided RASP was the way to go. But I don't have any specific aversion to SFAS. I just don't dig the year long pipeline. I'd honestly rather put up with the bullshit in Regiment for a while, try and get tabbed, and stay there as long as I can. Say what you will about it.... the 8 week pipeline is pretty sick if you just wanna get after it asap.

The Army has gone down the shitter... I'm in the SFAS prep course at ft bragg(soon to be re named 🙄) Even here it's gay as fuck and I'm having a very hard time staying motivated man.. I've wanted to do this my whole life but I feel like I was born too late and missed out. My biggest motivation is to NOT be in a regular line unit. Fuck that!! My hope is that life in SF is better

Dude, Give me the no bullshit truth on these women graduating Ranger school. I know when I was in no woman would graduate without lowering standards!!!! Also are women serving in the regiment as a 11b???? Note: I did not serve in regiment.. A 1/502nd Inf 101st.. Also, your opinion on leadership today in the Army. The officers and senior enlisted that stand up and support their guys are getting axed. I have heard this from many others... so sad politics is infecting our military..... My opinion on joining to defend freedom. You are always defending freedom when serving. May not be at war now but anytime we could come under attack again. Remember terrorist are training and planning everydsy to kill us. Also China will make a move militarily at some point in next 20yrs. I can only hope we have good freedom loving Americans serving.....Its alway admirable to serve this great country!!!!
