This one shows a 2 story house with a LONG 1st floor dryer vent!!! Zero maintenance in a decade! Absolutely terrible!
Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE and let me know where you're watching! I'm trying to grow this channel and shed a light on something that's often forgotten and extremely dangerous!
Please check out my website for my Quick Connect Periscope! It's the PERFECT product that replaces the flex hose connection and GETS THE MACHINE CLOSER TO THE WALL! Safer than ANY flex hose behind your dryer! No more fooling with connecting the dryer to the duct! No more lint leakage forcing you to dust constantly!

PLEASE LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE FOLKS!!! I'm trying to grow the channel however I'd much rather spread the word on the dangers of your dryer vent AND SAVE A LIFE!!! You subscribing helps get this message to more and more people!
Cleaning your dryer vent should be on your "to do" list regardless of if you own or rent your home! ESPECIALLY if your vent is run in a tight crawl space.

13:55 Hope you took out all those bends. I would put flex through hole in wall and hooked flex to strait pipe

Sure did but in my other videos regarding duct replacement, the audience retention is terrible therefore that's telling me folks aren't interested in that part as much.... If the masses tell me differently, I'll absolutely make sure to include that in my videos. Thx man!

You can ring the lint out, it’s so wet!! How did this not start a fire??

Luckly, the vent was 100% clogged and trapped the moisture in.. When you dry a load, you push 1-1.5 gallons of water through the vent via steam... We know that steam turns back to liquid when it gets further away from the heating source. In this situation, the lint wouldn't have ignited because it was soaking wet... Had their been even a small amount of airflow, the moisture would've escaped. Had the lint been dry, they would've been in some trouble. Thanks for watching!!!!

35 foot is max length allowed for 4" duct by the IRC which most states incorporate. Each 90 counts as 5 feet. Most dryer oems recommend 15 foot max. That mess at the end of straight pipe looks like it would count as 20 foot by its self.

Even still... did you hear the massive airflow coming out after he cleaned it?

Imposible length to use the brush and that tight u bend will be solid filled ,can you reach it from inside?or do you recomend a sweeping bend replacement to the duct, machine will be full of fluff too.
@advsLLC
@advsLLC 3 месяца назад
On this one, I had to run the brush from both sides. They can be tricky for sure!

How do you know when you've hit the far end of the pipe? Do you do any mechanical maintenance of dryers, or just duct work?
@advsLLC
@advsLLC 3 месяца назад
Typically, you'll know you've reached the end if you can't push the brush any farther OR easiest way is to listen. The brush makes a different sound when it hits galvanized steel vs aluminum or when it hits the flex behind the dryer.

A dryer vent this long would need a booster fan, but that would introduce other problems like having to disassemble the booster fan often to clean it. Another option would be to install an in-line filter trap behind the dryer that could be easily cleaned.

Possibly however I'm a believer that anything other than a clear, 4" duct system will only cause more issues vs simply staying on top of the required maintenance... IDK though, I've definitely been wrong before, lol!

Hey, I love your videos and have watched almost all of them. I am curious about a few things and was wondering if you'll answer them. How do you decide when to clean from the inside or the outside? How do you determine when a dryer duct is safe for it to be cleaned out, e.g. do you consider if the pipe will fall apart because it is loosely connected to the wall and do you worry that you may puncture a hole in the vent while cleaning the ones that are not fully metal? Also, do you use any inspection camera to view the vent, if you do what are some types that you recommend? Thank you!

Great questions Justin! OK... Typically, I only clean from the exterior unless the vent is longer than my brush cable OR I'm not getting good enough airflow after running the brush from outside. On the next question, as long as I see metal duct work, I'll run my brush through the system... If there's ANY flex in the duct system, it has to be replaced with new, 4", ridged ductwork! My brush will absolutely destroy any flex it encounters! As for the duct collapsing, if it does, so be it.... I'll have to repair. If it winds up being something simple, no big deal however any repair costs would be the homeowner's responsibility.... It's unfortunate however I personally can't be "on the hook" for a poorly installed duct. If originally installed correctly, my brush won't blow the duct apart or make it separate from other pieces. Lastly, I don't own a camera system and don't think I will anytime soon... When you run a 4" brush through a 4" duct, from start to finish, I KNOW the duct is clean therefore I've never needed one. And say the duct is broken somewhere in the wall or ceiling that isn't visible, I'd have to cut a hole in drywall to repair so typically, the camera is just something flashy that would allow you to charge more for the cleaning/repair... I hope this makes sense however if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate my friend!

I know you're an expert...but when he said how often should they have that done and you said 2 years max...My jaw kinda dropped because my vent run through the roof isn't nearly as long as this one... and I would clean that sht and the dryer would dry clothes SO FAST....and I felt like not even 4 months could go by until I started noticing it took longer..... Like what would take 40 now takes 50.... then a few months later what took 50 might take an hour... so in my case... I felt like I was having to do it every six months...

Some are like that... It also has to do with the number of people living in the home as well as their ages.
