Today I encounter some dangerous canyons and some wet, and cold, weather on the last day of the Mae Hong Son Thailand Motorbike Tour. We start the day with some bad news for my 2 month old Honda ADV 160. Followed by a recap of the lovely city of Pai. Then I take you to Pai canyon. This place was definitely one of the most dangerous tourist attractions I have been to in Thailand. After that, we visit a memorial WWII bridge for some cool history. Honestly, I was looking forward to what is supposed to be some of the best roads in Thailand on the last day of the Northern Thailand motorbike tour. It was a cold let down. Great motorbike trip, your trips always show heaps of different places the others don’t. If that happened to my bike at home I would of been not happy but you Serg have really adapted to what I call Thai time , when in Thailand just go with the flow .🙂

It’s not as bad as the camera makes it look, but definitely have to have experience on a motorbike to go through there, walking is easy

Iv done the loop in both directions on a CRF 300L. Enjoyed it very much. Also motorcycled across Laos. If you're going to motorcycle Laos, an on / off road bike works best. Thailand has excellent roads when you compare to Laos. Laos, pothole capital of the world in my opinion. But I would do it again.

reminds me on my own 1and a half mhsloop trips. first time halfway i got sick and the wheather forecast was heavy rains for 4 days so i didn,t finish the whole loop. second time i rode from burriram and it was all great. i learnt first time not only take shorts and t-shirts ... it was very cold in december high up in the mountains ....want to do it again.

If you want to escape the crowded tourists and busy traffic,go to the eastern side of the northern region, (Chiang Rai - Phayao - Nan). There will be fewer tourists. The roads are low traffic than Chianmai & Mae Hong Son, the views are very beautiful.

Nice video Serg! Pai looked a bit too much tourist trappy to me, the rest of the area was beautiful though. I wouldn't have ventured out any further on that canyon, I'm kind of a klutz and that place looked kind of dangerous 🤣

Honestly, it didn’t feel very touristy at all. It had a very relaxed vibe. I know it’s a touristy area, but for some reason it felt very comfortable.

Glad to hear that Serg you have achieved a milestone 👏 in riding a bike from Bangkok to ChiangMai in 10 days...the hilly walkways are too dangerous for the fainted heart but with some encouragement, it can be done, little scratches on your bike 🏍 shouldn't worry you too much since it doesn't affect safety features...the trip advisory will help many of us somehow...budgeting should be a priority, hotel reservations are not, since this is the low season for tourism...a good guidance by Serg, no doubt about it..thanks Serg for the adventures that bring us to places we might not even have time to visit...cheerio 🎉😂

It's so sad the motorcycle was damaged. On many occasions, I return to my (big) motorcycle to find some idiot who blacked me in AND locked their scooter. It's even happened while I was inside a 7-11!! Everyone in Thailand needs to learn the kickstand spin trick.

You should visit Doi Angkhang and surrounding mountains. There is a highest camping ground in Thailand 1,900 m above sea level at Doi Pha Hom Pok.

I think the helmet was about ฿2400. I would not recommend it for a couple of reasons. The buckle hardware is not stainless, and it is rusting really badly. Also, there’s quite a bit of wind noise, and when the face shield disclosed, even though it has ventilation vents, it doesn’t get airflow inside of it. I will be replacing it soon.

If you have a chance to ride a motorcycle Travel to the North again I want you to try and study the Nan Loop route. Many foreigners still don't know this route.

Yeah man, when I saw it, I didn’t get upset at all. I was more surprised than anything. It ended up costing me a total of $33 for the side panel, the little name tag and the labor! Lol.

Could have added, people need either an international or Thai drivers license. There are too many foreigners that rent a bike without it. Consequences without could be ,....a whole lot a bad. *If things go sideways, and they tend to do in Thailand.

Most tourists will not bother getting an international drivers license. You don’t even need one to rent a bike. HOWEVER, as you just mentioned, it is strongly recommended.

Gas was very cheap. I probably spend 1500 baht. Hotels were 500-1600 baht per night.

Yah it was narrower than it looks. Lol. No regrets about buying the ADV 160. I think sometime next year I will buy a CB500X or a Transalp.

why don’t you attach tail luggage to your motorbike to keep more cloth, helmet or door/water.

@@LifewithSerg A top case would also mess up drivability. I have been doing research in 2 38liter sidecases. Because of you i fell in love with the ADV350. I know why you chose the 160 (homebase in busy BKK). I will be based in Khon Kaen couple years from now. So 350 will suit me better. Those sidecases seem really cool. Could also be something for your upgrade in the future (transalp/africa twin)

Hope you get a copy of motorbike register and 3rd party protection insurance and with you because Thai police will start checking the paper from 28/11/2023 onwards.
