Anybody who subscribes to the ideology of “healthy at every size” or supports the fat acceptance movement should be mocked and jeered everywhere they go. You know most of those people would push a button that made them a healthy normal weight if they could. Same with all the fat influencers on toktik or whatever it is. Deep down, they are not happy. Also some of the patients are not eating just when hungry they eat even when not hungry so that wouldn’t really help! It’s like an Iv drug user it’s not only the actual drug, it’s the high they get even when just putting a needle in their arm so it’s not always the food alone, it’s the act of the motions! I have seen that a lot of people do not understand what she have meant by "taking a break" She meant it by emotionally. Food addiction usually starts when there are overwhelming amount of negative emotions in a person's life that are constantly around. They are either very sad or very angry all the time or the mix of both. This is what most commonly trauma does. So to basically save themselves from breaking down mentally they try to distract themselves with something. She was in stress and in pain and the only way she can release that(she was not thought of anything else, not shown a good example or guided) is that she eats. This is what she meant by "taking a break". Taking a break mentally from the suffering. She is distracting herself. But the bad thing is that she is doing it in a way that not just not helps but slowly kills her.

These problems often do come with emotional baggage that lead to a long string of bad health-altering choices and believe me when I tell you it's a lifelong fight to get better and stay better. With all their excuses of why they got like this. I look at the enablers that are giving them this all this bad food and not encouraging them to eat better! If this is such a serious condition for these people, it should be against the law to encourage them. Because it's helping them kill themselves slowly. If food was an addictive substance, all humans would be badly addicted because it is a necessity we eat daily to survive. Which would instantly form addiction. This person just has a really bad habit of eating a lot, and she eats when she feels bad, but she is not suffering from an "addiction" and she won't have cold sweats, shakes, and withdrawals if she eats less food, nor will she go through anything a substance abusive person would go through. I had a perforated bowel and could not breath and the pain was excruciating. during my surgery there became another preforated bowel. When I was in the worse pain in my life, eating was furthest from my mind. I had to be attached to tube feeding because I was not yet able to swallow. The surgeries gastric bypass and dealing with achelasia and about a month or so after my surgeries, I was sent back to university of washington, there where I spent more time there and procedure after procedure, it was all very painful. I have been very sick with not much relief all was so much abdominal abdominal pain. If i had to go through either of those procedures again i would have begged God to end it all for me, just a depressed sadness well after the huge double surgeries I had gone from 200lbs down to 125lbs where I looked and felt like warmed over death. This total time since 2014 surgeries I have still been in just the same pain often worse than the original. I had reached to 125 and I am 5' 7" tall and Long legs. I feel angry with close family members of these extremely overweight people who give in so easily and supply them with any food they ask for! Always fried, fattening stuff….I say close family members, but I did see one person ordering huge takeaway orders that were delivered to their beds! It’s either comfort eating, or something in their brains telling they HAVE TO eat like this….it’s sad because at early stages when still mobile they could have had the motivation to walk more….now they are too large to even safely have surgery to remove some body mass or gastric band etc, as I’m sure the anaesthetist would refuse to give aesthetic in case they died during surgery . It will be extremely costly, but the option left is to keep them in medical care on the correct diet, and where they cannot access the fat Foods they always want…families will not be allowed to smuggle food in. It must be very frustrating for the medical people, who can get these patients to lose weight in their care, but know as soon as they leave they will head for McDonald’s etc. such a dilemma. But obviously this ladies heart won’t last the strain much longer…very sad.

Her family has to stop giving into her! Put the walker and wheelchair out of reach and give her only what she should be eating and drinking. The weight will fall off of her in no time. If they can't handle her nagging them .....they can walk outside or go for a drive and then she will be nagging and no one will hear her. She needs to develop self control. When she realizes her family won't give in to her then maybe that will help motivate her

Unless there is another way to check for blood clots in the legs that I don't know about it is done with ultrasound. I've been an ultrasound tech for 9 years and it is very difficult to do that exam on someone who is half her size. The soundwaves only go so far and the exam quality is very poor. Can't imagine how difficult to do an ultrasound on these patients is.

Please do not attack me. But this is also a nationality problem. We just do not have cases like this in Croatia. Just don’t. Fat people here weigh maximum of like 150-200 kg and that is really obese here. Please don’t think I am nationalistic I just want to tell you is something wrong in your food culture and system. This gave me goosebumps. I am shocked

I gained 30 kg from a psychiatric medication. I used to have anorexia nervosa and a LW of 29 kg. Let’s just say I’m short of 100 kg from that. I feel horrible being the size I am and am taking diet and exercise seriously. I can’t imagine how it feels to be 300 kg overweight, and trapped in one’s body. Damn.

I understand your perspective but you have to keep in mind that the root of this problem mostly is depression or another mental health disorder. They try to "fill the hole" they have with food, but it obviously can't be filled like that, so they just keep eating and eating..

I'm not even asking big as she is but overweight nonetheless. Food is a vice used for emotions. I never passed judgment because I could easily get to her size if I wasn't as active. I'm working on my emotional eating and eating foods better for me when I'm feeling stressed.

its really not. its not at all difficult to be a human being and have some empathy for people in a world of pain and suffering. people who are okay and mentally healthy don't get to 600lbs, its an illness.

I agree. It’s hard to feel bad for someone who is in this situation and takes no accountability for it. mental health and such probably plays a huge part but this didn’t happen overnight and it wouldn’t happen if they didn’t eat so much and even just went for a walk.

These people say they're ready to lose weight; then they eat, eat, eat. She's in a lot of pain but continues to eat fast food. It's hard to have any sympathy for her. She is only hurting herself. Why didn't she start worrying when she was 300, 400, 500, 600 pounds? 740 pounds is 5 times what she should weigh. She keeps saying she's ready to do it... but then does nothing. I know she's addicted to food, but only she can do the work... STOP EATING!!!
