Happy you connected with the song, Seb. I love your line that the things we want, want us to. But during the time I was originally connecting to this song, I believed I had found HER. The one I was meant for and the one who was meant for me. And I did what you recommended. I did not chase, pressure or pursue. We just hung out and had a great time. I wanted us to know one another as closely as we could before anyone ever even said the word “relationship” or even “boyfriend/girlfriend”. We were just together. And in that time, I fell desperately in love with her. This was at college, and after more than a year of this, and with graduation and separation coming into view, I knew I had to step up and lay my cards on the table and let her know what I was feeling. And that’s when I got the soft, but devastating version of “No”. And I was never the same after. She was my Fairy Tale, the Happy Ending that my crazy romantic heart had been searching for all my life. I didn’t think there would ever be words to describe this feeling…..and then I heard this song. I still can’t hear it without getting misty-eyed. I’m also very happy that your connection with the song brings you joyous memories of your journey with Ali! Even if my personal take is unspeakable sadness. Cheers, My Friend!
This is Natasha Bedingfield’s brother (Pocketful of Sunshine is one of her big hits). I had this song on repeat after a breakup with who I thought at the time (and still do sometimes) was the love of my life in the early 2000s.
Hi Seb . I enjoy your comments on the songs of my generation. A song that is so emotional especially if you are a Dad with girls is “ I loved Her First”, by Heartland . Grab your Kleenexes 😭
I'm pretty much an only country fan, especially 90s country mixed with a little bit of other genres. But there are 3 songs not country that I absolutely love. If you're not the one by Daniel Beddingfield Cry by Mandy Moore You're Beautiful by James Blunt. Yes I'm a romantic. If you haven't already, yon should react to the other two.
His sister is Natasha Bedingfield: l “Unwritten”, “Pocketful of Sunshine.” If I remember right, Daniel had some kind of accident or something. His other popular song was “Gotta Get Through This.”
