I read once that Jemima was actual James Boone`s daughter. Daniel went on a almost two year hunting trip. Upon his return there was newborn Jemima. Everyone thought Daniel was dead so his brother took in Rebecca and the kids. James and Rebecca conceived Jemima thinking Daniel was dead and gone forever. Knowing this makes me admire Daniel more because he risked his life to rescue Jemima.
Yes and the first thing that I thought about was that I’m sure they had had a conversation about doing that to be prepared. Can you imagine living like that?
Wonderful video. Love love history. Never get tired of American history! What a great country we have a privilege to live in. Thank God for our founding fathers, we can live free.
After Daniel was captured by the Shawnee it took some time before he escaped. His wife left to live with family. Jemima would not leave and never lost hope that her father would return. When he made his run to warn them of an attack , the Crabtree brothers where there. When the Shawnee lured Daniel out of the fort for a talk one Crabtree brother was with him. I suspect it was Issac. One account said when they tried to grab Daniel that Crabtree was throwing indians in every direction. Issac was with James Boone when he killed. He killed a Cherokee later thinking he was one of the murders. This got bounty put on his head for about a year. During this time he was seen several times in the company of Boone at Martin's Station. The people that knew Issac told the governor that it would take thirty men to serve that warrant. This tells me they were best friends. After the siege the militia came and asked Daniel to show them where the Cherokee Towns were so they could burn them in retaliation. He would not, and I think this caused ill feeling after the war. Issac was a scout for the militia and knew where the towns were. I believe he showed them and that ended the friendship.
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy Yes, My 5x grandparents were James Poteet and Elizabeth Crabtree. Making my grandfather Thomas first cousin to Issac Crabtree. They all traveled from Kingston Maryland to Burnt Chimney Bedford Co. VA. together in 1750. They were the first white owners of property 1 mile east of Booker T Washington national monument. The driveway is Crabtree Lane. There is a cemetery there. William Crabtree had property north of Burnt Chimney on Maggadee Creek before moving to the Salt Lick that became Saltville. His wife is buried at Saltville, son Job at Allison Gap. Job was one of the thirty that helped Boone cut the trail through the gap.
@@francesrude3007 Thank you for the compliment. If I had not failed English Lit my first year of collage that might be possible. Did get me an invitation to take my physical for the draft.
I discovered about a month ago that I'm descended from George Boone, Daniel's grandfather. I also have another Boone connection by marriage on my mother's family. My maternal 4th great-granduncle Robert Judd of Greene County, Kentucky married Rachel Greer, granddaughter of Daniel's sister, Sarah (Boone) Wilcockson.
Do yall have any records of a Lou Ella Boone born 1873, she was my great great grandmother. Married to Joseph Christopher Maddux. Always wondered if i was related to Daniel Boone.
We don’t have any but there are two Descendants of Daniel Boone Facebook groups that are full of people that love to help folks find their Boone connections.
Flanders would be my first cousin about 8 times removed. His uncle, William, stayed in North Carolina and is my direct ancestor. Another uncle, Richard, had come to Kentucky along with Boone and others.
@@loriebradshaw1339 Yes. Richard Callaway was a compatriot of Daniel Boone. He was one of those who brought treason charges against Boone in 1778, who was acquitted.
I'm a Callaway that lives in northwest MO. ..... was told that Daniel Boone was my g g g g g grandfather but I could never get enough info. To prove it !!! Any help would be great ...
I believe they devoted an episode of "Daniel Boone", the TV show starring Fess Parker in the title role, to this event. Jemima was played by Veronica Cartwright, sister of Angela Cartwright.
Who was Rebecca Bryan Boone's mother? Everytime I look it up it shows two different people. Either Hester Hampton Bryan or Alica Linville Bryan. Which one is it?
I was named after my father, who was named for his two grandfathers in a hopeless attempt at ending the Civil War in the family. James Calloway Ware (Confederate), and Wesley Harbeson (Union) made a point of never speaking to each other after my grandparent's wedding - but I digress... James Calloway Ware was born in Missouri. His father was a native of Madison County, KY, near Fort Boonesborough, where my family members had lived since the late 1770s... As my Ware family migrated from east to west, they either traveled with, or eventually settled near members of the Madison County, Callaway/Calloway family. In 1852, two of my 3rd great uncle's families even traveled the Oregon Trail with part of the Callaway family... Other than they were friends, there's little evidence that they were related to my direct ancestors. Trying to find a connection is a road I've gone down for years.
I'm sorry my comment was long and hard to follow. My name is James Ware. It might have made more sense if I had identified myself at the start... I'm pretty sure the Calloway/Callaway family of Kentucky in Daniel Boone's time were all related.
I’m sure that there were many things that I “failed” to mention relating to the story. Hard to say everything about everything in a short video. Interesting choice of words.
My adopted brother was david boone who died a coupla years ago,in the land of fruits and nuts( california)! On the wall of his mother's house, hung a old I guess flintlock! He said it was a family sirloin! He told me he was a decendant of danial boones brother..and that it was his gun?
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy Go to the video and watch ⌚ Prominent Americans you assumed were WHITE with an OPEN 👐 mind, Daniel Boone's name 📛 was brought up, you'll be SHOCKED and Surprised 😯 it'll bring TRUTH! I'm passing this important information ℹ️ to everyone! People NEED to know the TRUTH!
Um I'm tripping out here... I married into the Callaway family, directly related to Richard Callaway, but the WEIREST part is that my maiden name was Holder. I had no idea of this history prior... Reincarnation maybe? 🤔 Or just a REALLY strange coincidence?
Yep they knew the rescue party was coming, probably told them Daniel Boone is coming and the Indigenous probably said yeah right, boy were the girls, so right. History doth repeat itself, Daniel escaped at a young age and so did his daughter, 😉. Cool didn't know that part. Odd how him and Davey run such similar lives being distant cousins and all, the similarities are striking aren't they. So enjoy these stories they are awesome to hear told not just written down. Keep telling them please.
Darby Hinton who played Israel is alive and well in California. He and his wife recently became first time grandparents. I have met him three times and find him to be quite pleasant.
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy so the battle of blue licks happened 200 years ago? Sounds like Israel Boone was really old when he was on the TV show
I watched your stories on the Boone clan , it becomes more and more evident just how badly we treated the natives as nothing more then pests to be eradicated , it's no wonder they hold us in such low regards , rightfully so, we honor the encroachers and vilify those who were encroached against ..
Same story since the dawn of time. Humans will always clash, kill and defeat each other. Definitely doesn’t make it good or right but a different angle.
As Steinbeck said in America and the Americans, "this land was no gift, the indigenous fought to the best of their ability to keep it, it was fought for and died for." Nothing could stem the tide. All of history is about dirt, regardless of what anyone may believe, history shows territory belongs to they who are strong enough to take it and they keep it only so long as they are strong enough to maintain it. History 101, let that be a lesson.
How about checking out the Blanton family tree. We've been in the US before it was a country and were in every fight this country has ever had. We even fought each other during the Civil War. We have made whiskey, grew tobacco, raised all sorts of animals and children. We have also been in politics. GOOD LUCK
Last of Mohicans isn't the story it is from the Cascades and the Abinaki indigenous of St. Lawrence bay the Johanessen family the Mohican himself was a Johanessen his mother's family gifted the Church the people Ferguson burnt, they were Ferguson's own kinsmen, they were Johanessen blood, these are the New Amsterdam stories, before she was New York the five points families wrong side of my family tree, Boone descends from Potawhamae not Seneca like the last of the Mohican story starts way earlier than Boone's service. The church was built in 1300's if my jerk of my Kinsmen hadn't burnt it with our family in it, it would still be standing, but the PEI founder's museum has the sketch of it only thing left of it, they brought from NY.
