Genius! Trifonov never ceases to amaze us with his authentic kind of playing! Such control and finesse for such a challenging piece.

You see authentic, I see manic. He doesn't look like he's having fun. It's real, and it's great, no question, and maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, it just looks so different to most of the pianists I've seen. I'll have a look at how others compose themselves durig this piece.

Okay, he plays the first note after the trill after the beat by an 8th note (1-*-3-4) so technically a timing mistake, I listened to that way too many times and grabbed the score, the one I'm looking at doesn't include the trill he plays but starting at 0:16 is what it's supposed to sound like

Origins of music unevidenced. Except it is gift to humanity from God the Creator. Music continues in heaven. Discontinues in hell. Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth for one purpose only - to die on cross for remissions of pre-existing sins of every single person and to resurrect. Jesus Christ providing forgiveness from pre-existing sins for every single person, salvation from eternity in hell and free entry to eternity in heaven for all who repent of sins in Jesus Christ. Other side of death is eternity. Eternity in hell. Or eternity in heaven through Jesus Christ. Penalty of pre-existing sins already paid by Jesus Christ on The Cross. Accept HIM. Repent sins in Jesus Christ name. Be saved from eternal in hell. Enter heaven. Enjoy heavenly music. For free.

A very angry and contracted Bach. He should relax everything. This is almost a torture to watch. And it sounds as a struggle as well. Please listen to Sokolov ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jA2iZyqnTbI.html Or Gould. They allow for space and breathing. They know how not to force the tempo to the max of their abilities. It's not a race. Trifonov holds his breath and it doesn't work in the end. Not conducive. Children, don't do this at home.

I agree, although I think some of this impression is being influenced by being able to see the physical performance.
@andrea_zao
@andrea_zao 2 года назад
Indeed, playing all that counterpoint requires great skill and at that speed, you have to be very concentrated, that's why he has that posture. I agree that the music should be more relaxed and let it breathe
@ВладиславВендичев
Bach didn’t specify the tempo for any of the fugues in the Art of Fugue, nor did he specify the character. If it was Trifonov’s vision to have it sound more conflicted, that’s clearly an interpretation choice. It definitely makes a lot of sense if you listen it as a part of the album.
