Two great players deserving standing ovation and respect ...one defending the crown the other making a comeback ..All praise for both but especially all kudos to RI as she was recovering an injury spell ,was out of titles for long and for an athlete to regain self belief is only by winning. Because winning proves recognition. Today the hard work and determination has proved that when the world writes you off ,Start all over again...write a new chapter.

Finally coming on top again, Intanon.

I am Thai and I am so proud of her. At the end of the games, when she was sitting down and looking up, we believe she was thinking of our late beloved King Bhumibol who is now in the heaven. His funeral is due in 3 days. The way she bowed down with her two hands together on the floor is how we pay respect to the king in Thailand. The tears could both from joy and sadness. In Thai news, she was telling, she told the king, when she looked up "father I did it". We all here cried sweepingly when she did that.

Great match! Intanon's smashes have suddenly become sensationally powerful for a female player of her build, which is remarkable. Yamaguchi is well known for her stamina and dashing speed, but this time even she can't outrun the shuttlecocks from her opponent's relentless, one-after-another lightening shots ......

I was rooting for Yamaguchi, but wow both of these women are just amazing! This was the best badminton match i think ive ever seen. Those rallies and especially Yamaguchi's returns are beyond amazing. She's going to be a superstar despite her loss here. INCREDIBLE MATCH.

What a beautiful player. But it’s how she won this championship. In the absolute mist pressure she won 5 straight points to win. She has unbelievable disposition as she has often won coming from behind at end of a match. Her ability is awesome. One of the greatest champions in any sport. And all due respect to her opponent Yoshimoto who played like a champion as well.

A very well deserved win...unbelievable but true!

This was a big win from Intanon.. The fact that she played against TAi Tzu Ying the day before this match, and eventually wins is is a difficult thing.

Why does the host country have to overload the winners with so much stuff at the podium? They are already tired from a long match and now they have to hold all this stuff and carry it with them. They should provide a helper (one of the young ladies, dressed in traditional dresses) to hold and carry it for them.
