every country has its specialty. when I went to London the fish and chips were 👌, when I went to asisi Italy the gelato was 👌 and I ate at a country side Italian restaurant with homemade pasta dough and sauce and local red wine and that was just oh my god I want to come back in a year or two. beautiful place too.

Cinderbloom We have that over here in Denmark. Bacon liver paté. You should get pickled beets or anything pickled in general, and put on top of it on the bread. Make sure there's not room for more on top when you add it. You want a slice of the pickled goodness with every bite. Trust me. It makes the whole experience so much better.

You cannot visit Denmark without trying our "Stegt flæsk med persillesovs" (Fried pork with parsley sauce). That is, in my opinion, THE best Danish food you can get. Period. :-) In Copenhagen, there is a place called Hansens Familiehave (Hansen Family Garden) located at Pile Allé. They serve traditional Danish food (smørrebrød, pork dishes, fish/herring etc). Go there. You won't regret it.

Hear hear.. Stegt Flæsk med Persillesovs is a MUST have.. (and goat forbid if they make the sauce too thinly.. It should be the step before being served in slices.. thick as mud and heavy as a brick.. And looking at Wolter, no offence man but, you should really try the all you can eat, see how long you can last.. (remember a good beer or two to go along with it, my personal taste would say a Tuborg Classic, since i think it's heavier than a Carlsberg ("Hof", as we call it) or a Green Tuborg, but still crisp enough to go well with the salty flæsk, and parsley

Well.... I am going to make a large list for you. I have written the names in Danish for you, so it will be easy. First up, the supper dishes. - Frikadeller med kold kartoffelsalat. - Frikadeller med brun sovs og hvide kartofler. - Forloren skildpadde. - Forloren harre med brun sovs og hvide kartofler. - Tarteletter (høns i asparges). - Flæskesteg. - Gammeldags grydestegt oksebow med brun sovs og hvide kartofler. - Hakkebøf med brun sovs og hvide kartofler. - Hakkebøf bearnaise. - Boller i karry. - Svinehjerter i flødesovs. - Karbonader med stuvede grøntsager. - Millionbøf med kartoffelmos. - Stegt flæsk med persillesovs. - Blodpølse med sirup og kanelsukker. - Blodpølse med æblemos. - Æbleflæsk. - Stegte ål. - Smørstegt rødspætte. Next up, sweet stuff. - Brunsviger (just keep away from those with cinnamon, found in copenhagen) - Romkugler. - Cocio, chokalademælk. - Salt lakrids (strong licorice, be aware) - Pålægs chokolade. Hope this little list can be of some use for you.

One thing I learned to appreciate once, was smoked salmon and horseradish salad. It goes splendedly together. Another thing, is our "Frikadeller" -no n's in the word (I have English friends so I know it's tempting) to me, the frikadelle, goes perfectly well, to our REmoulade (matching a tatar sauce, according to the dictionary)

(Coming from a Danish-American that is very proud of his Danish heritage,) You are saying Smorrebrod right! There is a Danish drinking song that my family sing. Its called "Hanskeliva"! Also when Danes drink, they say "Skol!" It's Danish for "Cheers!"

Also, there is a cake that Danes make and eat for weddings, birthdays and special occasions (mainly for weddings). Its called a Kransekake! It's translated into "circle cake" its almond based and is layered like an American wedding cake but is much thinner and wider. It consists of 12 layers. For those Americans who would like to try Scandinavian food (mainly Danish), there are a few Nordic restaurants in New York, NY. One is called "Akavit", which is in Times Square by Rockefeller Center They make they're own Akavit and they flavor them too! Very tasty! Another one is called "Copenhagen". I haven't been to there yet, but I plan to go!

The thing that I loved in Denmark was their fries, (crisps of french fries, whatever), they make them at the train station in Copenhagen and it takes 15-20 minutes. They take fresh raw potatoes and fry them, first on low heat and them on high heat for the perfect french fry. 💗

"Rooomelaud" hehe.. But yes, after the first time I had a Danish remoulade IN DK (I think I'd had it at my grandma's house growing up, but wasn't quite the same), I realized that I'd been attempting clumsily to concoct a similar condiment for years (in a way that disgusted friends and bystanders alike)... The recipes I got from Danish sites really elevated my sauce-mush. :) It is the single most satisfying addition to roast beef, hot dogs, fish dishes, and all sorts of things.

You should make a point of trying "Æggekage" when you come to Denmark again, it translates as "eggcake" and it's a kind of scrambled Egg baked in a frying pan, served with smoked pork and garnished with chives and served with ryebread. There are local variations, and if you're in Jutland you should try eating lunch at "Hvidsten Kro" , they are famous for "Æggekage" with the recipe passed down at least 3 generations. That way you will get a good Danish dish and a dash of history added. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Arriving at a party and there will be a person serving a snaps just when you enter through the door. And later he'll just walk around with his shot glass (or horn) and bottle and ask if you'd like another... and another etc.

okay so i live in copenhagen and here is what to really eat, 1. if you want to get real good hotdogs go to nimb wich is right by tivoli, they make gourmet hotdogs and is definitely something you should try if you visit 2. if you can afford and can get a reservation, try to get in at noma 3. go to "torvehallerne" or "papirøen" aka copenhagen street food, wich both just are danish food mekkas where literally no matter what stand you go to, the food is great 4. try getting raw food, i know that it's not something you can only get in copenhagen but we're getting more and more raw bars and they're great, you should try either "raw 42", "palæo" or basically any raw bar at cph

Mate, next time you come visit us, go to Aarhus! Copenhagen is nice, but Aarhus is rather different. Not as tourist-minded. Also, you gotta try some Danish liquorice!

Try an oldfashion bøfsandwich (beef is minced) and brown sauce on top. Make sure that the beef, bread and sauce are homemade! At least the beef and sauce! You can usually get them, where you buy the hotdog. This can’t be eaten without a knife and fork! If you are on a restaurant, try flæskesteg (owenroasted pork) with everything. Which include at least two kinds of potato, something sour like “asie” (a sort of pumpkin) or cucumber and rødkålsalat (salad with red cabbage). Especially the sauce is great. Everything have to be homemade!

+Marhoru ... Nope romkugle and trøffel is NOT the same... Not in Jylland either... Romkugle has rum og rumflavour added, whereas trøffel does not.... You should go for the trøffel... and also - buy it at the bakery - not in the super market!

You should for sure try romkugler! Not many none Danes like them but if you do they are really good! You should also try arme riddere, though you probably can't buy them in stores... It's white bread dipped in eggs and fried on a pan and afterwards you can come cinnamon sugar or marmalade/jam on them. Soooooo good!

Mark is 100% correct on the Danishes. I grew up in the USA eating American "Danish" pastries all my life. In 1997 I started working for a Danish company and started traveling there. Once I had a true "Danish" pastry in Denmark, it was game over for the American version. I never get them here in the States anymore. Never.

Pork belly with parsley sauce and potatoes, Danish meat balls with either potatoes and brown sauce or potatoe salat, Pork roast with crispy skin either as a sandwich or as a dish with potatoes and brown sauce. Just to name a few.

Besides all the healthy stuff that's everywhere, I loved the burgers and fries. You'd think it's too American to have while on vacation, but they were so good! I was taken to Halifax. But, when I was there, I had mashed potatoes with my burger. Fresh herbed butter and cream. Otherwise, Scandinavian fries are the best! I hate salt, but the natural sea salt actually tastes good.

If you want more than just a lager beer, then try "Amager Bryghus". Their "Tulsa Twister" IPA, seven sins beers and in general most of their beer is really great. There is also Hancock's "Gambrinus beer". In fact, there are a lot of beers! Oh boy.

Dutchified yeah, very expensive. I have the expensiveness part in our 5 love and hates videos and 10 shocks of Denmark. I would have eaten a lot better if I had more money, they have some really great restaurants in Denmark but seriously pricey. how goes the travel channel? I have watched a few come up. I am trying to think of a few ideas where we could collaborate together on something to help out each others channels.

If you are looking for good, danish pastries you should defiently visit The Old City in Århus (Aros)! Well, not only for the pastries but... I am proud to say that I have been working in the bakery that provided ther bakery shop(?) and even as being Danish many think that it is by far the best place to go for pastries and bread. Besides Århus (Aros) have alot to offer in terms of cultural and historic events and things to see!

Wolter! Why are all your Visit Norway videos private? Your videos are great and as a Norwegian it is fun to watch a video about your own country. Unlike other travelers who post about their experiences, you make an in depth "review" of a country, and as said i would love to watch one about Norway. So could you please make the videos available to the public?
