I’m a mechanic and I have had these boots for a year now and they are so comfortable, never have feet or back issues, they have good traction on oily surfaces and have been holding up very well. I will say they probably are not the best choice for outdoor work are best for shop or warehouse work
As someone who wore these as work boots, the leather is rather thin and I wrecked them fast. I might recommend a boot with a thicker upper if your intention is for work. They are good for summer though, my feet never got particularly hot.
Hi Nick, big fan here. I purchased a pair of black Bull runs based on your review, as I liked the look, and that soft outsole really appealed to me. I did have a rather long break in, as I needed to keep my laces fairly tight to stop heel slip. But after about 5 weeks of every other day wear, they finally relented and are extraordinarily comfortable now. That stitch down upper is fantastic, and a lot more comfortable for me than having my big and little toe riding on the welt all day. I still have Red wing and Thorogood mocs, but these are my go-to. Once broken in, the Danners provide me the best all day comfort on the concrete shop floor. Its subjective, but I love the look of this boot. Thanks so much for pointing this boot out Nick, as it was not on my radar.
I have these in brown, BUY THE WHITE'S MOC TOE or MILLWOOD in the $250 range. I have the MILLWOOD and they are better in every way I'm aware of. The Danner's leather is thin and the tongue is not well designed for comfort. After giving up after a year or two, I decided to cut the tongue fold in several pain places, now the Danner's fit much better. I have read online of other people having the same issue. Never had to do this on any boot before. White's Millwood comfortable on day one and the leather is a thick, work type. Danner 503 last 13EE is tennis shoe sizing for me and fits well. White's Millwood is a 12.5 EE and are about an 1/10 of an inch longer than the 13EE Danner 503 last/boot. MILLWOOD'S fit well.

I have a pair of these in brown leather (steel toe/non-moc toe). Mine were hard to break in but they are so comfortable now. I have worn them for 5 years. Danner does an amazing job recrafting their boots so I would not worry about the "stitch down" issue pointed out in the video but you will have to send them to Danner and wait a few weeks.
I have never resoled the Bull Runs (I’ve had them 5 years but don’t wear them every day). But I have had my Danner Acadia boots (work boots) recrafted and resoled and Danner did an amazing job!
I bought a pair and just got them yesterday. I can already tell that I’m going to like them a lot. Danner also had them at a discount right now so less than 200 bucks, which is a steal. True to size and quality. I’d definitely recommend them.
Good to know the sole isn’t good for asphalt, apparently all UK pavements and roads are asphalt so that’s a pretty huge dealbreaker. Are there any that are good for asphalt?
Just got a pair of these and i love em. The unlined is nice in the vegas heat. I use them for like light work around not much style but i like that they are stylish enough. I didnt have a tough break in period thank god. Once you break in some jim green boots everything else is easy lol. They are super comfortable as well. Great review
I have liked my Bull Runs but they are not a substantial work boot. I'd say a good, light duty work boot and a very good casual boot. The leather is relatively thin. The soles wear about average to other Christy soles. Fit is slightly wide, which is nice. Ran true to size. Im a 12.5 brannock and a 12D ended up fine. A 12 wide would've been best, but the leather did stretch after a lot of wear. The fabric liner in the heel and forefoot of these boots does wear out and they will eventually have holes in them; boots I have with leather on the interior wear much longer. Mine are about at the end of their life-span and I've decided not to re-sole these boots and move on. All in all, I did like them-- none of the stitches ever busted and I always thought they looked good and they are fairly priced. With a more substantial mid-sole, slightly thicker leather, and leather reinforcement on the inside, this could be a really nice boot but of course it'd cost $100 more.
Literally my boots for work.haha I love them for riding my motorcycle as well. I brush the dirt off then add mink oil usually and they look great with some character. Only issue is the stitchdown area wears quickly.
Stridewise of course brother just adding some info, you do all the hard work and detailed reviews!haha. Also Danner is very particular with what they resole, if there’s any crack or significant damage to stitch down areas they won’t resole.
Stridewise should be fine I think your videos are very insightful and detailed. I do have a question for a different boot. As far as the Thursday Vanguard, how are those holding up for you? I want to get a pair but am iffy on long term durability and quality I love the design though
I've had these about 8 months now. I agree that the break-in takes a VERY long time, especially for the cuff (I'd say 500+ hours of wear with about 3 applications of mink oil pushed them into the "not painful" category). I don't hate them but I'm not sure I'd get them again for work (I'm a machinist).
@@paulbunyun3663 I'm too cheap to drop nearly $200 on a pair of boots and not get any use out of them, I guess. Nobody ever accused me of being smart...
You must have a different model or something these don't really require a break in ,I have tried every brand I recommend thorogoods as a flat footed person I work in them all day and when I get home I don't even notice I have them on im not rushed to take them off they are the most comfortable work boot i have ever worn
Different boots are stiffer or softer....their quarry and power foreman use alot stiffer and even double leather so they will run stiffer than say moc toe......they have bull run lux thats even a lighter more casual boot which you may have. Idk
Hey, I really like your videos. But you haven't yet reviewed the famous American cowboy boots. Any specific reason? Also not yet another famous one.. converse chuck Taylor. Can you please include them in your future review list?
I'm actually filming Chuck Taylors this weekend! Cowboy boots I really can't decide if I should, I think my brand is a bit more urban? Plus my accent might make me sound stupid in cowboy boots haha
If you're military/veteran/fire/police/etc. check out govx they offer these boots for $150. As of today (12/22) they are offering an extra 10% on your order (code: LATESANTA).
Round toe? You mean the blacksmith? These boots are 6 inches tall as well. I went a half size up from my Red Wings but if you like firmer fits you could use the same size as Red Wing I think
@@cs-yn9vb they're waterproof for sure. I picked a pair up and been in the rain and all that since then and they're fine. I'd definitely recommend a pair to anyone but be sure to try on a couple different pairs to be sure they feel even so they wear and stretch even. Overall a great boot!
I always notice you stab your toe with your boots on into the ground in all your videos. Don't you worry about messing up the toe on your boots? This mars the sole and welt and possibly the leather toe.
Oh wow; what a time to post a video. My neighbors woke me up. They are arguing and the wife is throwing the husband's stuff out the window again. I open RU-vid and proceed to watch Nick.
Slip resistant and slip proof = two different things. Water resistant and water proof = two different things. Fire resistant and fire proof = two different things.
Really enjoy the comfort and feel of danner boots (I use the "mountain pass" lately), but the way they skirted around your questions about the sourcing of the leather leads me to believe that a fair bit is from overseas.
As someone who does a industrial job, these boots are completely comfortable but they don't last leather is thinner than thorogood and Redwing and the bottom wears fast. Their a great hipster boot but for real work go thorogood or Carolina boots or Redwing...
Frankly I rather buy DANNER'S for $145.00 or $199.00 just as long as their DANNER'S BOOT. By the way there's a lot at imitations out there and where this built back in the early 60's?
@@justmeeagainn Occasionally you can find a factory flawed second or someone selling a pair they did not like for a deal. You have to jump on the deals when you find them.
Thorogood Are just… The worst. Their QC is all over the place, as with their sizing. I find Dan or to be more comfortable especially in the toebox, having some more room than the ridiculously narrow thorogood or red wing.
a European doing a review on an American work boot like it’s style is “tough guy” 😂😂😂 redwing and thorogood make WORK boots.. you yuppies look goofy using them for style. Same as people who don’t work wearing carhartt.
I have had mine about 6 months now and i wear them 5 days a week I’m a paint contractor and I’m a bigger guy and they’re holding up really well just a slight taper but not much
