I love the fact that players consider it a honor to take a nasty elbow from Gordie. I bet when that happened they feel they have arrived in the NHL.

If am not mistaken , was not Danny Gare having a career year and was having his career year ? By Gordie getting the all star award I believe Danny Gare never got another chance to appear in an all star game . There should have been a special category for Gordie to appear , but not at the expense of a player having a career year and his only chance for am all star game . Yes , the all star game was in Detroit , but Gordie was having by Howe standards , a very sub par season . I was surprised and a little disappointed that no one came up with a solution to satisfy them both .

He was a dirty cheap shot artist.
