Incase you didn't know, that fursuit head isnt Dannys, it belongs to Ryan. A fan sent it to him as partially a joke and as a sincere gift, you can see it in one of Super Megas fan mail episodes.
@@moonlight2870 Given how popular entertainment with anthropomorphized animals is, I'd say an overwhelming majority of people do. Hell, even ancient myths incorporate them all over the place.
@@Aeghamedic I think the idea of furry might be people who also see themselves in those anthropomorphic characters? Like more than most people would? Idk not part of that community, but just a guess.

“I don’t think furries existed in the 80s.” -Arin Me: “So...we are just going to ignore Thundercats and various other cartoons that came out in this decade?”
I feel like its not insane to believe that atleast 70% of the kids who saw Rouge has had very "interesting" thoughts without having to be furries. So its probably not as Red Flag-ish to alot of people.
@@bluntsummary1666 nope, never did. Most of my exposure to sexual things came from something else that became sexual over time, mostly because of other people and Google searches.
@@cheerfulgestalt3282 I've stopped actively watching them, so I wouldn't have known. But good to know, he could have denied it all he wants, but we always knew the truth.
People (including Dan up until recently) fail to realize that you don't have to be a full-blown Fursuit Orgy creep to be a furry. It just means you either appreciate or can get sexually aroused by anthropomorphic animal characters.
People can appreciate anthropomorphic animal characters, but I wouldn't call them furries. Also because of the negative connotation that comes with the word, but mainly because "thinking an animal character is neat" shouldn't automatically label someone. If someone watched Family Guy and said Brian is like their fourth favorite character, why would that make them a furry? What I'm saying is the word should be used for people who are significantly interested in anthropomorphic animals either normally or sexually. Not those who can like a few characters that also happen to be anthropomorphic. :)
Yeah, though I feel how it's used also implies some involvement with its community; I would say danny could justify saying he's not a furry because he isn't involved at all with its modern fandom community at all, but he also could just as easily justify saying he is a furry because he has a vested interest in anthro media.
Well most furrys are humanoid and have human like genitals, so it ain't weird. And they do have a point about sexualized anthropomorphic characters in kids shows, just look at thunder cats.
Well, think of it this way: being a "trekkie" puts you specifically into the denomination of being a fan of Star Trek. Being a "furry", however, is more of a flag rather than just liking a show. Usually, a furry is somebody who identifies with the word as part of their identity rather than somebody that just is because of a few things they like.
@@fatelyre "Furry" is a bit of a weird fandom since it's more of a genre fandom than a fandom for a piece of media or franchise. Which, to my knowledge, no other fandom is like. Unless you count aesthetic fandoms like steampunk...? But yeah. Furry is neat because it takes a general concept and turns any amount of devotion/love for it into its own identity.
@@fatelyre I mean, I feel like Suko is onto something with that comparison... like: To an outsider, a "Trekkie" conjures a stereotype of the most die-hard and obsessive fans. These are the people who are fluent in Klingon (unironically), and fill their home with mint-condition collectibles and toys to the point of hoarding and seemingly refuse to shower. As far as that goes, this would be equivalent to people getting into fur-suits and fucking each other. Like, yes: those people exist within the fandom, but they are not wholly representative, and a lot of them probably don't even agree with that and/or think it's gross.
4:57 pretty much summarizes this whole thing, in a way. It's seriously the most common sentiment I've noticed of people realizing they're furry. You have NO IDEA how many comments I've heard to the effect of "I'm not a furry, but I like such-and-such..." Like... I feel that some people who enjoy anthropomorphism don't want to admit they're furry because it's become such a pejorative term. The Internet has kinda trained people to think that it's somehow gross or bad to have a harmless interest in things. Yes, furries are weird (speaking from experience), but the idea of someone being into bestiality because they're a furry is as ridiculous as calling someone a pedo because they like youthful-looking adult women. Just my two cents on it.
I don't consider myself a furry but I do recognize that I'm attracted to men, if I can visibly tell that it is an adult man, I have a high chance of being attracted to it It doesn't matter what species of humanoid man. But as soon as it gets visibly more animal, I start to be put off by it
The way I see it, only cowards use that phrase of "I'm not a furry, but...". Some people use it to justify hating on furries while crushing on anthros, while others use it to try and keep the stigma from latching onto them in fear of backlash. I say, own up to it and anyone who says otherwise can fuck off.
Denial: Dan playing off his remarks as jokes. Anger: Dan getting flustered when Arin joins in on the joke. Bargaining: Dan tries to figure out what a furry is to discover himself. Depression: concludes that furry is derogatory and people are making fun of him. Acceptance: Dan realizes all the support he is getting and finally admits who and what he is.
One big advantage with anthropomorphic characters is that you can make them so much more expressive, can emote with ears and tails, some cases even with fur
"I wonder if 'ghetto' is gonna be a word that, like, 5 years from now no one says because it's offensive. I could definitely see that happening." "I just feel like apologizing is the way to go. Because it's like... You're not gonna be able to erase saying that now." Holy crap, two back-to-back prophecies that both turned out to be true!
Dan making furry jokes is like Arin making gay jokes. I'm like 98% sure Dan is not a furry and Arin wouldn't actually have sex with a dude, but sometimes i wonder...
I love how the internet bullied Arin into retracting his entirely true and completely accurate assessment of the entire furry community as sexual deviants. _Admit it._
For me the definition of a furry is someone that's attracted by the animal part in a anthropomorphic character. Like if we take rouge the bat, if you're attracted to the boobs part, bats don't have boobs, that's no furry. But if you're attracted to the ears or wings part, you're a furry. Dan is 100% a furry.
The best part about anthropomorphic characters, is if they were real you'd get cat people who could purr and all kinds of soft and snuggly hugs and cuddles from your partner (So long as they're actually an individual that has fur). I would totally cuddle with Fox McCloud tbh
Notice how Arin hissed in through his teeth when Dan said he used to be into anthropomorphic characters? That’s genuine concern, because for some shitty reason, the internet thinks furries are some weird thing when not all furries have fetishes.
oh thank god, they put in the "i was uh... lying" part XD that was so good ^~^ did they even finish skyward sword? also, man there were a lot of furry moments in the skyward sword playthrough
4:59 I wouldn't know cause I'm not a furry, but I'm pretty sure most furries are just people who like animal characters. Let's also not forget that a lot of furry communities are safe-spaces for queer people, and fursuits can be used as a "protective layer" for people who have sensory overload issues. A loud minority of furries are attracted to animal characters. An even smaller minority of furries refer to themselves as "therians" or "otherkin", but it's worth noting that not everyone who calls themselves "otherkin" are furries either. (An even smaller minority of furries also engage in zoophilia which is animal cruelty, but it's also worth noting that not everyone who sexually abuses animals are furries either)
