The Dansette Junior De Luxe is alive again!
The motor was seized the speaker needed changing along with capacitors and the UCL83 audio valve and a Stylus. The original Ful-Fi TC8 cartridge is fine!
The speaker was dated March 1958 so the machine would have been made around that time.
I'll update in future videos on its progress.
Thanks for watching!!! :)

I really enjoy seeing these older players come alive once more. Great sounding little player!

@pyestudiocolour This little Junior seems so happy to be in the land of the living again! It spent yesterday evening serenading us on the kitchen table...I think it enjoyed the continual "Oh how cute is that" comments...haha!!! The cartridge seems to perform very well with the TC8 'S' stylus I fitted...No skips or jumps on anything we threw on it. As to the 'De-Luxe' I haven't got a clue...haha!!! Covering commencing tonight...Looking forward to more from your superb Califone!!! Thanks Neil! :)

@bluenazz Hi Craig! This little baby Junior has the same size speaker as a Dansette Major which is a far larger player in the range! The audio valve is a UCL83 and half the size of the later transformer driven EL84 in the bigger models. Even though half the size, the UCL83 always gives an amazing output and normally far more than an EL84. So...Little baby player with a good loud voice...haha!!! Enjoy making them well again!...The case is now half way recovered. Thanks for commenting! :)

That has nice sound for a "junior" all-manual model. The oval speaker is a little more substantial than what we usually found on "kiddie" record players here in the 'states. I assume the platter drive is made by BSR; it looks similar to the one that we started to see here in the 1970s, except the speed control had become a lever on a round disk, rather than a knob. I wonder if that switch also retracts the idler pulley. That was always such an important feature to prevent damage; it was so easy to leave these machines unattended without remembering to put the selector in N.

@IVORIESMAN Who was it made by Joe?..You're getting me all interested! We need to talk further on the subject...haha!!! Record players are like cars...All the models and sizes of a particular age look quite similar. This little fella has been stripped of his covering...The wood work has been filled and sanded...He now has has a new bottom covering....Just the motor board and lid to do...I'm so slow at covering...Hopefully be finished soon! Thanks for commenting! :)

I love the front grill and the molded pieces for the speed control and the tone arm are nice too. Is the arm metal or plastic?

@727JeffN Hi Jeff...I'm just putting it back together after finishing the recovering last night. As far as the motor goes...I just stripped it down...Cleaned all the parts...Reassembled and lubricated the bearings and bushes...Or 'Bushings' as you call them over there...haha!!! As long as the windings on the motor are ok the rest is simple! Thanks for commenting! :)

@Christos1978 Just putting it back together now Chris...I'll do a video soon! Got another identical Junior De Luxe to do after...Then a Major...The list is endless...Rexine, glue, capacitors and valves everywhere right now...haha!!!

@JPa311979 The tone arm is plastic along with the speed control knob and motor on/off clutch lever. Under the speed control is clear perspex with gold writing beneath. The front grille is made from plastic sections which slot together...On this model they are painted gold. The Dansette badge above the grille is brass and the black and silver surround behind it is 'hot foil' embossed paper. Hopefully recovering the case tonight....Thanks for commenting!!! :)
