This track sounds absolutely dropdead BRILLIANT on this equipment. Glad i've got one, but am not glad to have to say it needs some work doing on it. Is in storage at the moment. Still never mind, when things improve I'll get it out of storage and play this track on it, i having a copy of this 12'
They used this as the walk-on music at Ayresome Park football ground in the 60's and 70's. Good to hear the full thing, as they used to fade it out around the 1:15 mark!
I love those Garrard changers. I'm pleased to see the flip over remains. As for playing side sadlle, perfect, I have that on a 7" from when it was released.
I must be misremembering, but I am sure there was a version of this song that had a brief trumpet fanfare in the second and third verses (about 1:15 and again at 2:02) and concluded rather than fading out at the end.
This is the cleanest capture that I have heard on RU-vid for Norrie Paramor's version of this song. A couple of years ago, I had a dream that this was the song used in a Disney cruise ship commercial. In the dream, I turned to my wife and said, "That song! It's that song! As I was barely waking up, I had this big smile on my face and then when fully awakened I realized that it was just a dream. darn, Darn, DARN! I remember first hearing this song when my dad drove us up as kids to Vancouver, BC. While we're driving through Seattle in 1973, this song was playing on an AM station. It fit the beautiful scenery of Seattle. Every now and then, I would hear it on the stations in Vancouver, BC, but I could never get a hold of the deejay to find out the name. Fast forward to internet song search programs. Using the mic, I tried humming it. I tried whistling it. None of the programs returned a name. Fast forward 10 years later to this evening, Sep-2023, my wife and I went ballroom dancing and the instructor played a kinda strange Cha Cha song. I tried identifying it with Google's song search. No luck. My wife tried. No luck. It was driving us nuts. Then, just on a whim, I decided to whistle that song I heard when driving through Seattle. My wife said, "That's not the song you used to whistle to me. I'm pretty sure it doesn't sound like that." I said, "I think you might be right. Google says that there is a 32% probability that it's Soul Coaxing (Ame Caline). It can't possibly be that song." When we got home I did a RU-vid search and what do you know?! IT IS THE SONG!!!!!!!! It took 50 years, but I found it!!!!!!! I walked into the kitchen and told my wife and she said, "No way!" She heard the song and said, "That's it all right. That's the one! You're memory is pretty darn good!" *

Those old portable players invariably had a tone control instead of the separate bass and treble controls that featured on the more sophisticated models. Even my mid-50s Pye Black Box with its excellent reproduction had only a tone control. But those sturdy warhorses of pop music 45rpms did a great job for their buyers.
I just discovered your RU-vid channel and I love your videos/content but then realised you haven’t been active/on here since 10 years ago. Hope you doing ok. ❤️ Wondering do you have any other social platforms I can follow? Also would you have any Dansette Monarch, Senator, Bermuda, Conquest or Tempo for sale by any chance? Thank you 🙏🏼 Hopefully you see this and reply🤞🏻

Hello 👋🏻, I have questions 🙋🏻♀️ - 1) Can it be stacked with 12”/inch vinyls? 2) Can it be stacked with different sizes of vinyls mix together at the same time? 3) What is the maximum number of vinyls it can hold/stack at a time? Hope to hear from you Many thanks 🙏🏼
I own a Black Box with an old BSR autochanger/handbook/turntable paper mat with extra info printed on it. Bought from an auction in Paignton, Devon some years ago where I was able to find a small Torquay shop which put it into working order for me. It's a lot of fun when playing old 78rpm dance band records from way back, with performers like Bidgoods Broadcasters and other vintage ensembles from the heyday of dance bands. I do agree about the bass obtained from this unit - hi-fi (as its badge declares) in its own time. I'm intrigued by the spindle attachment that plays 45rpm discs without the centre piece. I have some of these that I can interchange when playing discs from my small pop collection of half a century ago.

I have a record player exactly the same as this one. I got it for Christmas in 1979 when I was 14 years old and t was my first record player and I used it a lot in the 1980s but have not used it for years. I still have it and I am a bit wary of plugging it in as it is over 40 years old and am worried about it blowing the electrics in our house.
Everytime I think I've got every Halloween themed song, I fall down the rabbit hole of vintage 45 and 78 records. I now have 527 on my Halloween playlist. Thank you You Tube for adding to my ITUNES.
We had one of these from 2nd half of 60's. Oh my God that record. I remember the tv show. Being a kid I played Fireball XL5 excessively. When I grew up bought a Garrard Zero 100 1974 and still use it in 2022.
I heard this song quit a long time ago but did not the name of the artist, or the name of the song, tonight I heard for the first time again and I downloaded it, I’ve been playing it over and over all day.
