I watched like 5 minutes on accident thinking it was gonna be good many years ago. I still regret that decision to this day. Had to rewatch the original series to cleanse myself.

@@anjaneyasreetrout2444 I WISH I could've seen it for what it was when I watched the trailer. I was just a fan who wanted to see a beloved series get adapted for an even broader audience. It could have done so much for Avatar had it been good. At the very least, I told myself if it was bad, I would at least get to see a giant water sea monster destroy the Fire Nation. Not only was it awful, it also didn't even incorporate that into the story. It used a giant wave instead.

How can you mix the two up at all? Yeah, I can take the removal of the word Avatar from the title but that didn't warrant a renaming of characters starting with A

I mean, dont get me wrong, still terrible movie, but if anything was done well, it was seperating the nations based on ethnicity based on the real world, instead of just asia. Fire nation being indian(I guess because M.Night loves fire) Earth kingdom being east asian through (north)west african(asia and africa are by far the biggest landmasses) Water tribes being the US, Europe and Australia(3 seperate places, 2 of which have been inhabited after exploration, just like in the series) Air nomads, would have been native american and Noah had claimed to have some native american heritage(altho, that was never confirmed). This is 100% fine in terms of adaptation, you broaden the cast to a bigger selection of actors without risking to lose quality due to a lack of skilled actors without harming the setting of the movie too much. Even clothing and weaponry had been adjusted to fit those cultures better. Out of all complaints being made, the ethnicity complaint is by far the least valid.

@@Predated2 All of the Avatar universe either takes Southeast, East, and probably South Asian inspiration. Water tribes I think are the only exception, being inspired by indigenous tribes, Inuit to be more specific.

Yeah that was one of the main things that pissed me off. They got all of the races wrong in the movie. If you’re going to make a movie that has diversity at its CORE, get it. damn. right.

I actually thought that part of the movie made sense. Like Katara always has to carry water around to bend and earth benders need rocks to bend but fire benders can just conjure fire out of nowhere? I'm not supporting the movie or anything, but I did think that part made sense.

How? If fire benders needed a source of fire to bend then they would be so easy to put down. smother their fire or douse it and it would be game over. they never would have gotten where they were. the other elements exist naturally in the world. fire doesn't. fire is a reaction, an energy that does not simply exist indefinitely like earth, water, and air. Fire benders needed to be able to create it at will to have a more even playing field with the other benders, and to tip the scales so heavily in their favor as to wage a war and nearly conquer the world over. it was essential for them not to need a pre-existing fire for the story to happen at at. It does NOT make sense for that to change.

@@DeathBringerBecky That is what M.night got wrong about fire bending. It was said in the show that the fire does not come from the environment but from the benders themselves. Literally, in the first episode, Iroh was teaching Zuko about fire bending basics of how one's must learn to control their breath.

@@HuyVo-gd2cj Yeah, to me it's crazy to change something that important. Like Dante said, no one want Luke's name to become Loke. A huge part of their fighting style was centered around the fact they made fire from nothing, too. So many things, so much of the lore and culture and story itself would be different if that wasn't the case. it frustrates me deeply.

It wasn't completely 100% perfect. But damn near close. And the most weird thing is that m night shamalyan begged to do this movie. No one requested he do it. And while he has some good movies he fumbled this so hard. From the bending, the cultures depicted, the white washed main cast. He delivered nothing on this beloved show. It's not even a cash grab because a cash grab probably would have done better. And yet he complains that AMERICANS just don't get him. And the Japanese think it was genius when the Japanese feel the same way. Why would they feel different, the one culture you didn't white wash was the Japanese the fire nation. And you made them indian for "diversity" yet white washed the rest of the main cast. And the fire nation is based on you guessed it the Japanese. Anyway I agree with you sorry for the rant

funny enough, i went with my friend to see the movie but then her mom got mad at something and made us leave before we could see it. few years later, i watched the show and it was AMAZING, so i thought "i NEED to see this movie." the min. they uttered the name "ONG" i turned it off and will never try to watch the rest.

I watched the movie before the series, and I was really young when I did. I was a little kid and my idea of high quality entertainment is equivalent to smearing glue on my hands and peeling it off like it's dead skin, so I obviously liked the movie. As I got much older, I started hearing a lot of talk about the series, and how it has an AMAZING redemption arc, magic system, and art style. I remembered liking the movie, so I watched the show and I fell in love. Now, when ever I see or hear clips of the movie, I feel so ashamed of my original thoughts on it. (I still think the glue thing is fun, but that's besides the point.)

Since he’s too old for the character and can’t do the physical moves necessary for the fighting it would be cool if they could subtly alter the voice of the actor they get in post and use Dante to do it. Not as obvious as a dub, and not as subtle as what they did for the songs in Queen, but somewhere in between just to feel some similarity/continuity.
