Join Jess from Sallie Tomato in the Daphne Online Class! The Daphne Handbag is a quick sew, and fun to make! The unique shape of this bag makes it appear to be a designer handbag. In the tutorial video, Jess completes the project from start to finish, following along with the pattern. Throughout the video Jess also shares tips to help with the written instructions.

FEATURES: exterior accent, faux piping, zipper closure, an adjustable crossbody strap, two interior pockets, and optional rivets
FINISHED SIZE: 9-1/2” wide at base, 9” high, and 4-1/2” deep
RECOMMENDED FABRICS: For the best results, use quilt weight cotton, canvas, denim, or linen for the exterior. I recommend quilt weight cotton for the lining. Use cork or vinyl for the contrast.
HARDWARE REQUIRED: All of the hardware required for this pattern is included in the Daphne Hardware Kit, or can be purchased individually. You can use metal strap connectors and a metal zipper tab if you choose not to make your own.

I just finished making this bag and I absolutely love it. It has such a unique shape and looks so professional. I felt like I was really learning some new skills since this bag has a lot of features I had not done before. This tutorial was so helpful as are the other Sallie Tomato tutorials I have used. There were no instructions (cutting or sewing) for the crossbody strap connectors at all. I'm so glad I saw this video because, otherwise, if you just follow the pattern one would assume that this strap (which is not even included in the pattern's photo) must attach to the handles on the front. I have yet to finish the bag but I imagine this would give a very different look.

Hi Judy, Thanks for asking your questions. You should find the cutting of the Strap Connectors on page 1, in the CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS, listed under EXTERIOR. Then the instructions for making the Strap Connectors are detailed on page 4, under PREPARE STRAP CONNECTORS, and attaching them is located on page 6, step 11. We hope this helps, and can definitely see how having both Handle Connectors and Strap Connectors to keep track of made it a little more challenging. What type of thread works best on faux leather?

Thanks for watching this video and asking your great question! We highly recommend using a 40wt polyester thread because it is durable for both piecing and topstitching.
