I wouldn't like to see any new Daria episodes, times have changed and it wouldn't translate anymore. If anything she'd probably be considered cool at her school now. I love the show for the nostalgia, but I wouldn't it ruined by any new episodes, even if it followed her as an adult.
personally i agree, definitely something that can be rewatched though and still give that kick of rebellion by being uncool, but i definitely agree that in a more modern setting it just wouldnt work out
even thought this was 6 years ago i’m still going to have to disagree with the idea of her being “cool at school” just because the high school social hierarchy pyramid has evolved, it doesn’t mean that anything has changed. However, because of the decade/era this show was based around it would be genuinely impossible to get the fresh Daria feeling if the show were to ever re-run (which will never happen). If there was some sort of reboot I would definitely give it a try, as long as it has the same elemental air that the original has-which is literally impossible for some producers to do.
i dont think it would work on high school if it wasnt reaaaaaally thought through before but i would like 30-year-old daria working as a journalist or writer for some show or whatever she ended up doing
I wish was a teen in the 90s it looked so fun but I was in elementary school when this came out glad I was able to watch it this is back when MTV used to have variety on their channel. It is a joke now. who remembers the show Fanatic lol
oh it was everywhere you looked entertainment was great and memorable i think thats whats missing from todays tv and movies is the focus to make something timeless and classic to much politics mucking things up .
Being aware of the flaws and hypocrisies of society and pointing them out is, surprisingly, far more than a "tumblr thing." Countercultures have been doing this shit for so long now
I love Daria! I wish it was still made. The singer of that theme does sound slightly like Daria. When I first started watching it I thought it was her. This is a good theme! :D
Such nostalgia. I fucking loved this show with a passion back in the day. Ah the 90s, the last great decade; such a simpler more authentic time. And I swear a lot of 90s cartoons were scripted far better and appealed to the intelligence of the audience, rather than dumbing itself down like most shows do today. Another thing, 90s theme intros to cartoons were just the fucking best! Fuck I miss the 90s. I guess that means I'm old hat now..
Yeah I have. I actually think they're really awesome, and quite witty. However, there is an aesthetic to them that seems less "real" than the approach a lot of 90s/and earlier cartoons took - which I personally miss. In some ways the cartoons of the 90s had a generally darker tone, or were less "filtered" in certain ways. It's hard to describe exactly as one could also argue the other way around. I guess it just comes down to that the 90s are nostalgic for me :P
+Silverlin212 The dark cynicism is a reflection of Generation-X's Zeitgeist. The 90's was their moment in the cultural spotlight. Think grunge and Rocko's Modern Life.
I work as a caregiver for the elderly and whenever my client is asleep I sit on the couch and watch this. I never got a chance to watch it before then, and I love it. Daria is who I thought I was in highschool lol.
Oddly enough, in high school I had a classmate named Daria who looked and acted like this Daria, except she wasn't super smart like this Daria, she was an otaku gamer.
I loved this show when it was out and still do. One of the best shows MTV produced (along with Beavis and Butt-Head) before they started to show reality crap.
i never saw it when it was aired even thought i was young enough to see it, but i caught it around 2 year later and it now one of my fav show, i wish i saw it earlier
They used to show this animated show, here in the UK, on Channel 5 - this was back in the days.. the late 1990s if I remember. Wasn't a fan or anything, just remember seeing it.

Dude, the only thing depressing about this cartoon is Daria's voice. Remember that episode when she went into a care-home to read to the residents and one of them wanted to kill herself? Apart from that, this cartoon rocks!
Daria TV-14 DLSV Since Paramount Plus iCarly was canceled. We are bringing back to back episodes on Daria. It's now on Paramount & Disney Network Plus.
welcome to the 90s, punk music was booming and it was really awesome not gonna lie. and no, its a punk girl band called splendora. if you're looking for more, id recommend bikini kill, another punk girl band from the 90s or so.
in season 5 episode 2 there is a song at 12:45 during the transition into the next scene after tom leaves and i cant find the name of it anywhere does anyone know wat it is?
Generally, the voice acting isn't bad, it's just that Daria doesn't really sound like a teen...and don't get me started on Trent's voice. I'm sorry about your ears, but the theme tune is excellent.
Everyone who likes this should check out the band 'Greed Five Egg's', they only have a couple of songs so far, but I remembered this theme because of them ;)
