The First Legion was almost my favourite, because of their flexibility, unlike the Ultramarines claiming and flaunting their imitation of the First. As to the Lord Primarchs, my favourite headcanon is that the Second Primarch was the Lion's dear brother who was meant to lead the eternal war against Chaos, the Second Legion being the parallel and foil to the Luna Wolves. The Eleventh Primarch being a master strategist, the Eleventh Legion primary being masters of Void Supremacy but on the ground serve a flexible vanguard/deep scouting proficiency, as the foil of the First Legion. The Lion is socially awkward baby, he and Leman are the foil to each other. Leman is a sophisticated man that pretends to be a beast, but the Lion is a beast that pretends to be a man. The Lion things in the concept of a predator, a hunter, and so being empathic confuses him. It is why I see the Lion as having more in common with Leman and the stoic Dorn, than Guilliman.
Can you imagine how much faster the Fallen would've been dealt with if the Dark Angels had been *honest* instead of paranoid freaks? I mean, they weren't the only Loyalist legion to have members turn traitor.
Dark Angels and Ultramarines are noted as Jack of All trades legions, the difference being that DA were the generals and UM the statesmen. And both legions being massive at their peak. I think DA vs Ultramarines would have been a much more interesting HH matchup over word bearers.
One of my favourite lore vids and my favourite loyalist Legion/Chapter. =) ps old man you had a little evil laugh many times in the story... did you enjoy the power fantasy?
I have to wonder what would have happened if the Inquisitor, rather than use this as an excuse to tarnish all of the Dark Angels, instead expressed a desire to aid the Dark Angels in destroying the traitor. Would the Inquisitor still have been killed?
@@seand.g423 I'd like to see a story about an Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus who is good friends (or as close as you can get) with one of the Dark Angels...and then discovers a member of The Fallen! What he sees is a marine in Dark Angel attire committing atrocities and heretical acts. Out of respect for his friend, he asks him to explain this. The Dark Angel captain's demeanor changes so subtlety that only his inquisitor friend notices that he has deeply disturbed the marine. Due to their mutual respect, the Space Marine asks the Inquisitor to forgive him for what he is about to do...and the inquisitor is knocked out and locked up while this information is brought to the council...along with how it got there. The Dark Angel makes a case for the Inquisitor to not be killed, as he is still in the dark as to what he is seeing. If the Inquisitor is told that this is just a random rogue band, then perhaps he would be allowed to live.
UM are pretty much the paralel legion to DA. Two sides of the same coin two legions of Jacks of all trades, one more leaning to statesmanship and one more in combat. More fitting paralell to UM than the wordbearers as some suggest
ah yes, the dark angels self-important crusade to do so much damage to the imperium in the name of hunting the fallen, that no one even bothers remembering the fallen.
Do the Dark Angels ever actually get any good 30K books? I've read exactly 5 books they appear in and every time Lion El'Jonson comes across like a massive jonson, and unlike Rogal Dorn, I don't have TTS and Baldermort to come around to liking him. It's to the point that me and my friends joke that the Lion has to have 100% of the credit and glory or else he sends those responsible for stealing his thunder back to bootcamp.
