This was the greatest tv show I've ever seen. I watched on accident so had no clue what it was about. That is the best part...not knowing about time travel, interrelated families, etc, etc etc. Better to not have a clue where things are going.
I don't think taking notes is necessary, but watching the end credits of each episode helped me remember people's names. Resist the temptation to look at the IMDB or Wikipedia page if you want to avoid spoilers! I looked at the IMDB for 2 seconds and got spoiled on a major plot point :/
I actually got spoiled a couple of times but they literally revealed all I got spoiled about in the next episode lol. It was the first time a spoiler didn't ruin a show for me.
@@itzelwisteria1819 You were lucky! This was the only show where I got burned by IMDB. Usually Twitter is the culprit, but I don't think Dark had a Stranger Things/GOT-size Twitter following!
I only just started the show (I’m 4 episodes in) and I decided to look up the meaning of the name Mikkel. Google threw in what I think is a major spoiler in the suggested search thing as soon as I typed in Mikkel 😭
Probably my favourite show ever, top 3 at least. I loved how well-thought-out everything is, the pay-offs are really earned, the casting and the acting are fantastic as well. And, on top of all of that, the soundtrack is amazing and connects perfectly.
Ooooh so excited for this! I loved this series. Notes on plot aren’t totally necessary, but it might be helpful to make a genogram as you go! Also, glad you’re watching it subbed rather than dubbed. One of my favourite parts of this show was the various adjectives given to the score. You get things like: [OPPRESSIVE MUSIC] [UNNERVING MUSIC] [DOOMED MUSIC] It’s very German.
I will never forget how years ago I was watching an English language interview of the actors for this show and someone commented on that like "if they all know English why didn't they just film the show in English?" This show came out in 2017 and I still remember that comment because it was so baffling to me.
YES! New Dark reactions! This is my all-time favorite show, it raises the bar for all other shows you might watch in the future. You're in for an amazing ride, and yes, you're supposed to feel confused! Will definitely follow these, +1 subscriber!
I love Love LOVE that you're watching Dark! I am so excited to get to ride along with you on your viewing. I've watched the show 4 times thru previously and I find new things every time... including this time with your viewing. Stoked for more. Thank you for your content. Liked and shared.
YES, YES, YES. I will watch your reaction for sure though all the seasons as dark is such an amazing show to watch reactions to. Through multiple reactions I have even discovered more details that I didn't notice
You will be amazed by the storytelling of this show! Every scene is like a little jigsaw piece of a huge picture - in the last second of the last episode of the last season you will be sad and at the same time lucky how fantastic this show was written, edited and produced! Its a masterpiece of television/movie making!
I have seen so many Dark comment sections and they are usually very good not to spoil a reactor. One reaction was moderated. The moderator would just delete any comment they didn't like. It was a complete power trip.
The amount of details they were able to keep track of is amazing. Just the selection of songs which are always referring to the character's situation or mindset in that moment (or the locus they're at) is so polished. You knowing it is timetravel involved distracts you way too much. You can't think ahead in this show (we all tried though), one might get the one or the other thing correct but in most cases, that'll cause even more questions.
Haha yes, you’re supposed to be confused. I kind of wish you didn’t know ahead of time about the time travel because I feel like that takes away some of the surprise, but I have to say that I really enjoyed your reaction. I’ve watched A LOT of Dark reactions and so far you are in the top 3 of my favorites. I love that you talk to the characters the way I do when I watch things. 😂 Definitely excited to watch you try to figure out this show as it goes along.
So excited you're watching this! Agreed, you might miss what's on screen if you're taking notes. What you may want to do is just jot down names, so you know who's who (it's a large cast). Looking forward to watching this with you 🙂.
I’m almost finished season 3 and at some points I wished I had taken notes. So many questions. I’m going to watch it through a second time and take notes the second time.
You'll probably need moderators for your comment section if u don't have it already. I helped moderate for a channel when they were doing Dark and some people do spoilers but more problematic were the people that say things like "pay attention to this it will be important later" or "did you see that thing that could be relevant" you know the hint hint, nudge nudge kinda comments that i still consider spoilery
Great reaction. I loved this series. One of the very best for me and ridiculously overlooked by so many because it’s not in English. Plus when some writers say they planned it all out you know they are making that up, whereas this series you really see that that is completely true. You definitely have a heads up knowing time travel plays a role, but hopefully you’ll enjoy the twists and turns.
Yasssss! I’d say DARK is the dark and moody version of stranger things but with DARk it’s jumps so much that if u blink I’ll get lost in the story line lol
Be prepared to say 'I am confused' for the next 27 episodes. But there will be revelations. But but. With each revelation revealed there are even more questions 🙂 It's a great series. Arguably the greatest. These things are subjective though. For me. It's the complexity and absolute scope of the story combined with excellent acting and superb cinematography. Enjoy the ride.
Thanks for react to this show. It’s an all time favorite of mine. I’m a Lisa’s that you already know that it’s a time travel show but you are in for a wild ride. Can’t wait to see your reactions!
Excellent choice. Enjoy! And don't take notes or get caught up trying to be overly clever with observation. It's all about the drama and the atmosphere
Since you said you liked the use of colors....a hint: The colors give us a LOT of information. Pay attention at how yellow is used in a jacket and in a magic trick. They are literally using colors to tell us how to do the connection. The red and the blue are also important. And..of course...It is an amazing series.
OMG. This show is an absolute masterpiece , also a headache, and a heartbreak. There is no comedy in here at all. But it is also incredibly written, acted and edited. This show is an experience. BUT I also have something to say, sadly, this show won't bring you the views others like Stranger Things, Heartstopper or Squid Game will. For as great as it is, and how popular it was, it is also weirdly underrated. But there is one thing I learnt about this show, it has what is probably one of the nicest, non toxic and friendly fanbase ever. I have seen several reactions and I've never seen someone spoil this gem or even fight about petty things like ships or stuff like that.
Awesome, I clicked on this so fast when I saw it! Looking forward to the ride with the self proclaimed smartest man in the world 😉. Love that you picked up on the use of colour in the first 6 minutes of the series. I don't think it's a spoiler to say the guy in the woods was Jonas' dad. As for all your other speculation.. we'll have to wait and see! I didn't take notes but I did rewatch the first few episodes before continuing so I could get my head around who was who, and how they were related, a bit better
Subs are definitely better BUT, it might be better for you to do dub for the first season to get comfortable with this world and all it's characters then subs for S 2 and 3. So happy you decided to do this!! Stick with it, you won't regret it!
But then again the first season has the worst dub of the three. The voice actors have apparently no directions whatsoever in the booth... maybe the kids do and that is whey they deliver much better jobs than the adult!? But the dubbing book is also much worse than the sub book.
Even thought subs are better, this one is so complicated that maybe you could do dubbing? Also, this is one of my favourite shows, so unique. I have never seen anything like this before.
It’s too bad people hate on dubs so much. They aren’t “bad” in this. A couple voices don’t seem to match but it makes it so much easier to watch. I watched with subs AND dubs and it was fascinating to see the difference. I’ve watched the entire series three times. The first was with dubs. The last 2 with just subs. I’m just saying it should be an option without shame.
I don't hate dubs! I watch anime in dubs, I just can't watch live action stuff dubbed because I you can literally see that those words don't fit in their mouths lol
Sorry, but dub for this is terrible. Voices that don´t match is the only small problem. Translation is kinda wrong in many places so it can "fit" better, many emotions translate across differently than intended or are totally lost and dialog feels flat. Some voice actors have different accent for some reason, even if they should be from the same area. My personal pet peeve is also americanized way of saying names. I have nothing against good dub, but I can´t stand listening to this one, so I´m very happy for reactions with sub for this show especially. :o)
If you thought the dubs here were not bad then you might want to check out the German dub for your favorite movie. The adult voice actors obviously lack experience AND direction. This assumption is based on the fact that the kids overall do a better job. Still there is a lot of room for improvement. And then the dubbing book isn't that great after all. Since you already mentioned the mismatch between the dub and the subs. The person who wrote the subs often tried to use idioms with a similar meaning while the person writing the dub... well sometimes you note that they tried to achieve lip synchronisation but sometimes they simply give a literal translation that lacks the complete meaning. Weirdly Netflix produced (automated) CC subs for the original language - German - for season one but switched that for (automated) English CC subs for season two and three. So any foreign viewer should make sure to use the proper subs: if you ever watch a certain scene and the subs say "speaks [foreign language]" you have the wrong subs.
