The Male and female versions are both equally awesome imo. I love how the guitars have different pitches in each version to contrast with the pitches of each singer.
If I had to describe the differences, the female version feels like ripping though enemies like tissue paper. Like a leaving behind a trail of death and destruction. The male version feels like going head to head with your rival after a long time of not fighting them. Enveloping yourself in the feel of battle.

@@Xanderchu Well, long before I had searched for the lyrics of the song in order to learn it... when I found this video of the song in this version of the singer, I looked for the lyrics on the internet since no one had already put the lyrics in this video In short, I made a copy and paste out of laziness rather than simply copying the lyrics and also for those people who want to learn the lyrics.
To me, I like the male version a bit better. I know people don't like the auto-tune, but I think it adds to the moment. It feels like human and legion becoming one.
Yeah. The male version fits the situation more in my opinion. The female version is definitely more ear-pleasing I admit, but video game music has to fit the situation too even if it's at the expense of listenability outside of the game (Xenoblade X's NLA themes are a good example.)
I personally prefer the male version over the female version. The main reason being that I prefer how the instrumental sounds in the male version over the female version. It sounds more serious and fits a boss fight better than the females version.
This is a late comment but I feel the male version is more somber and tragic abouthaving to become a beast to protect others while the female version is more upbeat and gives of the wildness about becoming a beast

To be fair, this is their first? Musical post judging by their library. What's shocking is that they used vocaloid for the vocals and did their own work. That sounds harder than hastily mashing up the rock version of Bump of Chicken's Karma with the original Japanese vocals in Audacity as your first experience with the program and severely limited musical knowledge. I wouldn't know anything about that, no sir. I'm just sayin' that I wouldn't be surprised if Audacity was used in the making of it, bruddah.
I prefer the Male Version honestly. The Autotune fits well with the instruments and with the technological themes of Astral Chain as a whole. Edit: also, the Male holds his notes longer. You can tell this easier in a Duet mix.
@@mayday-tz4dv autotine actually fits with cyberpunk theme. Beverly is obviously the better singer but her singing style does not blend well. The instrumentals in male version is better imo.

I think the problem is the autotune is not well implemented. The pitch correction is unnecessary to the degree they use it, and creates an audio artifact. If they used it to modulate when moving up or down the scale, it would have felt less robotic, but autotuning to enforce exact pitch when the melody doesn't move much is not a good mixing choice in terms of creating a clean sound
So many comments said that the singer can't sing. Haha, I want to see their face when they hear him singing high notes in his songs. Avex provided their singer list to the game song's composers, and they still chose him because they knew he will nailed it!

Hmm I'm gonna be the unpopular opinion but I actually prefer the male version. The woman is no doubt the better singer with a much more range and explosiveness but I feel the auto tune of this song and the male singers more "techno voice" better fits the context of the game.
Ditto. Plus, everyone mentions how the female version is more empowering while the male version is more confident, and I much prefer the confident feel.
People give this version too much flak, mostly cause a majority choose the female MC. But I just love how this one sounds too. Sure, the female version is really good, but Male Dark Hero has it’s own charm.
This may be the unpopular opinion, but I think I like this version just a little bit more than the female version. The female has a louder, more passionate voice which causes the song to feel very impulsive, but not in a bad way, like a warrior tearing through enemies on the battlefield. I think that's also thanks to the lower key making it sound more serious. The male version on the other hand, has a higher key, and the vocals aren't as emotionally charged. Normally I'd see this as a bad thing, but in this situation, it kind of creates a more levelheaded feeling to the song, which I personally prefer. His voice is also highly auto tuned, which, once again, is typically seen as a bad thing, but considering the sci if nature of the this game, it feels like it fits the theme better. I think the best way to describe the differences between the two versions is like this; the female is a passionate fighter whereas the male is a levelheaded strategist.
I agree. And I'm generally the type of person who prefers adrenaline filled rock music. But there is something about this theme that I prefer more. It gives you a more somber feeling that is somewhat uplifting Which I think fits well with the fight
I also find this theme better mid-fight. Especially in Pt. Ult. It's a banger that I like a bit better than female. Both are great. But with the auto-tune. Leaving a hard but chill mood keeps me cooler. And if any of y'all played Pt. Ult. Just because you fused.... that don't mean shit. You still got fucking chimeras like the C3 proto legion slapping you for fucking 700+ damage. I need the hype but the cool so I make all of the right choices and don't waste fusion. For my play style it's more about the healing if I'm in a situation too critical, I play berserk legions but, I can't be too careless

I think I like the female version more just bc of how bombastic her vocals are and it feels more like an epic anime opening but I also love this one bc it sounds straight out of the 2000s and/or a Sonic game
1st time hearing both: Female Version is better 5th time hearing both: Male version has a certain feel to it that makes me feel like it's better, think the autotune blends well the the electronic instruments
Why do people despise this and get into fights over it? It's epic. Just because it doesn't sound like female version, doesn't mean anything. If anything, the voice portrays sadness in this one. which is perfect.
Perhaps because most people played as the waifu so this one sounds kind of foreign and off to them. Kind of like if halfway through a series you switch from dubs to subs then whichever one you didn't start with will sound off.
To be honest I prefer the male version when I'm just listening to it, but the female version when I'm actually playing the game. This one is a little mellow, the other is pure adrenaline.

I don't know if I hate or like this. It's awesome and I like the change of tone and it's way easier to understand what they're saying, but it sounds like a robot instead of a person.
Female version IMO has better energy, but the male version's harmonies are waaaaay better and more interesting as far as cadences are concerned. That said, I vastly prefer the female version's syncopation on the refrain. Gonna have to give this to the female version.
Metal gear rising revengeance did it well with vocals but games like bayo work well with just instrumental songs for their bosses, so I'm glad the game just went similar to bayo and such with good instruments and choirs

the actual musical composition is deff much better in this song compared to the other version. the female version deff has the better singer though kinda wish we could get a dual mix so i can have both good singers and good music.

@@Ed-1749 yeah that's my usual formation when I was completing the missions. Use blue shield, have axe hit rush, use that thime to pop speed star and roundablade, and them spam spinning attacks. It works extremely well for dealing with anything up to C5 hordes.
