The reason Jason decided to smoke a cigar at the dinner was he had to do something he would never do im a very public way which would get him arrested. When it comes to the episode I thought this was the best episode of the season and I was at the edge of my seat.

The book explains why the cigar was so random. Basically our jason was trying to think of something so unlike himself because he realised the other jasons think just like him, so he had to be completely random otherwise he would end up doing the same thing as another jason.

The cigar thing has to be random. It can’t be coming from Jason’s mind because then every Jason would think of it. So it only happens because he saw the matches and got that idea in the moment.

I can't believe you found this episode disappointing and only gave it a 7.2? I thought this was an amazing episode and the best of the season so far. Great acting, great tension and lots of surprises. I've read the book and this show hasn't disappointed one bit. I can't wait for the finale!

Just finished episode 8. In the book, we have no perspective of Danella is going through - and when they finally meet at the police station, it doesn’t feel real, because they have a detailed conversation where he tells her everything. I’m reading the book, and she’s so acceptant of what he saying, but in reality the TV version took us on a journey from both Jason1 and her the entire time. So, she needed the closure to understand what’s in the storage unit, none of this happens in the book. She’s like ‘he built a larger version of your model’ no one would ask that after you’ve been body snatched for a month.

And I feel like the only solution is for them to find a world like the one Amanda is in where they can get away. With the investigation and infinite Jason’s showing up, it’d be impossible to stay

This episode is all about the tension. All the Jasons. Jason2 attempting to evade all of the other Jasons coming after him. This is Frankenstein's monsters coming after their creator--Jason2. Regarding the ending/final episode: I predict that all of the drugs in the storage locker will be used to send the numerous Jasons back into the box to explore and find a world (like Amanda did) where each of them choses to stay. Also, Jason2 should definitely die. He's killed a lot of people, and shouldn't be allowed to survive. BUT, if the show goes for a "dark" ending, they could have Jason2 escape into the box with his bag of approximately 50+ doses of the drug--and continuing to travel from world to world, wrecking havoc everywhere. It will be interesting to see what the writers choose to do.

I do not think Amanda need to come back...she has new life, why leave it...none of the Jasons actually loved her, best for her is to move on...and why not move on on very good version of Earth, clean energy, peace, she has money, opportunities in life...I would stay if I was her ..but maybe she will met someone who will need those 2 doses for the trip and she could give them to them..who knows, but for her is best to stay away from this mess and live her life.

Mind blowing episode!! Now we don’t know if the real Jason is Jupiter Jason. This is crazy. So many Jason’s. We will find out next week.

This was one of the best episodes in terms of horror vibes. Also Daniela wasn't in shock and believe him thanks to every clue she has been found a this point so, he was a convincent even for us the viewers who identify whit Daniela.... The classic -running away from my husband because he's evil- Scene, very well done

I have a feeling one of them or maybe the original Jason may end up with Amanda from the world she stayed in...and one of the other Jason (don't know which one) will end up with the family...a win win....this would be a real twist lol

The funniest part of the "cigar thing" was him asking the arresting officer how "SHE" got to be a cop?

I felt like I didn’t take a single breath for the final 5-10 minutes. I do hope they do another season because they have sooo many places to go from here

Daniela needed all the clues to know that something fishy about Jason but not in a million years she could have figured out what was really happening. Think about it: other realities? Other Jasons? It's too crazy, but now that she's been told, she can realistically believe it, having all the pieces together.

why people think cigar jason is our jason. there is literally too many jasons that have the same story and events. now it is too late to know which one is our jason.

Best episode in the season for sure. My only thing is this... How does Daniella know that the Jason she bailed out is the right Jason? Especially when theirs a bunch of other forms out there. Hopefully next week we get more information and I would totally be all for a Season 2.

He wasn’t though. He just happened to think outside the box and found a way to have a face to face conversation with Daniela. The Jason he sits with at the bar made it in the night before (I think). Not to mention-what about the Jason who Jason 2 murders by the trash bin? He made it even sooner.

Thank you for this episode recap! Great to hear your impression on it. I thought the scene where Daniela finds all the evidence in the storage locker was valid in the sequence. Because she may not have been convinced enough when bailing our Jason out of jail... she has solid proof now... That's just my opinion. I didn't think it was a wasted scene. Looking forward to seeing how the many loose ends might be resolved as you say

Bruh brilliant how there was so many versions of Jason, I was thinking last week how would things happen if there were same version dealing with this guy and then they threw in all this multi Jason stuff….im glad it was addressed

this episode was rushed way too much put into a single episode.

The problem is they are the first Jason and only one will get his life back. B4 the other Jason’s had there own world this world belongs to all the Jasons

I really liked this crazy, chaotic episode. Sometimes entertainment just calls for unapologetic suspension of disbelief.

7 episodes this show felt like it had a story to tell with a clear defined goal in mind. after episode 8 I find myself very much bored that the conclusion of it all seems to be just another reminder that 42 is still the best we got.

In exchange for the shock twist, we have to make the leap between "There's a unique Jason in infinite universes" (which would mean they'd have to be deluded to navigate to an alien world they think is the home the got kidnapped away from) to "Our kidnapped Jason was spawning a new Jason at each decision he made" which allows for all of the new Jason's to logically want to return to this same Chicago. As far as I understand it, the revelation requires for more to be happening than what we've been shown.

I am trying to understand the theoretical physics behind the spawning of multiple Jason #1s. They can't all belong to the same reality because that would violate the laws of physics pertaining to the conservation of energy which says energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transferred. Therefore all matter and energy is constant in a universe. Therefore there can't be multiple copies of Jason 1 that all belong to the same universe. I realize trying to apply physics to this story though is ridiculous...lol.

I get the why didn't he just call her but didn't he have to call her from jail anyway?

How Danielle can be certain Jason 1 is the original one? Since all the other variations now is the same person.

The fact Amanda have two ampules doesn't mean she have to use it. She is in a better world and I don't think Amanda is gonna find this Prime Earth. But Ryan prime is possible he is the only thing to resolve but if he likes more Utopian World Ryan is gonna stay there (I would) hahaha I wish for another original season with focus in others Jasons traveling to the multiverse or maybe this Jason and his family traveling will be awesome.

I have really digging this show and have been all in. Episode 8 really went into a direction that surprised and confused me a lot. Still enjoying it even though I thought I would like this episode more.

What a bullshit ending. Yeah he got home but there are a bunch of different Jasons and they just left that dangling.

I'm over this show, I'll be fine if it ends next episode, I don't need a season 2, they played it out, it's done, fix what you can and close the BOX again. Apple will probably milk it if it's got good numbers for them, I'm ready for severance season 2 to start.

I disagree with you that she didn't figure it out. At the poilice station she says something like "I am done listening to your lies" or something like that.

But, is this Our Jason's Daniela?

The only Jason’s that matter are Jason #1 and # 2 Jason all the others are not important so stop trying to count them all.

Isn't the Jason that crashed the car with her and her son just as much the real Jason as the one she bailed out of prison? That part I didn't understand.

The worst episode so far

I feel like the clues were the base for her believing him when he told her the wild story.

I didn't even notice that the Jason smoking the cigar was the original.

I think they will live in Amanda’s world and Jason will bring a Jason for her

I think maybe Jason wasn't that emotionally overcome when he was finally reunited with Daniela because he is a man on the very edge of despair having looked into infinity. He's already realized that whatever he does, it's totally futile; that he'll never ever recover what he's lost. He's come face-to-face with the utter and absolute absurdity of the concept of the "self" and the "individual" in the quantum Many-Worlds universe, a reality utterly indifferent and cold to our totally misplaced sense of uniqueness that grounds our lives in meaning and significance and given he's now dealing with who knows how many versions of himself, all equally authentic as he is, the best he can do is try to keep Daniela and Charlie safe from whatever's coming, and whatever that is, ,just the existential and ontological implications, never mind the actual events to follow are all going to be very, very bad. I'm actually surprised he hasn't had a complete mental breakdown already. This guy has literally stared into the abyss and the abyss has stared right back at him.

With the mess of a situation that Jayson 2 has left behind, I can’t see a reality (no pun intended) in which they would want to stay in their current world. He killed, himself but a person nonetheless on a college campus, Ryan is missing, but last scene with evil Jayson who is in a basement. If I was them, why not Jayson 1, Danielle, and Charlie -leave, and just hope they don’t/or do open the door to the version of Chicago, where Amanda, and Ryan 1 are and leave Jayson 2 to be arrested, and jailed as we saw with 1 of the versions of that life. But the detective is gonna pin him or 1 of the many versions of him, with something.

What you said around 7:10 regarding Dark Matter Season 1 Episode 8 being ‘towards the end of the book’ is an important point. I think Jason1, Daniella1, and Charlie1 are heading to the world where Amanda1 chose to reside.

This likely wasn't' Jennifer Connolly's fault (it was likely the director), but I really hated her response/reaction or lack thereof once everything is revealed to her in the episode. When she goes along with the Jupitor code word thing, she's essentially believing her Jason's story... but when all said is done and they're saved for the time being... she doesn't embrace or show any emotion towards the real Jason... it just felt weird and out of place. One might make the argument that the whole thing would be so bizarre, to where she wouldn't know how to react, but as I said... when she went along with the whole Jupiter code word (combined with her prior suspicions that something was very different about Jason) she had already trusted this as being her Jason... so she trusts that it is her Jason, but not enough to have any emotions towards him... she instead goes full blown stink eye on him? I would think that she would also realize that she hadn't seen Jason since that one night and want to embrace him as well, but her reaction felt weird to me.

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! You guys are ALL MISSING THE JUICY STUFF!!!! Next week will end the show (no season 2).. Steve would give a score higher than 7.2 if he knew what I knew!!!! LISTEN GUYS!!!! I didn't necessarily find this episode disappointing as far as action and story goes....but I felt like I needed confirmation that she was meeting the actual Jason #1 at the end. Like he needed to say something that only they knew. You know? I feel so much anxiety thinking that I'm going to have to wait now. 😢

Well, it's good that she's knows about the storage unit because now she knows where more ampules are in case they need to escape to another world. How do we know that Jupiter is the real Jason? That's where I'm confused. The only way to confirm would be to ask about the "special tree" in the backyard for their deceased son. Wouldn't it be horrible if he also wasn't the real Jason?

I wonder if the multiple Jason1's are an unforeseen consequence of box travel. Jason2 decided to seal the box when he learnt Jason, Amanda2 and Leighton2 entered the box. I do not feel he was prepared for the possibility that multiple versions of the same Jason could be coming after him.

Ok I liked the series when there was two Jason’s but now we have multiple Jason 1s I can see the dilemma of which Jason his old family to pick. I feel like it’s a watering down of the story and for me it would have been more rewarding if it was clear for the main Jason 1 would have a rewarding resolve and I can’t see a happy ending for the family in this world

Well if Daniela and Jason 1 reenter the box. Other versions of Daniela x and Jason x would also enter the box. In the end there would be a world where multiple Daniela x and Jason x end up.

This show always feels cold and distant. Don't know why I found it hard to relate to any of the characters

im guessing its gonna be straight chaos, those jasons are pretty in love with daniella.. the only way i can see a happy ending is by Daniella talking to the other jasons and shows them disapproval

In the last scene Jason 1 was not even wearing his elastic ‘wedding band’ when he was hugging Charlie. I don’t think it was him.
