@Bavs That would be the biggest discount they've ever given on a new book. 50% has usually been the most. Which is still way too expensive for that many pages.
Would love for you to do a comprehensive reading order from Dark Knights Metal to Death Metal its really interesting story I wanna hop into just a little confused as to how everything connects and how to own it physically
I know people are frustrated at the cost of this book but I just got my copy and I can see why it’s so expensive. The paper quality and especially the ink quality is superb! I compared it to my most recent Marvel Omni (Venom by Cate) and the Venom book is positively weedy by comparison. I know Marvel has been holding the line on price, but I think paper and especially ink quality at Marvel is being reduced to keep that price point. You get the story either way, but honestly I’d rather pay a bit extra and have a more premium book. (Plus it’s not like we are all paying retail for these things).
Have no clue on best way to sell comics, but wish I could easily trade my complete collection of 1st prints of this series for this omnibus. I stopped collecting individual issues and would much prefer just one single omni. Thanks for the overview!
Yeah I was pissed off lol I was like damn it, it would come out on a Tuesday, I don't get my check till Friday and they fixed it already 😤 oh well my stupid ass will still pay for it lol
I struggle with the Batman who laughs word balloons. The red on black really hurts my eyes. Just received my Miller/Janson Daredevil omni & Millers intro is black on red which is also hard on the eyes 🤣
It’s overpriced 😢 150 for 800 pages what it’s wrong with DC, you mean omnis as big as Blackest night, Flashpoint, Flash by Mark Waid are in the same line with this edition? It’s an abuse 😖😖😖
TBH this omni is expensive but honestly costs are going up everywhere which is why is priced at that. Expect dearer books going forward. Kinda why I'm happy to stick with my OHC or the main event and trades/hardcover for the rest.🙂
I've never read any of this stuff, and I've heard the follow-up isn't so great, but I'm tempted to buy this just based on your review. You could sell salt to a slug, Omar.
I read a lot of comics and I hated this crazy silly story. It’s just too much. Probably one of the worst things I’ve read in the last few years or when ever it was.
I agree with Carlos, this one is worth getting the omnibus. I will probably buy an omnibus of Death Metal, it’s sequel, if it’s made, but that one wasn’t nearly as good.
Omnis on instock trades have all skyrocketed in price. Such a shame seeing all my sought after books now comfortably above 70 dollars instead of the 62.50 dollar prices I already was uncomfortable paying. Looks like there will be no omni purchases from me for quite some time even if I do have the cash. Just can’t justify paying that much as if it’s the new norm.
Plus the fact that before 2019 they didn't charge taxes, at least for many States. I'm still excited about certain books but definitely avoiding anything that costs over $125, unless they get 60-70% off discounts. Which of course ain't happening much at all.
@@lxlwilliamlxl on sale @ in stock trades for under $70. For some reason they’ve got it listed as if it’s cover price is $125. Should’ve been $100 cover price, IMO
The blanket $150 price that DC is giving their two most recent omnis is…concerning. That combined with the fact that they’re not releasing anything this year that we know of just gives off a bad vibe.
My copy arrived yesterday - love it. Really hope DC follows through with an omni for Death Metal ( with tie-ins ). The Absolutes look amazing but are missing critical material, in my opinion.
I used to live in the same town as Scott Snyder in Belle Terre, Long Island before I moved last year, seen him many times getting coffee, food shopping etc, he was always friendly!!
@@turtleanton6539 Those can be purchased for 35 bucks or much less and the stories are quite intriguing. Most DC or Marvel events are extremely mediocre in comparison. Like this one + Death Metal.
I’m still trying to figure out if I’m going to buy this cause I was out of comics when this stuff was being published and I’m not sure if I’m going to enjoyed it? so maybe a buy maybe not ?
@@anthonyufert8477 hi, I know, but since I'm in another country, the shipping takes the complete saving and at the end, it's the same price that getting one from here (in a couple of months ofc) :( jaja
Awesome overview, Omar. Man it absolutely kills me when they do not put any indication of what the issues are as you are turning the pages of the book. I don't like to have to sit there and guess the numbers or the titles of the freaking issues I'm reading.
@@ComicCrossing I don't really like that, I want to know what series the issues were a part of and what issue numbers they are. Whenever I read any omnibus or any collection of any comics I'm always cognizant that they were single issues first and I want to know about those.
Hello 👋 I would like to ask you if you know anything about the late Premiere Editions. I have bought some of these lately, and was wondering if that Label actually meant something. Paper quality for exemple ? Compared to normal HCs. Also to my knowledge the Ultimatum Oversized HC is the only one I have ever seen with the Premiere Edition Label, why ?! And finally do you know why some of those Premiere HCs had a Gold Spine instead of the classic Red or White, any reason for that ? Thanks in advance, I know these are weird questions ;-) I’m curious, cheers. JC
That was just what the line was called for the standard Hardcovers with glossy paper. And there were variants of some of the premiere line so different colors.
Hey Omar - Save for Batman, what other New 52 series would you recommend? It is an era I pretty much skipped and only came back to DC post rebirth. But given your recommendation of going back to Snyder’s Batman run, I wondered if there might be others gems out there. Great video as always.
Thank you brother! There are some great N52 titles out there like Gotham Academy, Grayson (which I’ll be doing an overview of), Prez, Wonder Woman, The Omega Men, Swampthing, Aquaman and I vampire just to name a few. This is such a good question I could make a video out of.
My favorite new 52 series is I, vampire for sure it's amazing. But I love new 52 everyone hates it but I enjoy it. Aquaman is great, wonder woman is great, also look for "Frankenstein agent of S.H.A.D.E." it's so overlooked but it's damn fun.
@@brandon17760 I actually liked the cross over between I Vampire and Justice league dark. Also check out the Demon Knight’s series with Etrigan the demon. It also has the main character from I Vampire in the series. The only bad news is that it will be hard to track down a physical copy but the books are available on kindle and comixology digitally.
The Superman omnibus by Tomasi also had a variant cover, the one you own 28:00 Or, they have the numbers on a different layer in their ID, and the intern didn't realise it until the book was printed when his supervisor came in and chewed him a new one.
In Italy we got this omni 2 years ago, and the Death metal omni should be released this February. Publisher is Panini here. The only difference Is that here they are called Batman Metal and Batman death metal, because the Batman name on it helps sales I guess 😅
Here in Mexico, back in the 80s, almost all non Batman DC comics where called "Batman Presents", like "Batman Presenta: Linterna Verde" with a big Batman logo. The editorial that published Marvel at that time did the same thing with Spider-man.
You need to have a lot of context to get the most out of it, but there's also a lot of exposition in case you are not an expert. The stuff from Morrison's Batman, Final Crisis and Snyder's Batman is fully explained in the story.
Killer overview as usual Omar ! Can't for this to arrive ! Such a fun event ! No page numbers ?! I'll cry later about that. I'm just glad this book is FINALLY here !
Other than Price is anyone else PO’d that is was solicited as the Black And Grey cover and then it comes out with color, or is that just me? Had I know would have been that would’ve ordered the other cover. Absolutely PO’d about it
This one is on order 💪😁. Brother I did a check between the soft cover and hard covers according to the page count theres about 60 pages that where taken out if the numbers are right. And where would this fall in reading order? Would it be after the Synder omnibus vol 1?
I guess it's the reprints of Final Crisis, the Return of Bruce Wayne and Endgame, which where included in the Road to Metal TP/HC (not really needed.) You should read this after Batman by Snyder Omnibus vol 2.
Considering the company putting this book together I’m thankful that the only glaring problem is missing page numbers. It’s definitely sloppy work but I’ve seen worse from DC lol.
This was my introduction to comics, kinda. This is where my DC starts, even though I have read and continue to read older stuff. For me, this was the start. This was the first Event that I read to get into the super hero world. I didn't keep up with a lot because I just wasn't feeling it. This event made me love reading comics and I will always hold it dearly. I am so tempted to pick this up but am holding off. I own 2 or 3 of the TPB editions. Why am I here? This is going to tempt me even more lmao
Nice book. I wish DC would keep producing new omnibus editions. I like the new Dawn of the DC initiative. A lot of solid monthly comics are coming from dc in 2023. :)
Personally I still consider it the rebirth era, in part because I didn't care for the Metal event (the Dark Multiverse is a cool idea, but the story just didn't work for me) and ignoring it doesn't really affect anything.
I've not read this but would like to. However it does seem like one of those that goes off in all different directions. Can't say I was too sure what to read until I saw the intro page here. It is it worth the time and are the issues involving other creators outside the core series any good?
I’m glad DC has started doing Direct Market Alt covers, but the regular cover is almost always better. I want to support the DM cover so they keep doing it, but I just can’t.
@@JennySparkz Yep, this is the example I was thinking about when I said “almost” 😂 Unfortunately, I didn’t know Flash was getting a DM cover, so I ended up preordering the regular one 🙁
TRULY AWESOME!!! I only purchased the Casting one shot a long time ago. I was always hoping that an omnibus who be done about these issues and tie-ins and variant covers. Today is the day! I will order this from the direct market. Thanks Omar for your fantastic overview!
This event rocks. My plan this year is to read his Batman, All Star, Whole of Metal, JL, BWL,Batman/Superman and Death Metal.it's a lot of books but the Snyder is my favourite writer.😎 Hope you can get Scott on the channel for a interview at some point.👍
The pre read suggestion for this were all crisis events and Scott's Batman run. I dont think I will ever be able to do that. Next we need is cheat sheets 😜
@@NearMintCondition 100%. Another idea that i think will help ia star wars omni reading order . I have 11 omnis but always confused what's the right order
