Jason McGuire had just been thrown out of the Collins household after his efforts to blackmail and marry Liz Stoddard finally failed. He goes back to the old house, where Barnabas Collins and his caretaker Willie Loomis reside in the hopes he can grab some jewels before leaving Collinwood. Willie gives Jason a few jewels, but it's not enough for him. Willie strongly advises Jason to leave the old house but Jason won't listen. Jason feels a fortune worth of jewels are hidden in Barnabas' coffin.
It's dusk and time for Barnabas to rise from his coffin. Jason opens up the coffin at the very worst time for him, as Barnabas strangles him to death.
Jason's death at the hands of Barnabas happened on Episode 275 of Dark Shadows, which ran on ABC from late June 1966-early April 1971.

In a possible Dark Shadows series resumption, I'm hoping for events like Adam being brought back to the show and marrying Carolyn, and Vickie being returned from 1797, along with Daphne coming on board from 1840 and being a second live in tutor with Vickie at the Collins household.
