DARK SHADOWS Original TV Soundtrack LP Jonathan Frid-David Selby Narrate STEREO RE-MIX Using the original mono music cues, I did simple stereo mixes and dropped in the narration from the original album. Enjoy! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
I have an original vinyl record of this album and I pull it out every Halloween and give my friends a treat. Those were the days man….. Those were the days.📺
Yes I’m one of them, ran home from elementary school to catch the last fifteen minutes. Hated missing, recently just finished watching all the episodes from the very beginning to the end totally amazing.
The music at 7:06 always got to me. You knew something bad was going to happen. We would run off the school bus to get to the TV and watch Dark Shadows. So many memories. It amazes me how music can do this.
I remember watching the series (re-runs) on an old black and wihite TV tuned to "WNEM, Channel 5, Bay City, Saginaw, Flint" (in Michigan). GREAT memories!!!!!
I loved it sp much this episodes, l never missed any episode, l was about 12 years old when l started watchin, now days looks very fade.My name is Fausto Quijano Escalante,Salvadoreno..
Putting the FULL-LENGTH"Back at the Blue Whale" (MINUS the OVERDUBBED Tambourine & Organ) ! Direct from the COMPLETE DARK SHADOWS Music Cue Collection CD Box Set (Which I have SIGNED by Robert Cobert) PRICELESS ! A STELLAR JOB of REMASTERING !
Thanks for putting this music together for us to enjoy! My favorite is Josette's theme! The person who read "When I Am Dead" sounded so sad! Was that Barnabas? I'm not sure what he sounds like as I've not seen much of the show. Shadows of The Night was really beautiful, yet sad, too! Such sad music! TFS! ~Janet in Canada
Wow! I can definitely hear a more beautiful, enchanting version of "I'll be with you always", by the handsome Jonathan Frid. I wish I could find this full album. I have the 8 track tape and original LP with the poster. I enjoyed this very much! 😊 thank you for sharing this. ❤
Thank You EVER So Much for RESTORING the "Original Music from abc-TV's DARK SHADOWS" ! Even Though My Friend Bill Inglot REMASTERED the PHILIPS Album, The Tracks were NOT in 3-Track Stereo (as Bob Cobert Recorded Them in England).
Ever since I was a kid (and watching the original broadcasts!) I have wished and hoped for a good stereo reissue-remaster of the original DS tracks. I bought the Phillips Remaster CD, which got rid of the clicks/pops of my worn out vinyl copy. I also have the complete DS Cd collection with all the cues recorded, but in mono. This is a delight!! It's also wonderful to hear, as otherwise mentioned, a complete recording of Blue Whale source cues! I am much in your debt for fulfilling one of my longest wishes! I wonder if you might be interested in a more obscure, tangential project. Besides DS, I am also a fan of Buster Keaton. One of the very last films he made (and in color!) was a 16mm Kodak promo film for their new Instamatic Cameras. A film collector friend of mine was able to find only one fairly beat-up print, with bad optical sound pops, jutters, splices, and badly faded color. I'm a retired film/sound editor, and along with my friend SFX wizard Greg Kimble we were able to do a pretty good restoration (scratch and splice removal, greater color fidelity, infinitely steadier picture) and I was able to do click and pop removal on the track. I did try a VERY rudimental stereo mix--but I don't have the same technology/software you so beautifully used in the DS soundtracks. I haven't posted the cleaned up version on RU-vid yet....Might you be interested in taking a whack at this 21 minute rare (and historic) record of Buster Keaton's genius? The is very little narration, and it's almost exclusively a music track (clearly composed for the film that covers all the musical genres of the ages from the birth of photography to the Instamatic era)? Here's a link to the original un-restored version? I've always wanted to hear this score in stereo! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1NXwyG8ZLkY.html
Right now I'm still working full time. Maybe something I could work on when I retire and have more time on my hands. It looks like a fun project. Thanks for listening btw!
This sounds reeeaaallly good. There was a small company that put out a series of Dark Shadows CDs about 30 years ago. Fine discs they were, but their reissue of the original soundtrack album was nothing more than a bad "needle drop" of a rank condition copy of the old record. This is quite an emprovement.
My grandmother hinted heavily to me that this wasn't a completely fictional story. But what did she know. Kitty O'Collins from Liverpool by way of Dublin. 1883- 1980.
Plus, I totally cursed.and so was she, my mother and now my daughter whom was born on my mother's 70th birthday and my dad was.from.MaineMother - Miami Beach. Collins Road.... OY VEY
As an older adult (62) I appreciate this soundtrack much more than when my parents gave it to me for my 11th(?) birthday. The poetry/readings by Mr. Frid I love now and mesh brilliantly with Mr. Cobert's music. Back then, I wanted monsters and scary music. Now, I understand the album really is geared toward adults and explains quite well what the show is about: our own mortality and our desire for love. And that I think, is reflected in most of the storylines: characters who more than anything wanted to live normal lives, to give love and be loved.
After Listening to the COMPLETE 36:52 I GIVE YOU 10 STARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - "Brent the Gent" ( The "Long-Forgotten Musicologist) and "Nicholas Blair Jr" (As KNOWN by ALL the DARK SHADOWS (Surviving) Cast Members and FESTIVAL Attendees sinc 1983.
