Dark Souls 3 Review 

I'll admit it, I'm a Souls fanboy. That said, the 9.5 score has nothing to do with what I'm about to say: IGN should give Chloi Rad a RAISE. This is the kind of review I USED to expect from IGN. The fact that she went SO in depth with describing how the weapons and combat worked impressed me immensely. The only thing that would have impressed me more would have been delving into magic/miracles. Well done, Chloi. If IGN executive staff have half a mind, we'll be hearing from you A LOT MORE.

I summoned a mad phantom with the intention of dueling him, but instead he sat down and offered to toast with me. We continued on throughout Undead Settlement together despite my wariness of him and he helped me take out all the mobs in the surrounding area. After a while, I became accustomed to fighting alongside my newfound friend and started turning my back to him knowing full well that he would protect me to his last, dying breath. We were a team. The best of friends, and nothing could stand in our way. He may not have been a Warrior of Sunlight, but Solaire's legacy thrived on within him. Jolly co-operation resumed until we neared the Curse-Rotted Greatwood... And it was then that I decided to take yet another chance and summon a second Mound-Maker to see if we could rally him to our side. The plan seemed successful at first. But it wasn't long before I noticed some suspicious patterns in the phantom's movement, and his interest in my backside became a significant concern. My anxiety was proven justified when the phantom took a swing at me with his greatsword and missed. My loyal protector raised both his hand and his middle finger at the attacker, before charging forward with fury the likes of which none in Lothric had seen. He made it his personal duty to end the traitorous life of the one who would dare attempt to strike at me, and before long the violent fool was fleeing from our jolly wrath. He rushed up a ladder and leaped across rooftops before finally dropping a harmful distance to the ground, giving us an opening to attack. My companion launched himself from the rafters and his flowing cape waved majestically in the air as he readied his sword and plunged towards the infidel who would dare spit on the tenets of co-operation and sunlight. The valiant protector lunged his sword deep through the attacker's back before he could escape, the weapon grinding through bone and flesh and rendering him a lifeless husk. I dropped down following this, and we waved and spun our capes at one another in excitement and victorious glee. But this was the end of our time together. We gave each other one final wave before my friend's body started to fade away as he was whisked back to his own dimension. It hit me I'd never see him again.

this game is so solid ,I died during character creation.

I've never played a Dark Souls game before and the rumors about the series' difficulty is frightening lol - I plan on picking this up, does anyone have any tips for a Noobie?

Framerate dips is the only con for a 9.5? Ok so it's 10 basically, got it.

Never played a Dark Souls game before and started DS 3 last night. I lost count of how many times the first boss killed me but I persevered and finally beat him. I'm hooked.

from software just knows how to create masterpieces

Dark Souls is like a game of life. You got kicked out from your home and about to face the world for the first time. No direction on where to go, no money and a very few friends. It's a damn cruel world but you bravely fight through it, only to fail and start from the beginning over and over again. You become unhappy and frustrated. Then you asked yourself, is it worth my suffering? With a little strength you have left, you get yourself up. What's more to lose anyway? So you continue but you are now wiser than before. Everyday is like a battlefield and there's no easy road. Countless of failures but you keep your spirit high. Until one day you have completed your journey. Only to realized that all the hardship you have experienced made you into a warrior. And that the true happiness is not by completing the game itself but by overcoming all the adversities you have encountered in your journey.

Game of the year for me. So much fun, so beautiful, so fluid.

I was afraid that by going hollow in this game I would be reduced to half health again. Thank God FromSoft scrapped that mechanic...

The reviewer should be commended. A hardcore game reviewed my a hardcore gamer. As you see in the video, she plays by its rules, trying out different play styles, and going in depth with each of the systems. Well done.

I honestly hate IGN for their biased reviews, cocky reviewers and just reviewers who seem like they know nothing about what they are reviewing. But this girl is awesome, I honestly like her! I would gladly watch more reviews with her in the chair talking. That's just me though.

DS3 has the best boss fights of the entire serie.

This is my first game in the souls series and I'm amazed how hooked I got on it. After 72 hours of game time I finally finished the game (some boss fights took hours to learn, literally) and like a roller coaster ride, I'm ready to hop on it again, but I'm not sure if I wanna go NG+ or roll an alt. It seems that if you get your character high enough you can just dive headfirst into a different build as opposed to rolling alts via Diablo 3

Dark Souls is not about difficulty. It is about a story and clever Level Design. You said it is better than DS3, i will see to that.

This games combat is satisfying when you start to learn the mechanics and can survive multiple battles

My first time trying an rpg game and this was recommended to me. Iudex sent me flying over countless times and i never forget the chills it has given me with every step i take as i progress through the game. So scary and thrilling and every boss kills is rewarding. And my favorite part of this game are the weapon arts. So coooool

Does anybody else find this weird? Demon Souls 9/10 - IGN Dark Souls 9/10 - IGN Dark Souls 2 9/10 - IGN Dark Souls 3 9/10 - IGN I hate how they rated Fallout 3 10/10, yet they rated Skyrim a 9/10. SAME WITH OBLIVION.

only recently bought this as I was playing something else, I've played DS2 so really wanted this too and I can say the frame rate dips are not there anymore, and this is playing on high with a lowly GTX 950 & AMD FX 6300, I'm just over 190 hours in doing 3 play throughs at a zone each and have got all 3 just past the boreal dancer so far. The game is beautiful, you will be leaving "Praise the sun" messages all over the place (and praise the moon ;) ) when you see new areas. With my crappy cheap PC even on high I get steady smooth frame rates of mostly 60 FPS dropping to no lower than 50 with no stutter. More games should;d be like this.

Dark souls made me choose hard mode in other games

Whats this? a review from IGN from someone thats actually played the game in-depth from start to finish and has played all previous titles? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!!!!

Here I am, a year later, and after all the DLCs that were released, return here to say that this game deserves at least 10/10, and It's the best and most epic game in the series, and one of the best games i've ever played (I've been gaming since 1997).

what do you think the next settings should be if from soft decides to make another souls like game. my personnal top 5 are: greek mythology would be nice. you know like god of war but with the souls combat system. norse mythology hell based like diablo. world of warcraft type japanese mythology i would like to here other thoughts and let us hope miyazaki reads one of our comments xD

for someone who's pretty knew to the serious I played like 1 hour of darks souls 1 but kept dieing so I gave up. but I've been playing bloodbourne lately and am actually enjoying it so I thought I'd give this a go. what's tips would you give me for this game?

ok, the weapon arts look so good , the combat looks fun i think i'm going to try this game out , since i was a fan of the first dark souls, but never bothered to play 2 and bloodborn

so, i have the game. bought in on disc in a store[ps4]. dont ask me how. but the only fps dips i noticed so far, is a small nearly unnoticable skip, and not even at critical moments at all. it happens when im walking around. or rolling through the swam. but i dont really notice it during combat

moving on from skyrim. i have bloodborne and ds 3. which to play first?

I have a few questions regarding the NPC invaders. Will the hostile NPCs invade again if they kill the player, is there any point (such as a specific boss defeated or area accessed) to which the NPCs will no longer invade, and is there any way the player can trigger the invasions? I appreciate all the help. Thank you.

One big thing that draws to this game is the enemy combat, they actually attack you like if they were in a fight and not wait after being hit ten times to-which more games need to start doing and one thing that pulls me away is a lack of map not a fan of that

I've never played Dark Souls, but next paycheck I am going to play it. An old roommate of mine played it and I always heard him screaming/cursing at the game, yet, he continued to play it. Haha.

At this time, I'm not even suprised when I see "You Died"
