This video shows you how to get all the crystal lizards in The Great Hollow. Without dying. If the lizard does not appear or if you miss it, then quit and reload, it will make them appear again. Beware of the basilisks though.
Not the first time I've used this video, and probably not the last 😅 Thank you for your *jolly* *cooperation!* Anybody that hit the dislike button must have been blinded by the brilliance of this video *(and my summoning sign).*
Thanks bro, literally got 2 slabs because of you. What really threw me off, was how i had to reload the game multiple times because some wouldn't spawn. At least in the Remaster.
Thank you, so much. They kept randomly disappearing and I couldn't figure out where they'd been. I never would have figured out where a ton of them were without you.
Hahaha! Only started playing DS now and I've come through this part just caching two of them by learning the jumps through dying or using homeward bone. It was clear this is a twinkling titanite farming spot but for the life of me couldn't figure out how was I supposed to get them if they disappear before I could realistically get to them. I would have never figured it out you could overcome this by reloading your game to force a lizard respawn with you remaining at the same position. Clearly DS1 is a masterpiece, but if I would have to pick a flaw is this constant struggle between immersion and it's own systems. This is a perfect example of such a case, the only way to get the lizards in Great Hollow being by using an exploit basically smh. Thanks for the vid mate!
whoever designed this area and thought it was ok that you have to quit reload the game just to make the lizards reappear (when they feel like...) should have been fired from fromsoft... the same guy probably was responsible for the co-op areas in ds2 and the lava sections in ds3... thanks for the guide, I was going crazy trying to get the stupid lizards.
They gave you a much better chance to optimize your equipment fast. Or did you expect them to make it easy for you? I would complain more about Siegmeyer's quest and those damn Chaos Eaters than this. Also I don't think they intended for quit and reloading. They probably wanted you to hunt them down and find ways to ambush each of them. There's a lot of ways you can kill each of them without quit and reload. You have two Bonfires and a lot of pathways to get to each Crystal Lizard undetected. Sure you'll die a lot and take a long amount of time, but that is Dark Souls for you.
@@hail2jigglypuff168 the problem is that without the ring of fog for example, some lizards will spot you immediately, even when you're far away and will start running away before you had a chance to get to them or even notice them. Also, if quit reloading was not intender, then they would have make it like ds2, where quit reloading does not reset enemy positions nor it respawns the lizards. Also, keep in mind that the great hollow has some terrible collision boxes that will make your character slide off the branches or get stuck on the terrain or worst... not letting your character through because 1 small branch on top touches your character's head... where in other parts of the game you can break the same looking branches by rolling. Also, as far as I know, there is only 1 bonfire at the top of the great hollow and the other bonfire is in ash lake, which it's useless... Point is, that the area, just like Ash Lake, Demon Ruins and other part of the game is probably unfinished and not well refined due to time constraints/budget. Siegmeyer's quest is easy in comparison, you can just get a bow, kill 3 of the 4 chaos eaters and the one that is "hidden to the right" and then attack the fourth one until you leave it at very low health so Siegmeyer can finish it off in one hit. He can't get poisoned if you gave him the poison moss in blight town.
@@WortsUsernameEver The Bonfire in Ash Lake helps kill the Lizards near the bottom before they can spot you and also the ones near the very top. I got a few easy kills just by walking from the Ash Lake to Blightown, they just don't see you coming. Remember it's hunting, you don't just sprint towards them and expect them to take it, you have to be stealthy with your approach, then dash them. Slumbering Dragoncrest helps too for sneaking up on them. There are areas where you can drop down nearby and dash to them before they can disappear. You can also always use a Crossbow on any build to kill them before they escape or snipe them from a distance with Bows. They wouldn't have made it like DS 2 if it was truly unintended. They wouldn't have thought players could use that to kill them in the first place. I think it was intended mainly for Snuggly trade. Those collision boxes aren't too bad, just avoid the god awful ones and most of those aren't even near the Crystal Lizards. I found a few reliable drop areas before I found out this method to approach them.
I think that there's one left, down the tree, when you find the latter to go even down as if you were heading to ash lake, there's another one there. Thx for the video :)
In the 8+ years that I've repeatedly played DS1, I never paid attention to the number of crystal lizards in The Great Hollow. I'd always catch maybe three or so, but I figured that was all of them, and they were such a pain in the ass that I soon lost interest. Then I found out that there were somewhere along the lines of ten of them, and I was like "WTF, where ARE they?" I had no idea they were all bunched up in the same few areas, and required constant reloads (or returns to the locale) to kill. Amazing how this game STILL keeps showing me new shit.
Great vid. I haven't been able to get the 2nd one to spawn at 4:52 though. Anyone else have that issue? Multiple re-loads. I hear the sound initially after loading but then it disappears.
Great video. I don't think I got any lizards, when I went through here. I farm all the twinkling titanite and purging stones at the Seath bonfire in the Crystal Cave. Those are unlimited. Easy xp too. I didn't get any lizards, when I went through here. Have to go back here in Hope of getting a slab or two. Again, great video. I don't usually walk around with more than one soft humanity. I'm assuming 10 humanity increases the chance of getting a slab, am I correct. Come to think of it...I wonder if I should just do that with the dark wraiths. Easier to get to them, than here. Bern a while. Is your starting point, one you can warp to, or do we have to get there from one of the Blighttown bonfires?
The lizards don’t always spawn, so you have to quit and reload till they appear. But once you kill a lizard, it doesn’t respawn. Darkwraiths? I think the quickest for me were the ones in New Londo Ruins. You have to drain the water for them to appear, though. Just head down the elevator from Firelink Shrine and down where the water used to be.
@@nocturnus5532 Yeah, I can get to the dark wraiths. They haven't dropped a slab yet. They haven't dropped anything yet. So, I raised my soft humanity to 10. I'll head back and keep trying. But the lizards I'd like to get just because. It's just a pain to get back to them. I wonder if I can still work my way back up to your starting point from Ash Lake. I can get all the twinkling I need from the Seath bonfire, since it's a warp point. Just want to see if those lizards will drop a slab. Thanks for the reply.
@@thematuregamer2027 It is an extremely rare drop from the Darkwraiths, so you will be farming for a while. Also, yeah the lizards are a pain to get. That’s why I try to get all of them if I’m in that area. You cannot go back up the hollow tree once you go down, so try to get the lizards in the order shown in the video. The bonfire down at the ash lake is the only way to get out of there. Also, thanks for watching!
The best place to forever farm twinkling titanite are those walking clams after you best Seath. That's a warpable bonfire. Just keep resting. You'll get unlimited purging stones and twinkling titanite. I maxed out on purging stones sold almost all to Frampt.
@@HeartlessNinny1 Sorry I know this is a really late response, but I had the same issue, turns out all I had to do was change my position by few steps and it worked xD It's stupid yea
If u use the slumbering dragon ring or the HUSH spell they wont despawn until they see u and if u mix with it HIDDEN BODY or RING OF THE FOG they wont despawn until u get too close or hit them
Since they're 10 Crystal Lizards in this area imagine each of the Crystal Lizards dropped Titanite Slabs that would be 10 Titanite Slabs in a single playthrough 😃 but the chances are slim.
@@nocturnus5532 i got 6 slabs I'm always lucky at any game But very unlucky in real life Sometimes i even think that video games are consuming all of my luck but then remember that luck isn't even a thing
The 7th was driving me crazy as I just couldn't hit it with the damn sword, I tried bow then great bow, before finally able to hit it with the Lightning Spear. Took me probably about 20 mins. On the other hand, got 3 Titanite Slabs from them, so good compensation.
Do they respawn indefinitely or are they one kill per playthrough? I've killed all ten, but can I just stand here and farm? Or are dickwraiths the only other way to farm chicks and slabs
one kill per playthrough, dickwraiths are the only way to farm. you can also get slabs by returning to the Asylum, completing Seigmyer's questline and in a chest where you fight Kalameet
@D Coda copy. I've been standing at the entry way and restarting. Going on about 50 restarts now. I definitely hear the twinkle as I spawn in but no lizard.... just killing me.
@@nocturnus5532 so whack. I died right afteri killed the asylum deamon.. So the loot disapeared. This means the only slab left i can get is the dlc. Im not sure if i knew about the quest to get one and messed it up.
@@connorlucas5035 Yeah you can get them from the DLC. Also, It’s been a while since I’ve played this game, but I think you can farm the Darkwraiths in New Londo Ruins for some slabs. It’s a very rare drop, though.
So you must work for From Software, or know someone who does, or know someone who knows someone who does... Because there is no way you could have figured that shit out by chance... Cheers!
