Your gameplays are the best of Dark Souls board game on RU-vid. The camera position and using one tile (the one of the current encounter) is perfect to see the gameplay.
Im a big fan of darksouls and watching your videos has inspired me to get this boardgame. I will also start painting the miniatures as soon as I get some paints. Keep up the good work 👍
Won this board game (just the base) recently. Waiting anxiously for it to arrive! In the meantime, watched all of your playthroughs so far + revisiting the tutorial. By the time it is here I will already know most of the rules without even knowing how the rulebook looks like lol
"coool, co-, co-, co-, co-, co-, co-, cooool" Jake Peralta? Is that you? ;-) It's great you are playing this amazing game again! Thanks for uploading. Cheers!
I tought the board game was boring and kind of shitty and the other reviews from other people make it seem that way. But your videos make me change my mind!!! It's a really intetesting and awesome game! Keep the videos up!!!! Subscribed !!! Do you have in mind play the "Dark Souls Card Game" in the future?
Hey, that’s awesome man. Yea, I enjoy the game for what it is. I think people have a problem with it because they can’t play “their way”- they’re at the mercy of the game, but I enjoy it because each build I roll is different and I like trying to make it work I’ve done some demo games of the card game and it’s incredibly tough solo. I’ll give it another chance or two to decide whether or not I’ll do gameplay videos, but I would definitely like to do a tutorial video in the future. Maybe it’s just designed for 2+ players because with just one character, I’m always dying.
@@CynicallyAwesome You need to play flawlessly to win the card game solo. And even then there is some luck. Also some characters in the card game are easier solo and some are basically useless as solo characters. If you are extremely familiar with your character, your cards, and the attacks of the two bosses you can mitigate a good amount of the luck in the game like bad draws or particularly punishing boss patterns. But you really need a ton of experience. I found that the card game is great to play casually because the setup is rather simple. When I want a long game I break out the board game and play a campaign over the course of a week or two. But one solo card game run can take under an hour easily.
Hey, I'm thinking of painting the sorcerer and stumped on what kind of grey to use. I'm a newbie so no idea what grey would look best. Any ideas like the one in the video?
@@CynicallyAwesome I ordered a celestra grey. But now thinking that's a little too dark :/ Would base coating white or mixing the grey with white a bit make it a little lighter?
@@cierramorran3442 If you basecoat white, how would you achieve shade? I always try to achieve at least a 2 tone difference on my models and maybe highlight if i'm feeling frivolous mixing in white to make your paint lighter works
@@CynicallyAwesome I dont know lol. I been watching a view tutriouls specifically for some dark souls figures and he sometimes paint them white or black for base. But I do have other greys for a base
Campaign as in using the campaign rules you mean? Maybe, but let me get back in the habit of making normal videos first before I go making promises like that lol
@@CynicallyAwesome Oh, I only thought of a playthrough according to the suggestions that are bundled with a Mega Boss expansion‘s booklet. But I don‘t lead you into something that‘s not enjoyable for you.
@@FinalMessenger13 those are campaigns because they’re longer than the standard mini > boss > mega format, and the rules change only slightly. I would love to do one, but as you might be able to see with my channel, I have trouble releasing videos consistently, so I don’t want to promise a campaign I couldn’t deliver on, but I’m working my way towards doing something like that
Since you missed it in the very first encounter, I kept waiting see when you not noticing Alonne Bow Knight having push on its attack would impact gameplay. I think a clear example is at 23:30. Deprived gets hit by ABK, so he should've been pushed into the bottom-right corner. That would've meant an extra stamina to reach the ABK to do his attack. If you then look at 24:40, Crossbow Hollow attacks, you get the one you said you needed, but since you would've had to spend an extra stamina to reach and kill the ABK, this would've killed the Deprived. Granted, there would've been ways to mitigate, say pop Estus or kill the Hollow Soldier instead, but as you played it out, it would've resulted in "You Died". Push is the thing that really makes ABKs so annoying, especially on lvl 4 encounter boards. Does the Buckler provide a dodge die? Can't really tell from the video and too lazy to dig the card out of the box myself, but if it does and Deprived can use it, straight upgrade on Plank Shield at least. Around 1:15:50, you didn't show the Heat Up behaviour card in full, so can't tell what it actually does, but it seemed like you were turning the boss prior to his attack. Bosses only turn on movement. You also kept moving the Deprived into the enemy's node after he got the Claymore, so I'm guessing you missed the fact Claymore has a reach of one?
amazing point, yes. I completely missed the push on the bow knight. I'll pay attention to that from now on. buckler does have dodge and the deprived is now using it with the claymore. I didn't use it before since i wasn't relying on dodge, but now it's a good option. you're right, boss only turn on movement, but the card migh'tve have a move 0 behavior, which means it pivoted in place to face its target. and i did miss that the claymore is range 1. now the deprived will be truly unstoppable. thanks a lot for the detailed and thoughtful comment man
Yes, but they didn’t give you a second dragonslayer model to paint, so you’re expected to reuse ornstein’s model from the base game which I already painted gold.
@@asuramarutapes7007 that is correct. I backed the original Kickstarter and dragonslayer was not originally announced in the expansion, so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw it
