I'm very new to guitar and can't tremolo pick yet. Just attempting the first section gave me chills. The sound is almost there! I actually bought your BM course but it's way to advanced for me at the moment. Trying to learn a few cool riffs to motivate me. You're awesome Simon.

Thank you so much I love this song! In fact, it might be one of my favorites from Dark Throne now that I think about it. I'm just starting out with chromatics and scales and this is something fun and simple to break up the practice monotany every once in a while!
0:09 It's tuned at 432rp, fun fact: some earlier second wave bands used E standard with different pitches like Mayhem also used 432rp on their de mysteriis dom sathanas album and people believe Varg Vikernes of burzum used 450rp on filosofem but Varg stated that he never tuned his guitar when he bought it

Hello Simon. Could you please tell me how to set the eq so to create the proper darkthrone sound? I am using a Traynor amp and a Digitech Death Metal pedal. Also, the notes on the D string of the main chords are "buried" due to the open A. Is it a problem of my tremolo picking? Thanks.

This helped me get that riff that is hard to hear. But you did not do the one that is open e and 2 on the a string, then 1 on the e and 3 on the a. And you didn't do the outro. I thought I heard fenriz say in an interview it was 2 guitars but I might be mistaken
+Damon Cook A lot of bands didn't bother tuning with a tuner, just tuned by ear so all guitars and basses were in tune with each other, but not at standard tuning.
Kj H the thing is, its not. If doing 2 strings is a problem than you are doing something wrong. try to be gentle(dont pick too deep), it shout go like a hot knife trought the butter. Doing 3 strings or more is hard becquse of more hand movement but one or two should be easy forr you.

I'm surprised you didn't use 2 to play the e on the d-string in the second riff. Not having to switch strings with index finger would make fast riffs like this much easier to play. Maybe I'm just stupid 😂
