IF YOU "DISAGREE" ABOUT SMITE YOU ARE WRONG do not tell me about it. Just stop and re evaluate why you are wrong. Smite being bad is not an opinion thing. My self and every other player who does challenge runs all agree it is garbage. I'm sick of getting comments on this about smite. Smite is bad no it's not good no it doesn't help and no this is not a video for you to agree with or not. This is me telling you it is bad and you are wrong. And don't even try to give me your opinion until you've done challenges no one else in the world has. I'm sick of morons thinking smite is mandatory in auric. When in reality it actually makes the game harder. All smite does is let people who shouldn't be playing auric feel like they can contribute.
Dude, thanks for this so much! The build insight and explanations behind your logic had extreme value for my runs. And not just this vid, but all the others where you talk about positioning, when to run back, blessing synergy, etc. It all helped me to kill more and die less. I don't want to create walls of text about this encounter that I had in the comments. But that moment really solidified my trust in your guides and I wish I had recorded it to show you. I do want to send you a vid of one of my runs for your insight and critique at some point.
I was unaware of how broken scriers gaze was, when you went into detail of how you can extend the buff with more kills makes me think thats a more suitable ability for a fire staff build then using creeping flames due to how much more damage is gonna be getting outputted, but im unsure of that theory, also you said it has no diminishing scaling when stacking it, i wonder how it scales with a void staff or using soulblaze
Scriers is awesome, but requires some skill to manage correctly...or cheese it with Columnus. Purgatus doesn't work well with Scriers. You will hit 100% peril before your Soulflame starts to kill anything in sufficient numbers to drop peril. Gun psyker, or force sword with Exorcist, is the best way to max out stacks. Personally, I like the Scriers/Brain Burst/Empowered Psyonics combo. Does well enough with the big stuff most players panick with.
I love taking extra 2 stamina on weapon, even when surrounded by a horde from all sides you can push everything away while blocking every attack with a stamina trinket, especially since you can find your self in a situation where scryer's gaze ended and you are at full peril
Heard about it, scoffed at it, tried to make one, failed somehow, watched you video, owning it! Great amount of advice and practical know how . Than you very much !
I know we’ve disagreed on the rending video but I completely agree with everything you say here about psyker. Gun psyker is crazy strong and fun. It’s hard on ammo economy though. I wish there was some sort of ammo talent in the tree. This build is chef’s kiss.
That’s my issue. Build is super strong. But so is VS w/ True Aim, Surge, and Shriek/Assail. Maybe not quite as much damage output, but you still will likely have most DPS/Elite kills in the lobby if you know how to charge and aim - so it’s like… both are viable. The fact is the enemies on Auric Damnation are not tanks enough to require massive DPS output, but is sure is fun! Overall Gun Psyker w/ Scrier’s Gaze is super fun, and powerful. But is hard on ammo economy/less team oriented. VS w/ Surge, and Venting Shriek for maximum uptime still outputs stupid good DPS. And you don’t eat into the team’s ammo economy. Plus Shriek can remove dogs on top of teammates through walls, something no other talents in the psyker tree can do, and really just Plasma can I think outside of that.
the rant on smite was funny also when you said the average pub isn't going to fight outside of the bubble I have to say I see way too many people standing outside it in gunfire than actually use it. maybe it's because I'm not playing on the hardest difficulty (don't have the gear/game sense yet still new) but some people don't know what a shield is.
Kinda late to the party but does the peril you passively lose count as peril quelled? Or do you have to manually quell it to trigger the nodes that count it?
imma need to drop some timestamps rq Maccabian Mk IV Dueling Sword 53:08 Columbus Mk V Infantry Autogun 49:06 Curios 54:49 curios seem like a bare bones build since he’s running bonuses for farming rewards. I know he explained the curios you need to run but im too lazy too check rn.
Need 100+ toughnes - noted. Are there any necessary numbers that are important? Like min health, min amount of stamina, etc. New to this game and tbh don't feel any feeling if certain values are good or bad
I main bubble, smite and surge I toss bubbles when there are gunners and only smite when there is more then 2-3 armored targets and melee the hord... Its the best support build ever and in quick play I'm often pulling in the most kills too... It's not the insano DMG of gun Psyker but DAMN it feels good to carry your team under your wing
Brainburst is still great for EP builds, used with a Purge Staff it complements the lack of long range perfectly for those "oh shit!" moments when a sniper spawns on the other side of the map but the team is too busy fighting specs/elites to deal with it. Kinetic Flayer isn't great but it's essentially bonus damage without having to blitz when BB has an actual purpose in a build already like with Purge Staff. It's still better to switch to a proper Dueling Sword to stab crushers to death than it is to pray Flayer will proc while burning them with a Purge, but that bonus BB damage has eliminated more ragers in mixed hordes rushing at my Purge Staff than I can count so there's still good reason to use it.
Yeah, the wording on it is pretty bad: the CD time isn't global but per-enemy. I've purgatus'd hordes/elite groups and it sounds like popcorn. It's free damage on soulblaze ticks for things you're purgatusing anyway, so it's arguably A or B tier for purg builds, possibly S.
@@TheUziManiac No mate, it's an internal cooldown of 15 seconds, which is why it's atrocious. You hit a grunt in a horde and it goes on a 15 second cooldown.
thanks for this guide to the various powers of the pysker, do the new weapons change things at all. I have a psyker to lvl19 and am now rethinking his build.
I started a build for mine not super crazy End game but the idea itself was fun. Grab a Blaze Sword with the belssing that scales power with Peril use gun psyker use brain burst or Assil which ever. Drop the gloves and go for the sword who has time to quell 😂 more effective on Dam or lower runs than i thought it was gonna be.
I will note about warp charges, the more peril generation reduction you have, the less toughness you get back from the nodes at the top. So that perk (and the travel nodes that give 5%) nerf one of the best ways to get back toughness. The toughness regen one stacks with itself so if you luck out and get 3+ charges close together? Good job you have 5s of invincibility as your toughness is not budging from full. The peril reduction node also makes your peril per action vary, and as soon as you cast you have to pay more to cast stuff, without the node your peril costs are consistent, i find that easier to play with. Overall, the toughness node is so so much better than the peril node, just learn to quell and get a 78+ quell speed staff. For the same reason i think warp resistance is the dump stat on every staff. You can keep the chained charge time buff even when you quell as it's sticky for 5s, there is no reason to worry about peril.
I don't agree. The peril reduction node works fine with void and purg. Run warp flurry and the transfer peril on weakspot hit on void with 6 warp charges and you will never have to quell during hordes. With purg there's no need to even run toughness on peril generation as between crits, warp kills and auto quelling you generate toughness easily.
I miss when Pinning fire stacked with Wild fire soulblaze and let you just delete hoards. and when smite could rack up headshots for the free crit. That said I've been in love with DD since the Tree came out everyone told me it was stupid but DD and Scri was my jam at the start but I love doing all kinds of weird builds
smite used to hit headshots which triggered that forced crit trait it was very strong if trauma and voidstrike surge +fire because of the amount of fire dots now doesnt do anything so its kinda bad
I really like brain burst, but the way it has always been has been annoying to use practically in most situations. Since the release I have had issues with it. Love when I get one off, if you can make it to that point. If you don't precharge and just focus with a left click, the head lights up as a target for everyone with a gun to pop them in the head straight up before you can even capitalize on the ability. You might as well use anything else and get any amount of DPS out instead of sitting and trying to force brain rupture.
this take brough tto you by a malice player lmao. if you're in auric male storm and your team kills enough to where this is a problem then zero psyker blitzes are ever worth using
14:00 Yes the average player is trash but thats why smite is useful. It keeps enemies in place so even garbos can kill em. 26:53 I use both on the meme toughness psyker build I made. 41:48 Promise? I've heard gun psyker is bad because it is "an ammo drain on the team".
Yeah I kind of wanted to address the ammo drain on the team thing it literally doesn't matter if everyone of your bullets is doing the damage output of three or more bullets of your teammates ammo they pick up is lowering the team's overall damage output some people will say that is a toxic way to think because it might make the game slightly less fun for people who just want to waste a bunch of resources I say that is a winning mentality and that is why my last 40 maelstroms have all been wins even though they're with random people
Did they nerf this since this video came out? 38:03 I just tried it in psykanium and I haven't been able to block a single crusher or mauler overhead. It always just instakills me. (happens in game too not just psykanium) I have max block efficiency on all my curios, two +3 stamina curios, and I tried it on a bunch of meele weapons including a force-sword with deflector III. The only thing I haven't tried is adding block efficiency as a perk on the weapon. EDIT: doesn't block a single overhead even with block efficiency +20 perk either
@@TannerLindberg Ah, good to know I'm not fucking something up with that. Do you think this nerf makes full block efficiency curio set obsolete? As in, if I can already block bosses indefinitely with one or two block efficiency curios, there is not really a point in taking any more block efficiency since it doesn't get me any new breakpoints, which would lead to taking more stamina regen or sprint efficiency.
The rhetoric on smite is tiresome tbh. You either get redditors who think larping as Palpatine and tickling an entire horde is helping the game, or giga tryhards who insist its worthless in every situation. As you more accurately point out, its a situational tool that will save the game but isn't great otherwise.
@@MilanVoorhees That is the point being made Smite is extremely powerful in very narrow situations There are plenty of good reasons to take it, but it should not be the primary skill you spend most of the game on. Most of the time, it does less damage than pretty much. Anything else that you can imagine. You don't need that stun most of the time
@@MilanVoorhees Exact reason stated in the video: 90% of the time it's useless, but that 10% you use it will literally save runs with the most minimal effort on your part.
I don't know how much has change in these 6 months but I used said build ( with worse weapons/ curios) and it didn't work well against crushers. I assume he's mostly correct, even now but what really grinds my gears is that I wanna play PSYKER, if I wanted to play with guns I might as well use Zealot or Vet. It really annoys me to no end that the most viable build has no staff or psychic abilities...
Thought you where a angry little man at first then over the course of the video the hamster in my head started working then you offered head so yeah😂. Thanks for the info
Hey, get more scoreboard plugins. The base version doesn't take enough into account. My setup tracks damage you deal with exploding barrels you set off as well, so if you're good with barrels then your scores could be even higher and etc for collecting materials for the team rewards, enemies staggered and attacks blocked.
I need the psyker builds cuz lemme tell ya I figured something was wrong with all the psyker games Ive been losing and I figured it was the builds I was running not having the right skills and my overall skill lacking as well.
It was a good video made me refine my builds a bit. I mostly agree with you, altho u are too mad. Did you try to ever relax and calm down? Really not good to the health being so mad all the time!
Smite is only really good before level 20, where you dont truely have a build and cant deal with ragers, maulers, and crushers. Otherwise as you said only really useful in very niche senarios. As for the bubble only truely useful in some auspex missions and no u'ing the beast's vomit. (Mainly for fun)
Holy shit, i legit didnt even know "unlucky for some" existed 😅 Also i will defend the brain burst auto procs, 15 seconds apart is terrible, but its just random free damage and i almost never pull out the grenade-skill anyway 😬 Love your videos and your passion 😂
I would argue that BB is Psykers best Purge staff blitz, as it allows you to chew threw boss's and help against crowds of crushers with the lowered CD node helps alot with this as you just pop BB on em. While the dmg is less than impressive it helps relieve your purge staff weaknesses by quite a bit, esp with the near endless range on it. It also does not requires a constant line of sight so you can duck out charge it duck back in cover and pop em. As we all know fire dmg is beyond garbage against any sort of armor eps crushers. however the M1 on the purge stuns ragers, maulers, and Bulwarks, but not so much against Crushers. I find smite is best on Maelstrom or missions where you have alot of CC requirements and lack the presence of a fellow Orgyn. Im still so very upset they killed Assail into the ground just because "The team could not get any kills". While perhaps the CD per knife was strong im beyond pissed about how useless it is now. At least lower the rate at your gain peril on it or some other type shit. aaaaa it hurts.
with the way quietitude is written i thought it only did that if you manually quelled peril. i really hate the fact mldt of the issues i have are because the game is shit at explaining exactly whats going on.
watching this again and after trying purgatos with and without wilfire id say id rather take something else over wildfire. just having one extra toughness node feels better in game.
Thank you for this, so far I have been just following random builds that I found online but didn't know why they were good or bad, this explaines allot for me. P.S You going to make a zelot video at some point? I would love to see you rip it's tree a new one
@@TannerLindberg Sweet can't wait to have you rip my favorite zealot build (Stealth build) apart. If you don't mind me asking what to you think zealot's best weapon is right now?
In regards to your smite rant, I use smite and am very frequently Mr. Green Circles in my games like you are, because I know not to waste opportunities to kill any "small" groups with other means, and use rapid and short bursts of smite to crowd enemies into easier positions for killing them. But with the right build and when you're trying to hard-carry, smite is fantastic at killing an absolute truckload of enemies all at once. I can solo my way to a downed team with smite EASILY. It's level power is laughably high, as long as you aren't whipping it out for groups of 24 or less little guys that you should be just cutting down.
Personally, I prefer my las psyker over the Columnus. Surely, Warp Siphon would be better due to cool-down reduction? Also, Disrupt destiny is limited to certain elites? The other issue is ammo 🤷♂
@@TannerLindbergerr, ok. I put a question mark at the end of the statement thus hinting that I was unsure exactly how DD worked. btw, I watch & enjoy all of your vids. Would you mind explaining how the DD 'target' system works? Thanks
Smite seems to be good for stunning while the Zealot lands crit hits to get the penance for "on Heresy level or higher kill X stunned enemies with critical hits" :p
thoughts on the best gun for gunpskyer? cant find myself swapping off revolver, except for laspistol sometimes when i dont feel like oneshotting everything
Hey Tan, love the video and the enthusiasm you give telling it. I like to play with the bots so I'm the main killing person in game, could you do videos in the future for builds while using bots? I like the staffs (void) is my favorite and I know using gun would be awesome but maybe show both, what say you?
I would be curious to see a recording of you playing this build on I-II-V-E-G, just to get an idea of how you put it to work and how well it performs in intense situations.
lucky you i actually have. a build guide for this build which show cases gameplay of true solo i-ii its only the first room but the fact i can casually load in first try and make it out of the first room entierly solo kind of speaks volumes to how op it is.
That sounds alright, though I'd prefer to watch a whole illveg with some decent teammates competing for kills and ammo, as that is the reality most of us play in. You make some pretty bold claims so it would be good to see the proofs pudding in real action.
I really doubt anyone would want to watch live un edited gameplay for very long. Also solo is 5x harder than with a group lol if it works solo it carries in normal play
I believe gun psyker is viable and can carry in the right party, but so can staff psyker. Soloing a maelstrom room is also a bar that good staff psykers can match. I want to be convinced your gun psyker really is the strongest psyker, and not just asianrobotesk theorycraft. Currently I'm assuming your opinions mostly reflect you being average at staves.
@@TannerLindberg In a live match you're competing for ammo with the rest of the team. Bots don't consume ammo so it's a big change to the uptime of your gun if you don't need to share ammo.
From the moment I've learned how to play with gaze I'm not able to play with the other 2 nodes. I'm difficult to master but my god it's golden. I do use it with blazing illisi and smite and most of the time come up with most dmg and kills in a run. The biggest problem of smite players is overusing that skill, it's great if you find yourself (or your team) in a pinch and need to stun and push the horde away. As for the realasianrobot...yeah, his builds are fucking bad, though he's good in explaining them.
Good lord I've never seen/heard someone hate Smite so much in my LIFE lmao. I'm still cry laughing over the Warp Siphon/Smite part lmao. Holy shit. I mean I get it, it's underwhelming and gunpsyker is just THAT much better, but also it's roughly the same as assail in terms of getting rid of a horde, and Siphon makes it twice as effective. It doesn't require ammo, quelling takes next to no time, and everything caught in it WILL die in two full applications or less (unless it's a hard target ofc). Like yeah of course base Smite is trash it NEEDS the rest of the tree, and either Empowered or Siphon will make it tenable. U rite tho, it's for carrying people worse than you and being clutch when things go wrong, which is basically what happens in anything under a regular Damnation. But really, you've not said a single lie since I started watching, and my rapidly aging ass has a softspot for seething vitriol and a willingness to hatesuck a dong or two. Subscribed.
What I gather from this video is the following: Take smite with no upgrades to it and EXCLUSIVELY use it against a crusher / bulwark squad WHEN YOU ARE PINNED INTO A CORNER. Take Scrier's Gaze and win the game. Take Disrupt Destiny and win the game. That's about it.
It’s interesting. Some of your points are spot on, and you’re amusing. But some of your stuff is flat out misinformation too (like RealAsianRobot). Kudos to the work and video though. You make valid points about all the nodes on the tree and some being mehh like Kinetic Flayer. But Perilous Combustion is incredibly good on the highest difficulties since you’re loading 6-10 stacks of Soulfire on everything. You will have to kill several elites in a row on HI shock troop, and that clears out chaff. Brain Burst is mehh at best. You’re on point about when to use and not use Smite, but damn - you really ragged on that. Good players already know that, and wasted a lot of the video on that one point. The main thing I’d fight you on is Assail and Venting Shriek though. Instant 6 stacks of Soulblaze to the entire screen is not something to scoff out. Can delete hordes of gunners and ranged enemies for the team. And Assail… well, you have to try it with empowered psionics. Mettle, true aim, etc. You build into it even a little and you’ll have max damage and take out the most elites like a breeze. It’s still stupid good since the nerfs, borderline broken. But most people assume they’re bad now. Could not be further from the truth. Probably the most broken part of psyker next to guns/VS.
What did i say that is mis information? You claimed that then proceeded to not say what is mis information. Its so easy to just claim things when you dont follow it up with what definitely os what. Either elaborate on what exactly is mis information or im banning you from my comments
@@TannerLindberg I thought I outlined it in my post, but perhaps didn’t make it clear! Don’t mean to be condescending, but I disagreed with a few of your points. You downplayed Perilous Combustion, Venting Shriek (w/ Flames), as well as Assail. Misinformation: I’m not sure if your math is off or if you tested those three things with no investment. But on Auric Damnation - 6 stacks of Soulblaze kill all chaff and basic gunners. Combining Perilous Combustion, Assail, and Flames is absurd and melts the screen. You’re right that Wildfire is trash, as well as Kinetic Flayer. That people overuse Smite, but it’s still good in most situations.
If that still isn’t clear. Specifically: - Downplaying the potency of Assail when it’s still arguably (almost definitely) the best Blitz outside of niche situations Smite is useful in. - Venting Shriek is not a bad ultimate. Probably second best. Shield is a bit of crutch. But can be great with teams not used to Auric Damnation. And you never talk about ammo economy w/ guns. Shriek + Flames delete stuff and quell 50% peril which can instantly stagger/heal your toughness. I could go on and on, but it’s best ult next to Scrier’s Gaze. - Perilous Combustion was downplayed. With Assail Spam, Columbus, or Voidstrike. You don’t just spread little stacks to enemies. You spread massive stacks and delete chaff while only focusing elites. It is a VERY GOOD node. Again, agree with a lot of your points. But hard disagree there.
I feel like Kinetic flayer wouln't be so bad if the cooldown was *up to* 15 seconds *depending on the current HP of the target.* Magdumping into a trash mob an it procs? No cooldown. Hitting a boss at 90% HP and it procs, 15 second cooldown. At present it just encourages you to do nothing unless you've got a clear shot on something you want to proc it on. A good talent should never encourage you to not play the game.
