When the sound works it can be amazing. I can close my eyes and hear the exact, pin-point location of a specialist spawn 100 yards back or exact teammate locations despite the chaos (this is on a cheapish chi-fi stereo DAC/amp with some decent open back headphones or IEMs). It's good enough to actually use that sense of presence to move around and avoid attacks beyond just the back-attack sound cues. The problem is those damn silent spawns. I don't think even turning off the music can help. It's like the game's audio engine gets overwhelmed and can't keep up in the top difficulties. Silent back-spawning hordes are terrible, too.
Honestly I kind of like it. Obviously it’s unintended but it is immersive. Can’t expect a reject to hear everything after all. It is super annoying to lose a match because of it tho
Having a plasma gun power sword vet in your quickplay is so annoying. Either they're so oppressive that they just escort you to the end or they're some gluesniffer that constantly goes down.
Very relatable thing you said at the start: it get worse the better you are at the game. Having a weapon with good dodges and stamina regen is really important to me the more I've played.
Charge rate isn't a dead stat. The bug did get fixed so it doesn't directly affect damage anymore. However, charge rate directly affects how quickly you can fire off LMB shots as well as RMB shots. Low charge rate stat is noticeable as the weapon feels significantly more sluggish. High charge rate makes the gun feel closer to a revolver in performance
something to consider with the plasma is that it vents more heat the higher you start venting at. you also want to start venting right when you hit 100 to skip some of the cooling animation, and if you can, bring it back down to 0%. You can shout while venting to protect yourself as well. I bit the bullet and forced myself to use the reload tech and I've grown to like the rewarding minigame. I play a similar build with more of a focus on team support, relying on plasma's built in OP-ness to carry. Exhilarating takedown, field improv, all 3 ping talents and the controversial Born Leader. I know it gives a lot of damage up and relying on your team in pubs is not a great plan but I like the playstyle a lot. It feels like a hybrid support/dps that frankly shouldn't be that powerful. Something I've been wondering about Focus target is the stacking, it seems if both vets have the +3 stacks talent the ping aura buffs won't stack. At 20%~ damage aura I'd imagine you hit a few breakpoints.
Silent singular enemies have been a thing since vermintide. How come even if you're back to the wall to avoid being flanked, *ONE* lowest tier trash mob is often there. The games spawn shit behind you to get a cheap hit in.
It totally does. Especially the higher difficulties. Like Auric , or auric mael. I noticed the same thing in Deep rock Galactic if you ever played it. On haz5 , slashers that can kill you easily in a few hits and daze you, often spawn right behind you too. Developers do this crap on purpose.
Really helpful video, was struggling with the Plasma Gun for a long time, going off the general advice that you always need to charge shot and use volatile etc, felt very clunky to use and just shelved it . Using the standard shot with this set up makes it much snappier and enjoyable to play. Thanks for the guide keep the great content coming.
Power sword enjoyer here. Ya gotta do light attacks on ragers to stagger them, for some reason the push attack doesn't do that. You are 100% right about weapon specialist though, it's actually unusable without it. I like to run the zarona revolver(agrippina is dogwater) with it so I still have decent movement overall
I've noticed that any kind of armor usually stops the power sword dead in it's tracks unless you're powered up, that's a real big problem in mixed hordes. Honestly I never really run vet much though, I prefer running Psyker with the magic delete everything sword Illisi and Surge staff. It may not be as meta as gun Psyker but with the right build it's phenomenal for keeping toughness up, eliminating scab shooter groups + gunners, and removing specialists all while conserving ammo for the other classes that actually need it to deal ranged damage.
Curious. How would you build around focus fire for plasma gun builds. I haven't had a whole lot of luck and trying to see if it's more of a skill issue than it actually being a bad build to run plasma with.
I do enjoy the "plasma sword" :P but I think the chainsword is a better all-rounder for intense play. I go back and forth between them both for fun, but the chainsword feels like a superior tool for surviving Aurics.
I've been watching your builds playlist. Very nice builds. Which would you say is the most potent? Your gun psyker build and your tryhard vet build seem to be up there
The only "low mobility" melee I can enjoy is the mk3 shove and it's more mobile than power swords :') One tapping crushers in auric is just too satisfying, and while its horde clear is trash, the amount of stamina&stagger you get is pretty safe. Just nade the horde, back to dakka dakka. I won't argue that CB is undethronable tho.
I personally kinda hate playing vet cause I feel like it just sucks in melee. Sure you can handle melee fights as a vet but you won't ever be as good as zealot or ogryn are in melee
Yeah vet isn't the best at melee but has a ton of stuff that helps his team and a ton of toughness Gen that he can share. He won't melee as well on his own but missions go so much smoother with a vet than without.
@@SHOW01000 Yeah true. I think I should have been more specific. I don't like melee vet because it doesn't have all that many ways to regenerate toughness in melee compared to Ogryn and Zealot
The power sword 6 is an incredible weapon, and is amongst the strongest melee weapons available to the veteran. I still hate using it though, it feels so clunky to use, and it's doubly terrible with the plasma gun because then you've two punishingly slow weapons. My damage stat looks pretty baller though.
The two weapons I don't even bother to roll for. Firstly Ragers even the flak armored ones, are only a problem if you're dense enough to melee them. These elites die in 1 revolver bodyshot, columnus is probably even easier. 2ndly, 80% of Vet melee weapon is garbage, because it's meant to create space for you - it's a utility. If you want to melee play Zealot ffs.
Its time for me to revamp my plasma build when I get home and im gonna actually invest in brunts for a new plasma gun cuz I gotta have blaze away been playing way too long without it.
Yeah its slow AF, BUT power sword III with power cycler 4 and brutal momentum even the ragers are no problem. Still don't play with it but it was doing the job when I was using it.
I talked about why power sword is overrated during the first month of game launch and people absolutely hated me lmao. Power sword is the typical weapon that would need momentum to keep going, because the moment you get hit and lose the charge it just becomes increasingly difficult to reactivate, and if you get rager rushed you just die to stun lock. In that sense devil's claw or the knife will do a much better job to keep a veteran alive, since you can just parry or literally run away from your problems.
I replace power sword with new blue shovel for more mobility and more block and it work fine and even better if you got skull crusher and continuous power chain attack
Have you tried going down to the marksman focus instead of the pings, since it will be easy getting those weak spots stacks by just blasting the horde with your plasma gun
And this is why I never use the power sword Not even even in a passing glance have I ever used it I have always used the swords, the chain weapons and the knives I’ve never understood why the power sword is in the game if it’s so shit
I agree volatile does I have experience with it I didn’t get a choice. I got volatile and I couldn’t throw it away because it’s the only good plasma gun I have.
so I'm not the best tide player tho I can do a damnation run and I do not have the best perks/blessings (legit just got a m2 dum dum for the clom) I actually really like the power sword with the clom as I fucking hate going through 2 fucking mags with crushers
damn am i actually more knowledgeable about something. powersword is actually quiet amazing against ragers because basic powered m1 stuns 3 maniac and 2 flak ragers
Yeah, maybe there were updates cause Ragers are easy to handle with the powersword. I cleave them in half easily in Damnation. The armored ragers too and if not killed instantly they are stunned lol
I don't see the point of blaze away. You are one-shotiing most of the thing in the game except for mutants and ogryns, but you don't break any breakpoint ot kill these guys. You still need 3 shots to kill crushers with or without the blessing.
