DW is a very nice guy, ive had the pleasure of meeting him in person and spending 2 hrs with him while I was fixing his cable TV. He was exactly as he seems and was a very dedicated Christian. He told me a few story's one including Dale Earnhardt Sr. I got a picture and autograph and he tipped me $100!
Same here! We laid carpet in the house by the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Mostly with Stevie then him later. Came back the next day and got hats. My 77 Pontiac Grand Prix wagon broke a tie rod in his gravel driveway so we had to kick the tire straight all along to get it out. Then of course, drove it on home carefully. Great family, and same thing, $100 tip!
Right on D.W. I remember seeing the tears during Dales crash while everyone was cheering after the others crossed the line, you just said, "hope Dales ok." He was so worried. I was watching the race w/ my dad that day, "scary"
I think D.W. and the others already knew Dale was dead or knew at least that he seriously injured. I believe that they had access to the in car camera view and probably saw right away the damage that had been done. I remember watching it as the ambulance drove away slowly, and D.W. saying something like, "Dale was a great driver." as if he already knew he was dead.
It's 2019 & y'all are making me cry. I remember like it was just yesterday. They knew. But it took 10 years for Ken Schrader to say he actually knew immediately that Dale Sr. had passed away. He didn't want to be the one to say it though when it happened. #RIP3 #INTIMIDATOR 💕🙏💕
i had a dream about two weeks prior to that 500 in 2001 where for some reason my dad missed the race but i had heard earnhardt had died in the race (dunno how that wasnt in the dream) and my dad said after i told him the news....."oh no, he's too tough he couldnt die.....i was watching the race with my dad that day.....we saw the wreck then he had to leave shortly after so i had to tell him when he came home a few hrs later..........i never saw him cry ever except once....about an hour after i told him i walked into the living room (i might add i was racing micro sprint cars and was 10 1/2 at the time of that 500) and we was teared up and it was the only time he ever wavered on us racing and he asked me if i wanted to mayb take up golf or something.......i said hell no and it was never brought up again he lost that thought after i was still 200% in......but we were both huge earnhardt fans before my number when i raced 4wheelers and dirtbikes from when i was 4-8 was 3 painted just like the 3 on his car and i always had a lil 1:64 scale car zip tied on my handle bars........we won 72 of 128 races over those years.....that ended up being my sprint car number because to run 1-10 you had to finish that position in the national standings the previous year.......and yeah ole D.W. knew pretty much from the impact didnt he........i live 15 min from where he lives on center hill lake........im 30 now been a boat mechanic for about a decade and have met him......SUPER GUY AND LOVES CHRIST!!!!
And that is what Christianity is... a relationship with Jesus where your conscience is awoken and a change in heart where you stop putting yourself before anyone or anything else. It is not a religion, though man makes it into one. Thank you Darrell for being living example of the liberation Jesus brings to our lives.
DW was one heck of a great driver.... love him or hate him he could put that car in the winners circle !!!! Glad you found the Lord. That will be the greatest race you ever win my friend
Amen I have always liked Darrell and I just a couple years ago rededicated my life to Christ and I see him in everything that I do, and has changed everything about me and my view on life.
+Kevin Stone As long as we just open the door for Christ to come in, then he will come in. I love Darrell's testimony because it shows how your priorities change when you begin to walk with Jesus... just like you said, he will change everything about someone. Darrell's problem was his massive ego, and God picked this moment to show him that he is *not* invincible and how earthly rewards will never compare to being made a new creation in Christ.
DW I was a fan back when you were cocky and I never waivered,WIN,LOSE OR DRAW!! You see I knew that GOD had given you Stevie and she PRAYED for you constantly and yes that wreck was a wake up call but Stevie helped GOD keep you going and then you were able to finally SEE there is a better way 🙏 And people who are Christian think that you can't have FUN and CUT-UP, JOKE ETC just because you are a Christian 🙏 What they don't realize is we Christians have MORE FUN THAN ANYBODY AND WE REMEMBER IT!!! It's AWESOME 🙏 PRAISE GOD FOR WAKING YOU UP AND FOR GIVING YOU STEVIE 🙏 I met your Dad at Bristol after you won while you were in Victory Lane 🏁🏆🏁 and I also got to speak with Stevie and I want you to know that both Stevie and your Dad were so very sweet and kind and beautiful inside and out and I will always treasure that special memory because now it's a PRECIOUS TREASURED BLESSING 🙏❤️🤗🙏 It was really hot that day and I'm not sure who's car it was but it was running with the AC on because y'all's adorable pup was in the car sleeping even with all the noise and excitement going on outside. Once you hung up your driver's suit and went to the broadcast booth, it was awesome 😁❤️ You could always have another career doing stand up comedy 😂 because you are super funny and I always looked forward to hearing your Boogidy,Boogidy Boogidy LET'S GO RACING 🤗❤️😂😂😂 PRICELESS TREASURED BLESSING 🙏 THANK YOU FOR SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES AND SO MUCH EXCITEMENT AND HUMOR🤗❤️🙏 I miss hearing your voice in the broadcast booth but I understand spending quality time with grandchildren is so much more important as I have grandchildren and great grandchildren now and they're so much fun 🤗❤️ GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY NOW AND ALWAYS 🙏🙌🙏
In his day, DW was my driver, a great person as well as driver. A friend of mine hated DW until she met him, then her opinion changed quickly and he became her favorite. You are right, he does not look like he has changed at all.
In the 1984, Darrell Waltrip came to me in the rain in Talladega a few days before the race and said he had to get 14 jackets down to the pits for my guys, we didn't expect this rain. He signed off on the jackets and I took the golf cart down to the pits, where I met him and gave him the jackets. I had met him say 3 or 4 times in the pits the last few years and I can honestly say I saw a big change in him, from a distance. Totally different human being. I always have liked his driving style, I think he was much better as the jackass in 81 and 82. Love you Darrell!
Darrell was a hero of mine. I cheered him on every race. He could talk smack and back it up. I am so glad that he humbled himself and allowed Jesus Christ into his heart.
Our Lord allows things to happen in our lives as a wake up call to seek him. Those that listen to him ARE WINNERS in Him. Praise the Lord for the blessing.
to this day his voice haunts me with "boy i hope Dale is all right " i can hear it now as im typing.. he had just seen his little brother win the Daytona 500 he was on cloud 9. but he wasn't... Darryl Waltrip is a good man, a solid man, a God fearing Man, and a credit to the sport and the species, if you feel differently im sorry, if it means enough to you that he aint , come see me... i aint backing off this.
I can't even imagine D.W. as a bad guy. I didn't keep up with NASCAR at that time and don't anymore, but when I did, he seemed like he was always happy, upbeat and very positive.
Jesus or God have never done anything for anyone, as they do not exist. Some people's belief in those fairytale figures have however done a lot of things. Good and bad.
RAAZR You want believe and should or you wouldn’t be commenting on every God post . I pray you change before you die . Forever is long time to be wrong.
@@RAAZR- You will NOT be dead for one minute A N D at that moment you will realize ,you FAILED to make that most important decision. To ACCEPT THE LOVE AND ETERNAL SECURITY IN ACCEPTING JESUS CHRIST as Y O U R LORD AND SAVIOR.--- It is not too late. PRAY earnestly for for HIS redeeming spirit to CHANGE Y O U R heart and life for eternity.
I was thinking the same exact thing. lol. Kyle Busch has a ton of talent but his mental game is lacking greatly and his mouth gets him in far more trouble than it should. I think he started doing a little better last year so lets watch and hope it continues this year.
I heard that Kyle Busch did give his heart to the Lord. He seems to have softened some and he's not so volatile in front of the camera. maybe it's true. We'll see. That would be a dramatic turn-around. I still have a hard time liking him though.
I can tell Kyle is changing I saw him after a race when Kyle Larson won and he was over congratulating him and he did it again next week but I forgot who won
@MassillonJoe , Youre so right. Isnt it great a young kid like Trevor comes along. Good racer for a youngster and more humble than the rest. I dont watch alot of racing cause of the haughtiness but enjoyed watching Trevor win. Hope he remains humble
Waltrip was a super-star in the early to mid-eighties. Mouthy? Yes! But the man could drive an old-school NASCAR stock car and proved he could drive the modern-day rides. We are given the choice to accept Christ or not. He chose to accept Christ. I see it as an admirable quality of his.
Sometimes God will open our eyes in REALLY BIG ways. I thank God he finally opened mine. And yes I've been on da bottom. It made me learn to appreciate little things so much more God. Family self. God bless you DW
rise in my heart Dale Earnhardt senior may he rest in peace I still watch NASCAR this is the same but they'll hurt or hurt Jr is still with us and may he keep may he keep running the NASCAR in the Navi memory of his father keep up the good work keep the greasy side down and the shiny side up Junior you are a good driver and I know you can win the race
I met him once back in 1990 in the pits at Phoenix. He was very buisy but took the time to answer a couple of (Important to me)questions that helped me with a project. He has always been my favorite NASCAR driver.
When the good Lord get hold of you IT will change you. He is a God of mercy and love. Letting him take charge is the best thing you will ever do in your life. Thanks Darryl for your testimony.
I was 1 of the racing fans that absolutely hated DW on the track & I'd rather see him lose than for my favorite driver to win. But in his last 8-10 years I became a big fan of DW. I can't explain why, but you could not notice a change in him. Now I know what brought about that change
Huh. I really wasn't following NASCAR back then. F1, Indycar, IMSA and SCCA were my main focus back then, but I eventually caught the NASCAR bug later in life. My point being, I didn't know he had a bad rap back then. Well, it's obvious he's done a 180 degree attitude adjustment, so kudos for that!. I always liked him behind the microphone. Keep up with the good work, Darrell.
Used to see him all the time in the Concord Pizza Hut and he always talked and smiled with anyone stopping to say Hi. We actually used to see lots of drivers around town doing normal things before it got where the drivers were Hollywood level celebrities.
I agree with you Darrell. It took me nearly dying in a wreck to get me to understand that my number can be up anytime. I'm thankful to the man above for letting me walk away from that wreck.
I was never a big fan of Darrell (I still fly my Intimidator flags at the track) but I always kinda secretly liked him. However nobody can deny that he was a fierce competitor and to this day is still a great man! Looking back I really did enjoy watching his rivalry with Dale Sr come full circle. After Steve Park was injured Sr needed a great driver and D W needed a ride. Sr knew who he had to call. 2 great competitors on Sunday and 2 great men EVERY day. Unfortunately only one of them is still with us. There's an old saying...winners come and go but heros are forever. In my mind these men will both live forever!
Dominick's Trains & Movies Which of the 5,000 or so fictional fantasy gods do you kneel to? Seems the religious goon indoctrination is high in you. Sorry snowflake - Jesus never existed and your god is just a selfish cunt who gives cancer to children.
Curtis Rupp // I remember Jeff as one or the best of drivers that ever was. He and Mark Martin put on some of the best racing I’ve ever seen, both drivers, clean as can be proved you could be a winner without wrecking half the field doing so. As far as the fans go, they can be unnecessarily ruthless when they want to be.
Drove that Yellow Pepsi Challenger car in 1983 after winning 2 straight championships. Had tons of bad luck even though he was fast every week. He was practically the most popular driver after Rusty Wallace wrecked him in the AllStar race in 1989.
I started liking Darrell when he drove the #88 Gatorade car in the late 70's. I was 5 or 6. I can say, I was the only DW fan in school... I'll never forget though, he'd TELL you he was going to win next and he did it... As for his attitude and demeanor, ALL the drivers had the "GET OUT OF MY WAY or GET OFF THE TRACK" attitude back then...
Great video. I hate to see someone get hurt in an accident, but I hope Kyle Bush has a similar turn around after his nasty wreck today in the Coke 400. If he learns to play nicer he could become great fun to watch, like DW was and is now.
When you are down and everything is looking gloomy and dark you must remember this about Jesus: If you put your trust in Him, He will NEVER let you down.
@@mwilliams27 What signs? Man destroys the planet and you call it a rapture? Science disproves everything your bible of bullshit claims. I only regret I was an atheist sooner.
@JIMMY HENDERSON peer reviewed science, not that sudo science bullshit you're referring to. Are you suggesting someone actually built a boat large enough to hold two every species? Absolutely silly to believe in such fairy tails.
@JIMMY HENDERSON You ate making a lot of claims and assumptions. Do you have any sources for your statistics? I grew up in a Christian household and did my research. This is why I've become an atheist, not because some guy on RU-vid said so. Critical thinking is a two way road and I invite you to share your sources for your carbon dating and other claims so I may make these judgements for myself. Skepticism is a two way road. I'm not indefinite with my conclusion and willing to change my mind as I come across more evidence to support any claim of a deity. "I'm going with C as my final answer" is a foolish assumption of anyone who has skepticism. If that was the case, I'd still be worshipping today. Don't bring consequences of a fallacy as an argument unless you're ready to prove it's existence.
This is why a lot of people don't understand NASCAR, the South, Fox, America, etc. There's an unadvertised Spirit that permeates such a lifestyle, and it is because we are brothers and sisters in Christ.
I seen him at Pocono in 05. He was coming from the Hollywood Hotel to the booth and to get there you have to go under the tunnel and behind the grandstands and up an elevator, and behind the grandstands is where everyone comes in to get to their seats and he was real nice, he talked to the people and answered questions. DW is a nice guy, he walked to the elevator shook everyones hands, signed a few things. Its too bad I didn't have anything to sign other than a 5 dollar bill to go buy some food
I see that your comment is a month old, but I just want to say that you are absolutely right. I love DW and he sure loves the race. He's a great guy and some of the other drivers could learn a thing or 2 from his passion for the sport. BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!
If people throw chicken bones and beer at ya, it's an Aussie way of giving affection here in Australia, well, when you take it on the chin and smile and give em some back, like Kyle Petty 🤣🤣 You are admired over here, across the other side of the world. Boogety, boogety, boogety
