Darren Daulton seemed to be a tremendous person as I didn't realize it as a young sports fan. Later on, I learned to really like and respect the Phillies legend. I greatly appreciate your interest in this 90s MLB video. Thank you so much and enjoy this sports history documentation.

Thank you so much for the comment. I was curious to wonder what Phillies fans thought about #10. I didn't necessarily dislike that '93 Phillies team, but I wished I could have experienced that team and followed them more back in 1993. That team was very interesting. Hopefully for you, the Phillies make the postseason.

Prior to 1992, Daulton was the target of the boo birds who thought he was an injury prone pretty boy. From 1985 through 1988, Daulton bounced back and forth between the minors and the majors with a major knee injury in 1986 and a broken hand in 1988 that hindered his development. In 1989, he finally became the Phillies starting catcher, but hit barely above .200, which garnered him boos from Phillies fans. In 1991, Daulton and Lenny Dykstra were involved in an auto accident. Daulton came back from the accident too soon, his production suffered and he was the target of boos yet again. But Daulton always held himself accountable and never made excuses, which earned him the respect of his teammates and, eventually, the fans.

I met Dutch like five times. The first time I met him he talked to me for 5 minutes I could not believe that this guy was talking to me for 5 minutes. And people were telling him come on we got to go and he kept talking to me. That right there made him my favorite because he wasn't my favorite at the time but he was after that. And all other four times I met him he was the same way he remembered me which is amazing he remembered what we were talking about. So I miss dutch so much. God called him home and I'm sure if heaven has a baseball team Dutch is catching for it. Lol. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thanks again for an awesome comment. I wish I could've met Dutch. It seemed like he was such a humble and down to earth person. Obviously, I have no idea as I have never met him but reading a comment like yours was an enjoyable read. Thanks again for your two comments as I really enjoyed reading them. Enjoy the rest of the MLB season.

Daulton was my favorite player! I as a teen, had a lifesize poster of Dutch and the phanatic in my room. I was 13 yrs old when they went to World Series in '93. I played softball and always chose #10 for my team jersey. This guy was my hero. I have learned more in later years about him and what a great teammate he was. He died of a cancerous tumor and so did my grandfather, who really encouraged me to watch baseball and play softball. I love Daulton! Thanks for this video!

Im 40, and a lifelong Phillies fan!! That 1993 Phillies team were like superheroes to me!! The Captain was Darren Daulton my hero, a peoples champ ro his teammates but he wasnt scares to put out of line teamates in their placw. I heard a story he kicked curt schillings ass for acting out of line. RIP Dutch

Couldn’t stand?! You musta been a Mets fan. 93 team was the best!

Thanks for the comment. I got a good laugh but no - I wasn't a Mets fan back then. I loved that rivalry back in the day. I always blamed Dutch for Sheffield not winning that triple crown (in which I know is ridiculous). But anyways, I did become a huge Daulton fan when I learned what he was all about. That '93 team was something else. Jim Fregosi one of my favorite managers. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of the baseball season.

Here's the thing about Darren Daulton that I will always find amazing, 1997, Dautlon was the Phillies opening day first basemen, but because of Danny Tartabul ended up getting injured after a handful of games, Daulton volunteered to play right-field, which paved the way for Rico Brogna to be the team's everyday first baseman.

In my opinion, the 90s were one of the greatest eras of both talent and played personality, so I’ll always be thankful to this channel for calling to attention guys from that era who don’t get much attention compared to the Hall of Famers and stars. So glad Daulton got his ring in Florida.

I was so happy Dutch and Jim Eisenreich won a World Series, but it was with the 1997 Florida Marlins.

I like the Jim Eisenreich mention. He had a beautiful swing. Moreover, I liked how Harry Caray pronounced his name with "Ei" being so throaty. But that was strange seeing Dutch and Eisenreich in teal. But also, glad they won a ring. Thank you so much for the comment and thanks for watching the video.

Dude I'm a Philadelphia Phillies fan for over 40 years and I totally respect that. I would have not like Darren Dalton if I was you for doing that to my guy. Darren Dalton was funny he was caring he loved his teammates and I'm so happy that he was able to win a world series in the end. Because of one guy the Phillies could not get that accomplished with him. Carter single-handedly beat the Phillies in the world series The guy was untouchable. When Dutch passed away it ripped my heart out he was my favorite Phillies player at the time when he played now it's no secret JT is my favorite. It's not because I was a catcher playing baseball It's just it worked out that way I love JT just as much as I loved Dutch It's like watching Dutch all over again and I love it and I am so happy for my Phillies right now.

This was such a great comment. I really enjoyed reading it. When you said - "Darren Dalton was funny he was caring he loved his teammates" that was something that I did not understand at the time and later realized that he was the best. At the time I loved Sheffield, but Daulton wound up being one of my favorites. Thanks for watching the video and thanks for the comment.

I was 10 years old in 1993 in Philly and that team is forever tied to my childhood…I remember going to games and seeing Dutch and thinking he was larger than life…I ended up meeting him years later at a bar in South Philly one night and when he talked to you he made you actually feel like he really care he was one of the nicest guys I ever met

Thank you so much for the comment. I really enjoyed reading it. I'm very interested in what others thought about Dutch as I'm glad you responded. As I mentioned in the video, I couldn't stand Daulton as a young baseball fan, but as time went on, I really began to like him. From my understanding, I hear he was an amazing human being as I really appreciate athletes who really appreciate the fans. Awesome comment as I'm so glad you posted it. Thank you.
