These days there are more guns and more lethal guns than there was during the north liverpool gang wars. But possibly the reason that there is not more shootings these days than there was back then is probably a few things like a lot got murdered so that will decrease the amount, a seriously and unproportionate amount of liverpools gangsters have been heavily slammed by the courts since the early 2000,s till today. Something mad that might happen is that a lot of them was put away in early 2000,s so a lot will now be released or due to be released which is going to be interesting as to what will happen cus each year the scene is being run by kids getting younger an younger an they are just not arsed about names or reputations so it will be sound to see what happens

There may have been some weapon swapping during that period. The Irish were getting weapons from Gaddafi & other "Terror Groups" that were sympathetic to our cause. But they were all large Automatic weapons like AK-47's so there were plenty of them, but a shortage of smaller handguns. As great as large Assault weapons were in proper attacks, they weren't much help for average daily use. You cant exactly head to the local shops or stroll around with an AK-47 without looking suspicious. Handguns were easier to keep concealed and for intimidation. But more importantly they could be used for Punishment shootings to send a message with a simple shot to the leg, which the victim would recover from with no lasting damage. Where as an AK-47 would most likely take the leg off altogether, and the victim would probably bleed out before getting to the hospital. Which kinda defeats the purpose of just trying to send a message. So there was an abundance of larger weapons and explosives, but a shortage of handguns and smaller weapons. So it wouldn't be at all surprising if they were swapping Assault weapons for handguns. It makes sense. During the nineties it all changed. The big drug importers that had Port employees in their pockets started bringing weapons through with their regular shipments, and giving them out to customers as incentives. Their customers were a lot younger and a different breed. So instead of keeping the weapons offside and only using them in dire straits, they went out of their way to start feuds just to show off their weapons. Unnecessarily shooting each others gaffs up and taking shots at each other. Which only got worse with each generation, leading to what we have now. The wild west with innocent bystanders just collateral damage. More recently its gotten better. Think they realised its harder to do business when you're constantly watching your back. Hopefully they continue to keep it like that.
