Dart Delta wing glider Maiden Flight.

This glider is an own-design made using a mixture of Depron foam and Balsa. I used Depron for the wing ribs in an effort to save some Balsa. The maiden flight was in about 12 mph of wind. It has a very light wing loading and will easily carry some ballast if needed.

Another quick and dirty way of making a delta is using corroflute,correx (e.g.Mugi Evo) such as the floor protection sheets sold by Wickes etc. No need for ribs and just one spar required ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P0WU8_BFgH4.html

Another great flying masterpiece by John as he throws it around the sky then pausing just for a short while to be with a hawk "look I can hover too" while the hawk is not impressed at all. 👍👍

Very nice. Being a delta wing I thought that it might be more like what its name implies - a dart - but it's quite a floater. Flies beautifully! 👍

Always a pleasure to watch a pro fly a well designed, well built model. Very responsive! I bet with a bit more breeze and ballast it could be a real scorcher...if that's how you choose to fly it. You never disappoint, Sir John. Another exceptional presentation.

I believe this bird if ballasted, would easily reach Warp Factor 7 in about .03 seconds in a dive attitude! Looks like it cares not whether right side up or upside down. I would like to see it fly at the highest wind speed of it's envelope! She looks as slippery as a mid-summer Catfish is !!

I had back in the 70s a delta wing Nitro, I guess I should have removed the motor. Yours flys so much better.

Dear John - I was an avid UK sloper for 35 years until I retired to the Philippines with Meon Valley club and Ivinghoe club but I also used to fly in Wales, Rhossili in the Gower lovely slope other sites too but I don't recognize your site. Where is it ?--- don't worry I won't be coming there, I'm 11,000 miles away - just curious.

LOVE IT! Man, is that aerobatic! Is that a reflected airfoil, or just a flat bottom? I think the fighter designers could take a cue from you on this one.

Thank you! It’s not a true reflex airfoil. I wasn’t sure how much reflex it would need, so gave it a flat bottom profile for ease of construction, with intention that the full length flat section elevons could be set with the necessary reflex. I just changed the lines of the upper airfoil so it transitioned into the elevons more smoothly. However, it seems to fly straight and level without any up elevon. I guessing this is because it’s got a big wing cord compared to a true flying wing, so the CG is not so critical and the elevons have a bigger moment arm.
