Like you said though at the point of cutting the younglings down its a point of no return......my next thought is not very original, but wouldn't it be cool to see a full power "Vader"? No dismemberment or defeat on Mustafar? Think of how powerful and unstoppable he'd be. That also begs the question that without the constant pain and irreversible damage would he continue down the dark side path so whole heartedly?

I believe Anakin siding with Palpatine was his point of no return. It is at that point he knew he could never be a Jedi ever again. Killing the younglings was just another brick on his road to Hell.

When he killed the younglings he already knew that it was between them and losing his wife that’s bearing his child. Just look at his face at mustafar before he sees padmes ship, the guy not only screwed up his own life but also the lives of everybody that believed in him.

@@CephaloG0D False. During episode 2 while they are eating, he playfully makes a "demonstration" of some telekinesis with the food. He did not manipulate her with the jedi mind trick to love him, something like that would have been implied, and also Padme was not even weak minded, their love was genuine. Maybe this is your twisted way of viewing things for some other reason.

They knew what they were doing with Rey. They were finally able to move past the Skywalkers and Rey was there ticket. The only bad part of there plan is that the fanbase actually loved and still love Luke, Han, and Leia. There plan was flawed from the get go.

@@joeclaridy I think they knew what they 'wanted' to do with Rey, but how they played her reminded me a little of ST Voyager and how they played down the crew of that ship to play up the aliens. One of the things the original trilogy got right with Vader was they made him talk with his actions first, and then his words. And it was much the same with Luke. With Rey well... it was like watching a plot armored expo-dump from a tutorial level that was in a rush to introduce support characters that will never be seen again.

Most likely yes, personally I don't like the idea Vader himself regretted killing the younglings as much he can regret as regret is a dark emotion but I see it as he killed them because he thought it was the only way to save padme and with the dark side energy through him made him only see her and everything else was blood, he would regret it if he saw at the time or layer that he didn't need to i.e he saw that it would not have affected his standing with palpatine and not bring him closer to saving padme but that's thoughts on his psyche

In actual cannon lore there was security footage of every room in the temple. 100% of what he did went recorded. So that would not work.

To some extent Sidious did start to seek out possible replacements for Vader. He constantly tested him. Sidious understood he could be subject to the rule of two. That's why the few times Vader DID plot against Sidious, he did nothing to "punish" him for it. If you're committed to that kind of power/religion on THAT level... Vader was eager to get Luke to join the dark side and kill Sidious, Vader becoming master, and luke apprentice. There is still a chain of dark side wielders, however, depending on the level, what is taught is not enough to threaten the Master or Apprentice of the sith, just to kill other force users. The Jedi seek to elevate all members to the highest possible level of teaching. The Sith kneecap underlings, not teaching them the vast majority of what they know, but only what the NEED to know to get their jobs done. Maul was an assassin, Dooku was just a temporary fill-in until the time to turn Anakin. The first time we see Sidious use his "emperor" voice to anakin/vader was the command to kill Dooku.
