Because George made those choices on purpose... lol they're not mistakes. When I was a filmmaker I was aware of all this stuff too when making. I call it focal point awareness. As an editor you can track where your eyes get drawn too first. It's a 4th dimensional thinking trick.

I love the fact that in some scenes, the helmet and mask look like they were made of metal when metallic, but in other scenes like in the beginning of A New Hope where the helmet and mask look like plastic and not as shiny.

Why even the armor or any of this at all lol They should've just put him in an environment suit or bacta tank and had Vader design the suit himself, because I'm not even sure who actually designed or built the damn thing. Palpatine, I guess? I guess he sketched a design on the shuttle ride from Mustafar back to Coruscant? It's just really weird and dumb how we immediately get the iconic Vader suit when there's like a 20 year time gap. Like, he never wore any other armor, never made any modifications? I would've had Vader sitting in the bacta tank or in an awkward environment suit for at least a week before we got to the actual armor. There's just no built up or logical pacing to any of this, just getting Vader in the Vader suit so they can shove him in at the last five minutes.

I mean, there were subtle variations within the original trilogy itself, I'm sure they could've set him in a more "basic" prototype-style suit for the initial suitup scene, no cape, more electronics showing or whatever. And then just have him for his final scene with yet another suit that's very clearly the iconic one, but maybe still with some little details here and there that show it's still primitive or whatever

Right, but in this case the armor changes between shots, so we've fixed a continuity error.

Palpatine made the suit bad on purpose to ensure Vader was always angry as well making sure it had weak points that allowed Palpatine to swiftly kill him should he turn against the Emperor.

@@masturch33f66 that worked out well didn’t it! Vader had multiple suits and masks, are you seriously trying to say he built the same discomforts and flaws into each one? This is expanded BS. Try focussing on something when you have a savage itch, all you want to do is scratch it, doesn’t make for a very good or dependable henchman. Palpatine “Vader, destroy him!” Vader “Hang on a minute, I’ve got a chronic wedgie.”

@@eddherring4972 That’s the point, Vader had to be constantly angry to stay connected with the dark-side. The actor who played Tony Soprano kept pebbles in shoes because they made his feet uncomfortable, and it made him angry. This isn’t “expanded bs” this is common knowledge. Vader caught Palpatine off guard that’s why he failed, however Vader still ended up dying anyway from the force lightning. Just imagine yourself in the Emperor’s shoes. You have a guy with the potential to become a god as your right hand man, wouldn’t you fear that he’d try to overthrow you the second he had the chance to? Obviously you’d incorporate weaknesses into his suit to put him down should he rebel against you, but you’d also want him at his strongest in the Darkside of the force, to ensure he stays powerful enough to shutdown potential threats to your empire, and never having second thoughts of going back to the light.

@@masturch33f66 so you’re suggesting: Palpatine knew what would happen to Vader, that he’d end up in the suit. That the only way to control him was to make him more powerful and focussed? Doesn’t cover: Vader changed and redesigned his own suit many times in the 20+ years he had wearing it, suggesting he chose to be uncomfortable and angry in order to be focussed, that’s absolutely ridiculous. I understand angry but anger is not a focussed emotion it’s a random and volatile emotion. Potential to become a god: Failed on his first mission and got diced. According to fans and EU lost a lot of Force ability yet Palpatine still felt the need to be concerned about him when from the OT he knew Luke was stronger and would make a better apprentice. Failed to recover Death Star plans Failed again to recover Death Star plans Struck Obi Wan Kenobi down in a no contest duel Failed to protect the Death Star in ship to ship combat Failed to secure and wipe out the Rebel base on Hoth VI Failed to capture Luke Skywalker on Cloud City Failed to capture Luke Skywalker after Cloud City Failed to do anything of note other than get the completion of the 2nd Death Star back on schedule (I think Palpatine is massaging ego here) Failed to follow the simple instruction to remain on the command ship. Lost to Luke Skywalker in a lightsaber duel. Failed to kill Palpatine but threw him down a shaft, killing himself as a result. Kenobi: Failed to defeat Obi Wan Kenobi Lost to Obi Wan Kenobi Just a long list of failures really so I hardly consider him much higher in ability than a Stormtrooper. Just way more presence a cool costume and a lunatic persuasion technique and an excellent motivator “Apology accepted Captain Needa.”

@@eddherring4972 While Vader failed a lot in the movies, his successes in EU far outweigh the failures in the films. Palpatine had no idea that Anakin was gonna get burned alive. He just went a long with it and made the provisions necessary to keep him alive whilst being under his control. Had Anakin won the duel on Mustafar, I’m sure Palpatine would’ve either had him killed or found some other way to control him. When he saw the burned Anakin, he saw an opportunity to keep Vader. The Dark Side is fueled by anger. The more angry you are, the more powerful you are in the Dark Side. Also, how did Vader fail to kill Palpatine? Palpatine clearly died in the end of Episode VI and Anakin bought balance to the force as he was meant to ever since he learned he was the Chosen One.
